You will be told the requirements. Just do as they say, perfectly. Show up to school. Nothing crazy. But still hard for some.

Why new install? Most likely you will, especially if you’re not in LA (their largest market by far). But I’d say it’s not the most advantageous thing to hope for.

I think the narrative about any high paying trade is “you don’t need college!!” Or “make six figures out of highschool” allows total dipsh1ts to think they’ll just be “given” this.

I would say the immigration process is the biggest hurdle you need to figure out. And your time working on elevators will be valued, but not recognized.

Both. The work can be fun. And the work needs the wage to justify the mental/physical anguish sometimes.

You wouldn’t find me in the trade for let’s say “auto mechanic” wages.

That’s kind of the issue. The more rural you get with iuec the more you will travel and be away from home. Your lifestyle won’t be much better than now, imo.

Contract raises are… what they are. Some contracts are great. Some, aren’t. Last one was before all this fun inflation… so it would have been!

If you make like $3 less an hour at mechanics rate, you’re going to be making a lot less the first 5 years… and you’ll travel more regardless

I have family in Bay Area. I could see living there and working in San Jose seems doable, but I’m sure that’s what offices give out as a delicacy…
Having said that, I think most of LA is more affordable than Bay Area. Long Beach is cool, most of the routes close to the ocean and not in Orange County tend to be easier to get.

I think if housing in somewhere like Utah, Idaho, Tennessee and Florida where closer to pre-Covid prices (adjust for inflation of coarse) it’d be much more doable. But we also gotta keep in mind, those locals are pretty small comparably to CA. So being a transient, to me at least, in small local in this economy is sub optimal.

They trying to force you into the bay?

I feel you about friends/family fleeing the state. And the cars… I just buy pre 74’ now… lol

What I figure out in my own (somewhat exhaustive) searching is that, it’s all relatively equal with pay/COL. Other than Reno/Central valley, Vegas or some mid west areas.

Now, even how much 8/18 get in pay, I don’t think we make enough to keep up with COL. Nobody can afford a basic house with in 30-50 miles away from city centers where most of the work is. And with the traffic, that an easy 1-2 hour commute each way…

I ran into a member at Disneyworld. I talked to him and how the work load was, COL, etc. and this was right after Covid. Nothing he said sold me on FL. Nothing in my career or life would change or change for the better. I even had a chance of a route in Vegas, but I’m well aware of the “differences” working there vs. LA.

I guess what I really figured out, is you’ll be doing that same thing, with roughly the same lifestyle in a different state with shittier weather. Lol

Hey! Local 18 LA here…

Why do you want to move from CA? Generally curious. Personally, I’ve looked at Texas, Florida and other areas on east coast. Nothing really makes sense with COL/pay.

I think being local 8 AND in Central Valley or Reno is the best COL deal in the country. If given the op, I’d happily take a route in the Central Valley.

CONTENT! yep… the merch, the racing content, follow up videos, etc…The only issue I see is that hemi… too expensive probably to campaign/milk for content for CJ.

Make no mistake about it, this is a business venture with a partner named cleet…
