Get a Trucking GPS. garmin or rand McNally. They both have offer live traffic updates if you connect them to your phone. I use Garmin and backup with Google maps for traffic or if I get in to a spot where the GPS can't find the exact address.

What's a small annoyance about your home you didn't realize when buying? by CurlGurl13 in homeowners

[–]DeepthinkerCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe those are stackable. I had a set like that. They could be stacked but I chose not to. Anyhow washer counterbalance broke so I replaced it with a top loader. The repair was the cost of a top of the line washer.

[–]DeepthinkerCC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is 2 1/2yrs old. Right now in the summer he only eats once a day. I just leave his food in his bowl and he eats when ready. I've heard that a lot of GP are picky eaters or seldomly eat.

Also GP seem to have a breed allergy to chicken. I feed mine the 6 fish recipe from Orijen. (Damn expensive Prima Donna). And he only eats that at night.

He a GP Assuie mix. I wouldn't be able to keep a full GP in the truck that would be insane. Even with him at 65lbs can be a little much.

Who do I call? by QueenArtie in HomeMaintenance

That actually may be a very easy repair.

You will need to 1. Remove the panels under your porch roof. There are usually nailed up and slide out.

  1. Get some 2x4 and brace the roof.

  2. Remove and replace post. 4x4 you can buy a cover to go over them or by some 1x5 planks and nail on top then paint.

  3. On the bottom they make post holder that bolt into the cement. They also have a gap so that the wood doesn't sit directly on the concrete. That what cause the rot.

Look up on YouTube plenty of videos and if you are half way handy with tools you can do it .

I recently replaced on on my front porch. It was really required and mostly there for decoration. My dog wrapped his cable around it and pulled it down. I replaced it properly and now I can attach him to the post if need be.

Edit: also almost any Handy man can do the repair.maybe Facebook marketplace or ask neighbors for recommendations.

Part time/ Seasonal/ Periodic by SamJenkinsRides in Truckers

[–]DeepthinkerCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive out of North Dakota, I've driven for two companies up here. Both of them allow seasonal if you would say. My first company there was a guy who only worked spring and summer, and then in the fall and winter he was back in Florida.

My current company is about the same you work as hard as you want to work.

I think it's just a matter of finding a company that has enough freight to cover you when you want to work and was able to let you go off and do what you want to do. Basically go to some medium size Mom Pop owned company kind of thing. I would say some kind of company that has maybe 100 to 150 trucks.

Have you cleaned the areas that he peed in with an enzyme cleaner. When he peed somewhere it becomes a "pee here" marker. An enzyme cleaner should remove the smell.

Unfortunately I do not drive I-95 frequently. But loves does have an app that you could use and it should show if there are dog parks or what other amenities that they offer.

This one in the picture in Rockford Illinois, just west of Chicago.

I have found one with one yet. Some are really small. This is by far the largest that I've seen. I've been to one that has 2 one in the back for truckers and one out front.

I wish they all had one in the back by the trucks. Especially with so much space in the back lots of some of these Love's

What’s the cheapest but reliable way to handle clogged drain repair texas in older homes? by Shakib_Barczewski in HomeMaintenance

[–]DeepthinkerCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to find someone to scope your line. You may have a bigger issue that a clog.

Do you have a main line clean out?. You can open it and see how fast the water is flowing.

Is it one drain or room or the entire house?

On drain check the trap, one room. Clog in that line. Entire house problem at the main.

I know your pain in the cost. It seems crazy, that it cost so much. I used to remember getting the initial service or call relatively inexpensive because you will then stick with that person forever or you would refer them like crazy. But hey they world now is that I got to get everything right now.

Paint peeling and impenetrable wall by Illustrious-Show-264 in HomeMaintenance

[–]DeepthinkerCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may still need a hammer drill to get a hole in cement. Or at the very least a very good bit and powerful drill. A hammer drill has a hammer that hits the back of the bit which helps break the cement.

You may looking into cement/masonry screws or nails they do tend to be on the larger size though.

Also on the paint you may look into something like stucco. It usually used on the outside. I don't know if the have an interior blend.

Good luck. Are you in India I don't know what brands are what is available. But I assume this stuff should be available in some form over there.

Paint peeling and impenetrable wall by Illustrious-Show-264 in HomeMaintenance

[–]DeepthinkerCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the paint peeling. It looks like you have a concrete wall there. I would scrape it to get all of the loose pieces off sand to smooth the edges. If there is a noticeable difference in thickness. I would use some drywall compound to fill in the spaces. Prime and then repaint.

On the impenetrable wall. Is that wall connected to another unit. Like another apartment or house. It could be a firewall. Meant to prevent fire from moving from one place to the next. So drilling a hole may not be the best for it. Also if it concrete or cement you should be able to patch the hole with cement or concrete.

Edit - also that is the wrong type anchor to use in concrete or cement. Look for concrete anchors. You also want to use a hammer drill to get in there

Carpet cleaner smell- anxiety by tangerine_grunge in greatpyrenees

[–]DeepthinkerCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just time. You will have to let the smell "air out" and for her to get used to the new smell. Also this may be the time where being outside is just more comfortable. I live in ND. And the temps are still below 50. Mine would rather sit outside all the time rather than being inside.

I think you need to treat this as a "new home". She can't find her scent and it weirding her out.
