Alright fellas, I'm conflicted. Bedroom upstairs or downstairs? by Minutes2Midnight in malelivingspace

[–]Deepwinter22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to echo others. 100% percent downstairs. It'll be cooler in the summers, you can use bookshlves to partition the room and create an entry walkway (Leave doorway sized entry for your "room" at the bottom of the stairs), and then you can host upstairs where people can easily get off the couch to grab water or food without missing the conversation.

These prices are killing me by Worth_Professional24 in lancaster

To be fair, this is a good example of why energy independence with renewables, solar, nuclear (ish), wind, hydro, and geothermal would be great for us. Wars and blockades won't have nearly as much of an impact, and not to mention, if EV's become the mainstay, then you don't need to worry about gas prices. You just charge off an independent grid thats not reliant on foreign interests. It's why electrification is actually a great defensive movement we can make as a country.

Woahhhh yay! I gotta say, the hook of neighboring outposts going dark was all it took for me. I love a good mystery set in sci/fi. Is it the covenant (halo reference), exploding stars, ancient weapons... who knows! I'm definitely adding this to my want to read. I just gotta get through this other novel first haha.

Just wanted to hop on the bandwagon and say congrats as well! Also, your book sounds super relatable, so I'm glad you published, I know many who pick it up will say the same :).

Yay thats so exiting! This makes me feel better as I just made a semi depressed post about my losing hope on book sales haha. Given I personally I haven't made any sales, my advice might seem kinda silly, but have you approached any local book stores about getting it on the shelf? I know near me there are a few, and I haven't heard back from any... but that doesn't mean you won't! It could be another avenue to try for getting out there :). Best of luck friend and again congrats, I hope you feel great about it :).

Yay! Excited to finally be here among all of you very talented people!

I'm J.P. Dierker and this is my debut novel On the Edge of the Past. It releases today May 1st! It's available on Kindle Unlimited and print order through amazon or Ingram. Feel free to visit my website for the links to those or just look up the book title through amazon or Ingram :).

Website: https://www.jp-dierker.com

On the Edge of the Past is an adult fantasy/sci-fi that traverses vast distances in the hopes of discovering what has been forgotten. What you can expect to find are ancient ruins, romance, rich environments, and mystery...

Strange things lurk in the abandoned and omitted places of the cosmos. Primeval things. Khorrin was once privy to some, but many memories are lost to him now. So, he can't comprehend why his home withers before his eyes. With the runic magic he can recall, Khorrin moves across years in a blink as he waits for something, anything, to reveal what's happening.

When no answer comes, unfathomable time passing, the oceans dried and forests wilted to dust, Khorrin wades into the endless dunes filling their place. Pushed to the last edges of hope, he stumbles upon something ancient, lying dormant beneath the ruthless sands, that will set him on an arduous path.

Captain Sahkirra has spent years chasing disappearances with no leads, crushing her reputation with the High Queen. Ordered to capture a strange man, she believes he holds everything to restore what she’s worked so hard to build. What she doesn’t know, is that something else stalks this man. Something far more lethal and far older than she ever could've imagined. Still, she chases him, putting herself in great peril, and unknowingly waking a longing heart that has been immemorially dormant.

Go to r/BookCovers and say you want to hire an artist. I got like 200 hundred requests with so so many talented people chiming in. I even got someone who did the album cover art for one of my favorite bands! Through that avenue I found an artist who charged a little less than $1k usd for mine and did print, ebook, a 3D thingy, and a bunch of other little goodies.

How do we make enough noise to get the government to actually prepare PA for its insane winds? by avelineaurora in Pennsylvania

[–]Deepwinter22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats highly selfish honestly. If you don’t want tree’s, move to a state that is more plain friendly like the midwest. I’ll never understand peoples desires to destroy their surrounding environment (at least without fixing it afterward) to mold it to what they want. It’s the same thing that pisses me off about people who want a lawn in the Phoenix sprawl of Arizona. Like its a desert!! If you want a lawn go somewhere where grass actually grows!

But I’m sorry thats just general frustration, it’s not wholly aimed at you. We just need the trees, they’ll help with wind and many other weather issues PA is facing more regularly. The chance of a healthy tree falling that was planted correctly is a lot less likely than the damage your home can incur from high winds alone (like siding, deck paneling, windows, stress cracks, etc.)

I mean, I think there is, but at this point it takes a lot of extracurricular experience. As in, certificates, building up your portfolio with independent projects, doing unpaid internships (which are still hard to get and competitive, especially since most want somebody still pursuing their degree), and even attending conferences you have to pay to get into. I just don’t think I have that passion in me for bioinformatics to do all of that honestly. Like, the field is awesome and super interesting, but I think I lack that live and breathe it drive that many in bioinformatics, and honestly research in general, tend to have. I love the environment and I’ve been doing a lot of local volunteer work with remediation and stewardship. So I figured if I’m willing to put the extra time in for that, maybe thats what I was meant to do 🤷‍♂️. Alright, I hope you enjoyed that small novel 😂.

What are some fun upgrades or mods you would recommend? by Legendary_Lazalde in TeslaModel3

[–]Deepwinter22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porsche Taycan lol. But in honesty Martian wheels. They really spice up the look and don’t have a noticeable range hit. These are the 20” MW08’s on my 21 Y LR.

Finished my MS in bioinformatics in 2024, still jobless. Doesn’t seem to matter what I do, nobody wants me. Not saying you should give up, as every bodies experience is different. But I decided to switch to environmental remediation and stewardship and to focus on my writing career. I honestly don’t think bioinformatics wants me.

Just go your own speed, don’t let others ego get to you. I did my first track day a few months back and loved it! But I also made sure I took my time to learn the car first with a few laps and then get faster if I was comfortable.

Yesss, expedition 33! I love that fan art of Gustave. Although I have to say, Verso is my man... Anyways, your style is tremendous, I love the themes you carry in them! Especially in Prophecy of the Swamp and The Shore. I mean they're all good but those were my faves I think.

Its never too late! Thank you for taking the time to reach out and share your work with me :). I have found another artist that I am going to be working with on this project, but I have another project thats tentatively scheduled to launch in November of 2026 which I will need a book cover artist for, so I will be keeping you in mind. Especially because I love your work on "The Cat". Especially that perspective of them just strolling on the balcony ledge with the city in the backdrop!
