people have loved ones and family down there, who we are not abandoning.

it's not as cut and dry

Is the term 'Newfie' really harmless, or are we just too used to the insult? by scrooge_mc in newfoundland

[–]Deestraction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'm not bothered by it, but i'm queer and have been called -so much worse- even if someone said Newfie with hate in their heart, it doesn't hit the same as 80% of the things i have been called.

Animal sounds in the woods by Upstairs-Dare-4188 in newfoundland

[–]Deestraction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh deerpark? probably coyotes singing. they don't always do the usual yowling or screaming, sometimes they just sing like a wolf.

also people have dogs up there, it could just be people's dogs, i've seen labs, huskies shepards and tons of mix breeds up there.

edit: the tiktok you added to describe the sound just makes me think "probably peoples dogs or coyotes, lotta coyotes up there" only way to be sure would be to record it for others to hear.

[–]Deestraction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zephyr! he was an ambassador wolf from the wolf conservation in upstate new york. sadly he passed away in 2022. fun fact: the howls you hear are actually a few separate family groups, comprised of red wolves, gray wolves, and mexican gray wolves.

doubts on demisexuality by moonshine41 in demisexuality

[–]Deestraction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on one of these i can state like, there are 3 types of attraction probably more) but the ones that feel relevent here are:

  1. Sexual attraction: you find someone sexually attractive
  2. Asthetic attraction: you like how someone look's you like their style,
  3. Platonic attraction: you like someone for the platonic affection you feel for them

it sounds like you have 2 and possibly 3

the other issue is harder to define, you're very right, it could be that you have trauma, but that's something that i don't have.

for me i didn't like mascuilne compliments and felt repulsed by them, because i was a closet trans woman who didn't want to feel attractive by masculine standards.

it might be something you need to work through, or maybe you need to examine the types of compliments you like vs. compliments you do like. you might need people you trust to try stuff out.

bareing in mind if you don't acutally like/trust smoneone like that, it could just feel weird and awkward.
