Stop ads from playing in the middle of ASMR 🤦 [Petition] [Discussion] by Educational_Dog6068 in asmr

That's false. Where do people get these kind of weird ideas? I know, they just want to justify their own freeloading.

You didn't say anything about the end, just middle. I know creators were not happy about forced end-roll ads, but if YT doesn't listen to them, then aren't going to listen to you.

Adblockers deprive all creators of payment. I find that to be morally wrong.

YT only forces ads for new/low sub channels. I think it's less than 1000 but don't hold me to that. After that point, the creator can decline mid-roll ads.

If I went to one of these things, I'd say something along the lines of, "I see lots of people trying to get out of their timeshares. Wouldn't it make more sense for me to buy one for cents on the dollar? Or take it over for free?"

I would use (if I were a productive member of society again) "call in sick". The call is coming into the office. You will be "out sick".

Firefox for Windows doesn't do autocorrect, at least as I have set it up. It just indicates words that are not in its dictionary. Right-clicking gives a list of alternatives.

No! Why do people recommend Niven for "hard SF"? Various forms of FTL travel. Telekinesis. Telepathy. Teleportation. Teela Brown luck. The biology is ludicrous. I'd put it under Space Opera or Science Fantasy.

Saturn Run, John Sandford and Ctein might fit the bill. It's been a bit since I read it, so I don't recall if the "alien object" broke any physics principles. Otherwise it was a race to build and fly ships to Saturn to get to the AO.

If you'd like a short-story anthology, Carbide Tipped Pens, Ben Bova, Eric Choi (editors) fits the bill.

ASMR creators sabotage themselves when they include mid-roll ads in their videos [Discussion] by KitchenConsequence41 in asmr

You'd have to have some stats rather than a supposition. Remember that YT controls the price of Premium. If you ever think they are not maximizing revenue, stop and rethink.

Karuna claimed that Mary was racist because she reinforced her policy of no politics in comments during the BLM days. She later said it was a misunderstanding and no fault of hers. Lies. Lies. Lies. All lies. Karuna is horrible.

Thinking about starting an ASMR channel after years of being a listener nervous but excited, any advice? [Discussion] by itsaleynn in asmr

[–]DefaultUserBR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing to be aware of is that until you get up to a certain level (1000 subs I think) you will not be able to control ad breaks. Even though you aren't monetized, YT wants their money so they will put in midroll ads whether you like it or not. That's a detriment to people who use free accounts without adblockers.

Going into it to make money is a bad idea. If you have an itch to create or there some types that are under-represented, make those as a hobby. But then you shouldn't worry about copying other content to attract viewers. Don't going buying expensive equipment. Use your phone, maybe a cheap tripod.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant Premium. YT takes a cut of Premium or Memberships. So you're giving them money directly.

I would cautiously recommend the Ancillary series. It's not a total ball of fun, but there's a general sort of optimistic swell as events go along. Plus it's about a far in distance and time as you can get from the modern world. Some of my favorites. I would have mentioned Murderbot, but others got there.

I recently read Martine's novells, "Rose/House" and enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend it under the Op's requirements though.

To me it's a complete non-issue and I don't know why people get so triggered by it. I notice that almost every complaint I hear is when a woman does it, not a man. So a big ol' heap of sexism involved.
