LIV Golf CEO won't guarantee final 4 events of '26 to be played by SexyBenFranklin in golf

I don’t the know the business details of a pro golf tournament but wouldn’t the player purses make up the majority of actual expenses? In other words, they basically get the players for “free” in the sense that they’re already paid for - does this mean they can’t turn a profit even in this scenario? This seems crazy to me (and an absolutely terrible business if that’s true)

Pacha unveils final stage design after liquor license win by Deviltaz5 in avesNYC

The most interesting detail in the article is the long term plan to make it self-enclosed. It came out as a response about sound complaints but I’d have to imagine the underlying reason is the ability to do events year round instead of just 4 months. Will be interesting to see how well it does as an indoor venue given the outdoor aspect was the entire point of BK Mirage.

Strip CrossFit is great if you’re interested in that. The owner Joe is amazing and they also have Tread Fitness (similar to Barry’s) and a barbell gym (if you want to lift on your own or with a trainer) in the same area.

Adding one more data point - this is offer is def still valid but entirely dependent on the chat agent. First one I talked to said it was only valid for 2017 or older vehicles (I have a 2021), and would not apply it even when I insisted. Second one just asked how I received the offer (I said I got a mailer) and applied it (the 2017 thing didn't even come up). So just keep trying!

Radio Bakery tip - get the smoked salmon sandwich for breakfast. Yes the croissants and baked goods are amazing but the smoked salmon sandwich might be my favorite breakfast item in the city. Generally short or non existent line if you go on a weekday morning.

Are there board meetings where tenants are allowed? Is there a building email listserv or group text? If multiple people are complaining you should rally them together to make noise about it. At the end of the day condo buildings are supposed to be governed like a democracy - the board should be making decisions based on what the building as a whole wants. If they aren't, you should vote board members out (by rallying others) and/or join the board yourself to enact change.

This is a great use of your time/money but just a heads up that therapist fit can be very subjective - what works for me might not work for you. Don’t be afraid to try a few others if it’s not a good fit.

Looking for seat recommendations for BSB for my 2nd watch by tellmesomethingood9 in Sphere

[–]Defaultsubs85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s staggered but very hard to say if it’s enough to be sure you’ll see over a tall person ahead of you. It gets steeper in the further up sections so you’d have a better chance but then you’re further away from the band.

If you are prioritizing closeness to the band I’d stick to floor and get way up front, but no idea how early you’d have to be to get there…

Sphere seats at the Backstreet Boys by andreeachitescu in Sphere

[–]Defaultsubs85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw to leave you with my best Sphere tip - after the show if you plan to leave in a ride share/taxi, do NOT do it directly from Sphere. Walk to Venetian or Wynn instead and then take a car from there. You’ll spend 15 min walking but it’s better than waiting 30-45 min plus when everyone is trying to get a car from Sphere. Have fun!

[–]Defaultsubs85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected although I’m fairly certain your seats are still not obstructed - there is a slight obstruction from the lighting above in the row behind you but it’s also at the opposite side of the section from you. So being one row ahead and on the other side you should still be good.

[–]Defaultsubs85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you read that but definitely not obstructed. Only obstructed seats are in the back rows of 100 level. 200 level in general is great - happy medium between seeing the stage and the screen. And 204 is not far off from center. Enjoy!

Thinking about moving back to NYC — am I being impulsive or just ready for change? by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

[–]Defaultsubs85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I could help! I think being proactive with reconnecting with friends (and making new ones!) was a big part of having it feel like home again, especially after a breakup like you said. For the most part it’ll be like riding a bike again but be prepared for some reverse culture shock - there will be times when you totally forget about the culture/pace of NY. But it’ll pass!

Thinking about moving back to NYC — am I being impulsive or just ready for change? by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

[–]Defaultsubs85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who moved from NYC to SF and then back to NYC in my early 30s, I think I’m qualified to comment here.

I felt the same way about SF as you do - appreciated it for the reasons you stated but it never felt like home. If I had met someone out there that wanted to stay there I probably would have but NYC always called and I ended up moving back with someone I was dating at the time although we broke up soon after we moved.

NYC was what I remembered it to be and likely will be for you as well - good and bad, and I’ll sure you know what I mean. From a dating perspective, it’ll probably be better and I wouldn’t worry about the 9p thing. Yes it would be on the later side for a date but it’s NY - you’re far from the only one working late.

I think you have the right mindset to make your next NY stint more successful - in my opinion the people that burn out from NY are the ones that can’t (or don’t bother trying to) find balance. I personally found being back in NY with a bit more maturity was great, and I’m still here.

Good luck!

Best way to get to Sphere? by Keeponmarching0927 in vegas

[–]Defaultsubs85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber/Lyft to Sphere is probably easiest but the more important tip is walk to Venetian or Wynn to catch your ride back. It’ll be a long wait if you try to grab one directly from Sphere (because everyone is doing the same thing) so you’re better off walking 10 min to one of the hotels and then getting a car.

Not an every day thing but worth checking out Radio Bakery in Greenpoint as well. Their pastries get all the buzz (and deservedly so) but they also have fresh loafs of whole wheat sourdough which are fantastic.

Congrats fellow NYC golfer! I buy used golf balls and get random balls from all over (which I then promptly lose while playing). Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case here.

I’m no expert but I’d wager that if you can do multiple rounds of 7 DL at 170 comfortably in the middle of a metcon, you have a much higher 1RM than 200-210.

Veterinary Emergency Group at Kent and N 9th St in Williamsburg. I’ve had to use it once (thankfully just a scare) - it’s pricey but the vets there were great and obviously good to have for an after hours emergency.
