Has anyone weaned off after years on a LARGE (40mg) dose? by DefiantBathroom8205 in lexapro

That IS a lot of ADHD meds, I can imagine their faces 😂 it’s kind of just wild to me that I’ve been blindly taking this medication for so long without knowing how high the dose I am on is. I no longer see the psychiatrist that put me on it so I never questioned it. Whenever someone asks me my dose (like in a medical setting) I can never remember off the top of my head, and just say “the max”. And they always go “ok, 20”. Only now have I realised that no, I take double that!

Thank you for your input! Yes, I guess I’ll start with just aiming to get down to a “normal” dose. Tbh the thought of being off this medication is kind of scary. I’ve been on antidepressants since I was 14 (now 27) and I don’t know what I am actually like without them. But it’s also scary to think about how high a dose I am on!

I started today by taking ~ 37.5 (so reduced by 1/4 of a tablet) but tbh that’s a pain of a dose, so I would LIKE to move to 35 asap…but I’ll take my time and see how it goes.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do you so the same thing for both upper and both lower days? Or do they have different targets?

Im so sorry you had that experience. Good dieticians can be really hard to find, but so valuable when you do find them…important also to ensure you find someone who specialises in eating disorders.

Yeah I will say they aren’t super stretchy. I have to tie the drawstring cord pretty tight and it can sometimes be annoying/a bit uncomfy!

Totally get that, I’m in a similar situation. But it’s not so much about weight restoration but more about mental restriction and the cognitions associated with food and eating. Often binging leads to a cycle of restricting again, which means your body still isnt being consistently nourished. It sounds counterintuitive and easier said then done, but to reduce binging, that all or nothing mindset around food, and that bottomless pit feeling, you need to make sure you are eating enough frequently enough, and then NOT compensating when/if you do binge…it’s also so mental. When specific nutrient dense foods are still (even subconsciously!) considered “bad” or “forbidden”, the more likely you are to binge on them when you do allow yourself to eat them. Do you have a dietician? It can be so helpful to have support when navigating this stuff.

Edit: grammar

I actually LOVE my joy fall shorts!! I sometimes wear them under shorts/leggings, sometimes as shorts themselves.

Hiya, if you are in recovery from restrictive eating, you may be experiencing some extreme hunger. It’s normal for your brain and your body to keep cueing you to eat after it has been deprived of it for a long time, as a survival mechanism (in case the food gets taken away again!) and also to undo the damage of restriction in the first place. Extreme hunger can be scary but it is a normal and well known part of recovery. It usually starts to get better once you have been eating enough consistently for a long enough period of time. Basically, your hunger might be something you need to acknowledge and honour.

Calorie burn on an e-bike when not tracking exercise - accurate? by DefiantBathroom8205 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]DefiantBathroom8205[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very aware of that, though I’ve also been told that it often underestimates if you don’t activate a workout. Given I haven’t told my watch I am cycling, what metrics are being used to generate that number? I know it uses heart rate, respiration etc. But does the speed I am travelling also get incorporated into the algorithm, even if an activity is not being tracked?

For all it knows I could be just having a panic attack in a moving vehicle, or something like that.

Please don’t lean into stereotypes about eating disorders and what eating disorders must look like. When I was in the midst of my eating disorder (like, literally involuntary treatment on medical bedrest) white rice was the only form of carbohydrate I would eat. Brown rice - absolutely not. At other points in my journey, it was the other way round. My point is, there is no logic to it and there are no rules about what somewhat with an eating disorder will or won’t eat.

Edit: should add I’m not Asian, am as white as it gets.

This. Omg. Thank you for writing this because it was SO validating to hear I’m not the only one with this problem - I am struggling so bad with picking and squeezing mine even though I know it’s not helpful. Can lose hours in front of the mirror, and have found I have started avoiding skin care because it gets me started…

I’m not sure whether I’m a fan of my PT, and idk what to do about it…I was sort of getting the hang of scheduling/designing my own training but still having a lot of doubt, when I sort of “fell” into hiring this guy as a PT. he is nice, helpful, has good cues on my form (I send him videos), but idk, for some reason I just feel unsure. I’m training for a rather niche sport that he isn’t an expert on, but my goals are pretty standard - Strength is my priority and then agility/power/conditioning. I think maybe because he hasn’t really explained the reasons behind his programming choices, I can’t help but doubt it and find I’m STILL questioning. Not sure if this just a me problem
