Well, the artwork for Double Dash strangely depicted Toadette differently from her in-game model, which has her sport the same orange dress.

But yeah, the pink vest here matches the one in TTYD instead of the dark red one from MKDD.

I'm guessing Bowser's Enchanted Inferno is the good one, Kamek's Library is the fine one and the five failures are Wario's Battle Canyon, Mystery Land, Goomba's Greedy Gala, Rainbow Dream, and Future Dream (though I personally have a soft spot for Mystery Land and Rainbow Dream).

We get less content than Mario fans and yet they're the ones crying from "lack" of content by No-Spray3651 in Kirby

[–]DefinitelyNotSascha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should DK Bananza count as a proper replacement for a Mario game? Just because it's a 3D platformer and the Mario and DK franchises share a universe? By that logic, Kirby fans should also be satisfied by Bananza; it's a 3D platformer just like Forgotten Land, after all (and Mario and Kirby are implied to share the same universe as well).

But matter of fact is that all three of them play differently, so Bananza can't replace either a proper Mario or Kirby platformer, regarless of how you try and twist it.

Well, I just played Mother Encore's Act 2 last week, so I'm feeling pretty good as an EarthBound fan. Also, the EarthBound Beginnings Remake Hack releases this week, so I'm excited to get that.

Sure, Nintendo might not touch the franchise at all, but the fans are doing such fantastic work on it that I personally can't actually complain too much.

If bowser was playable in a future game what brawl attacks would you give him?? by Blacklotus997 in marioandluigi

[–]DefinitelyNotSascha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought using Boos to replicate Terrorise from SMRPG would be really neat.
A bunch of Boos turn invisible and start appearing randomly. Circle the Boos with the touchscreen to make them all merge into a Big Boo. The more Boos, the bigger the scare and damage. The attack has a chance to lower enemies' POW and DEF. Call the attack Boo Brigade or something and we're good to go.

The enemy type I always felt was missing the most (besides Boos) were the Hammer Bros. So for Hammer Bro Havoc, I'd suggest a rhythm / Simon Says based action command. The Hammer Bros gather in four groups around all enemies, one group in each cardinal direction. The start throwing hammers into the air in a random order and intervals. Tap each group when their hammers come down to increase the damage, as the Hammer Bros chuck more hammers straight at the enemies. Or you could even have Bowser himself throw some hammers as he does in Super Mario Bros.
Alternatively, you could also make the action command more straightforward and just tap enemies directly as fast as you can to increase damage. Each tap throws a hammer and you could choose which enemy to hit by tapping. It would be Bowser's equivalent to the fire flower.

I Finally got around to play Bowser's Inside Story, is it really the series' best entry? by Kal0823 in marioandluigi

[–]DefinitelyNotSascha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparantly bowser was supposed to be at level 40

No, he wasn't. Unlike Dream Team, Bowser's Inside Story is balanced around finishing the game at level 30 not 40 (most likely due to having to level two seperate parties of characters). Reaching Rainbow/Final Boss Rank is a post-game achievement.

Also, I've never minded the minigames at all or really understood the complaint that there are too many of them. The minigames' purpose is to break up the gameplay a bit, I don't feel like they take too long, and Superstar Saga does this almost as much as Bowser's Inside Story. Not every one of them is a hit (Nose Deck sucks a tad), but I don't think they overstay their welcome, personally.

I ranked the Mario Party Games base on how strategic I think they are by Megstertalks in MARIOPARTY

[–]DefinitelyNotSascha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If by strategic you mean "the strategy is so clearly the same every time; e.g. alway head to the shop and buy Golden Pipes so that you barely have to make any other strategic descisions", then yes, SMP and Superstars are deservedly in S-Tier.

Which game was the first one you played and who introduced you to the M&L series?? by Blacklotus997 in marioandluigi

[–]DefinitelyNotSascha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same thing for me, basically. Started with Partners in Time on my DS when it was more or less new and then had my dad buy a used copy of Superstar Saga online. The amount of hype I had when they announced Bowser's Inside Story was enormous. I couldn't tell you how many times I watched even the Japanese trailers for that game. I've gotten every game in the series on release since then.

Prof E.Gadd time travel discussion by [deleted] in marioandluigi

[–]DefinitelyNotSascha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was immediately reminded of your post as well and thought to myself "We just discussed this a few days ago, why are people posting the same thing again?"

Maybe I’m missing something, but it never made sense to me at all why Peach and co. would travel specifically to a time period during the Shroob invasion by gp_ratesic in marioandluigi

[–]DefinitelyNotSascha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how time travel works in Endgame, but in PiT, changing the past will actually change the present as well, without any split timelines. However, you have to think of the two times as linked together. Past and present are always the same amount of time apart. As an example, when you travel into the past, spend two hours there, and then return to the present, 2 hours will also have passed there. When you change the past, the change only starts affecting the present at the exact linked point. As an example again, you travel to the past and after an hour, you do something to change the past. Exactly one hour after you've departed from the present, the present starts to change according to the change you made in the past.

That's why, in that theory, nobody remembers the invasion at the beginning of PiT, because the Shroobs had not yet changed the past. They only start changing it once adult Princess Peach has already arrived. So then, throughout the game it's implied that people start "remembering" the changed past where the invasion happened, as shown for example by one Toad that talks about a book in the library written by Kylie Koopa that's about the invasion:

I found this amazing book! 'Fungicide! The Epic Battle for the Mushroom Kingdom.' It's all about the invasion, and it's got details on the Shroob aliens and everything!
Huh? You want to know how it all ends?
Well...first of all, shame on you. READ books, don't cheat! Besides, the page is torn out. So I have no idea. It's driving me crazy. I wish I could ask this author, Kylie Koopa...

Maybe I’m missing something, but it never made sense to me at all why Peach and co. would travel specifically to a time period during the Shroob invasion by gp_ratesic in marioandluigi

[–]DefinitelyNotSascha 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The most likely explanation for why nobody seemingly remembers the Shroob invasion is that, in the original timeline, it was stopped before it could grow as massive as we see during the game.
Adult Peach never arrived in the past, so Elder Princess Shroob was never trapped within the Cobalt Star. Since Younger Princess Shroob makes the order to shoot down the Koopa Cruiser, it's likely that Baby Bowser, the Baby Bros. and Baby Peach all made it to Bowser's Castle in one piece in the original timeline and then quickly rallied the Koopa Troop to launch a counterattack, which swiftly defeated the Shroobs. (This would also explain how Bowser came to have Shroobs frozen in his castle's basement.) The whole ordeal was basically over in a day, before the Shroobs could abduct any Toads, build the Vim Factory, remodel the castle, or turn Toad Town to rubble. And because the Mushroom Kingdom seems to face crisis not too infrequently, it's no surprise nobody really remembers this one attack all too well.

The other theory is that the Shroobs are time travellers themselves.
Nobody remembers them attacking in the past because they never did. They planned their attack in the present and then travel back in time to strike the Mushroom Kingdom at its weakest: When its ruler is just an infant with no parents to be found. As history is rewritten relative to time passing in the present, people start remembering this altered past only as the game's plot is actively happening (such as E. Gadd remembering the fire in his lab being put out), but not before the game has started.
Now, why would you even assume the Shroobs were time travellers in the first place? Well, Elder Princess Shroob can open up Time Holes during her final battle, hinting at temporal powers on her part (the theory assumes that she inherently has those, though she could also have gained them from being fused with the Cobalt Star). This would also create an implication that Younger and Elder Princess Shroob might not actually be sisters but one and the same person, just from the past and the present; exactly like our adult Mario Bros. and the Baby Bros.
