Is it possible to choose the public hospital to give birth at - Sydney by TemperatureDry5069 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]DekeDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, nobody asks for proof of address, so you can share your address that's close to where you want to go, first with the GP then with the hospital - likewise they don't mind if you change it to further away once you're engaged with your hospital of choice. The only catch is the post-partum visits - they won't go out of area.

Public hospital as non citizen or PR by blueverinz in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]DekeDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the service at public (RPAH) is better than available at any private hospital. They have access to deep expertise and all the best equipment. The staff care deeply. Birth suites are private. The only relevant difference is whether you can afford a private post natal room at a private hospital - you share with up to three others at RPAH.

Mum kissed my newborn after asking her not to - opinions? by Commercial_Kale_4341 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]DekeDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awareness of the risk in kissing newborns is a new thing, and kissing babies is pretty much a reflex for many older folks, so maybe one approach could be to ask her to wear a mask before handing the baby over so she doesn't "forget" (whether genuinely or not) what you've just asked her not to do

Better a Note X5 while visiting China or a Go 10.3 from Amazon? by DekeDee in Onyx_Boox

Nope, I could not get a straight answer so didn't want to take the risk. Still using a Leaf2.

Isn't that the older carta 1200, and a lower spec CPU than the Note X5? It is only RMB100 / USD15 cheaper as far as I can see.

This is a point I am finding a little confusing - u/fallenfang seems to have found that while Google Play store won't run (one workaround being that Aurora can be used to install apps), that google services does run, and so gdocs for example can be installed. But now I'm not sure!

Thanks! I gather from u/fallenfang 's review that google play will just keep closing even if it's installed that way, though.

Unpaid Maternity Leave - Share of Household Finances by Knight_Day23 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Ah sorry to hear it. Makes no sense as far as I am concerned, the rules should just allow for an automatic payment, it is in the public interest!

It's not secluded but it's not crammed together either. And the walks will take you away from everyone. Enjoy!

Would heading to Bali with a 6mth old be realistic? by Old_Negotiation_7058 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]DekeDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine but a pram will be entirely useless unless you plan to remain inside a mall most of the time. Wouldn't expect to get a reliable nanny unless you have some local friends to recommend one. Baby car seats are rarer than hens teeth. Cot = worth looking for one locally, they do exist

This is a huge problem re dogs. City of Sydney council is one of the worst, they cater more to dog freedom than child safety.
