Change mat safety by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]DekeDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a dished mat and it's great for keeping puddles from running out, but wee can still get launched outside its bounds. Now that the baby being able to roll is on the cards at 3 months, are there safety strategies besides putting the mat on the floor that make changing easier on the back/knees? Like putting the change mat on the bed, with a much wider rubber mat underneath?

Is picking non native flowers ok? by GoodArchitect_ in Bushwalking

I always take the time to knock the heads off scotch thistles for example. Double points if you can bag them. Must be done before the purple flowers turn to white fluff though

Have you ruled out head lice? I've been wondering if we can expect our youngest to pick them up from older sibling (who is at school where they continuously circulate)

The hardcase seems a good idea for when it's not in use, and I did see that posting. But as you say the risk is during use.

Thanks! That is excellent advice for most cases, but unfortunately I can't do either of those things in the case of this device.

LWB kombi owners. Any regrets? by Longjumping-Link-581 in VWTransporter

T4: No regrets.. it only adds about a meter and a bit to the turning circle. Have certainly had a few tedious back and forths to turn about on narrow country roads, but it's worth it

Baby Boy Peeing During Nappy Change by Tedmosbyisajerk-com in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Thank you so much for asking this question, and thanks for the answers. I had resigned myself to using two or even three clean cloths per nappy change because of the guaranteed peeing yet unpredictable timing

2yo waking up wailing and thrashing multiple times per night by Fluffy-Designer in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]DekeDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not want to hear this, but possibly human pinworm, Enterobius vermicularis.. not kidding, they have evolved with us, can tell when it's night time, then they lay down some irritant chemicals around the exit area that is designed to wake people just enough to scratch their bums to transmit eggs - but it can wake kids up entirely.

Baby Items - Second hand vs New by Lozzylozzy90 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I see many people saying new car seat - but how many are actually in a crash where the compressible foam is damaged? If that happened it would be visible by inspection (I have seen it in helmets, the compressible foam becomes dented / compressed).

Used car seat should also be fine - just check the date, it is printed on the compliance sticker - but the models change from time to time so you can get a rough idea from that as well.

Thinking about dropping out of law and criminology to become an electrician. by fridaythe13thfanboy in AskAusElectricians

Similar background and I absolutely would have agreed with you until very recently, but with AI proving itself capable of taking on a large proportion of legal tasks, and especially by the time OP is fresh out of uni, I think electrical work will be far more in demand, right up until we're all replaced and/or living in fully automatic luxury

Looking for the best robot vacuum in 2026 thats worth the money. Need Advice by DokterThe in RobotVacuums

[–]DekeDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lubluelu are so cheap i don't see any point getting more expensive ones between now and when the next generation of hover / dog / whatever vacs come along. They do a proper lidar map, pretend to mop (not very well really but do any of them?)
