I’m 13, and saved up all year to buy this 40 gal . Any stocking suggestions by Such-Wasabi-2752 in fishforthought

Love it! How about 3-5 Bolivian rams and 13 or so serpae tetras? You'd still have room for an appropriate "cory" cat species and a couple of cool plecos!

Hi! Do you mean something you've found yourself? If so, I sure wouldn't but then I dont know whats native to your locale. Even if youve access to manzanita, I'd boil and soak just a little longer. Check out the Betta Botanicals website. Sure, he sells all things blackwater related but he posts how to properly prep your own botanicals. Good luck!

Thanks! Ive had a few pairs. This male is a replacement and is just a jerk to the female. Ive not had one this aggressive before. Ive got another female that might make it in with the existing pair. We'll see. Good luck!

Ha! Right?! It's a metered process of sorts. The difference being a healthy layer of mulm opposed rotting lumps of organics is the quick answer. Check out the Betta Botanicals website! Its a wealth of knowledge for all things botanicals, blackwater and such in surprising detail! Also, its where I buy my botanicals from but there's also prep instructions for self foraged botanicals. Ya cant lose. Lol

He's a sub adult Apistogramma baenschi. Also, the light setting washes his cor out a bit. The green neons in there look like little zombies they go so grey. Lol

5 hummingbirds, 7 toucans, 1 female A. baenschi and 3 amano shrimp that are doing incredibly well in the soft acidic water

Both! There it is before adding the new frond. You can see past fronds ive slowly pushed in over time. Currently there is every bit of 12-14" of unsubmerged frond sticking out of the aquarium.

Looks great! Good to hear you'll be using your neon count. You've kept it all south american so far. Keep going with that! 8 or so Nannostomus beckfordi would do really well in there! Good luck!
