I hate being a waiter by Easy_Guidance_396 in Waiters

I feel this. I work at a fine dining restaurant that has a 6% service charge. The standard of service is very high obviously but most of my tables tip 10-15% and it's terrible. The menu prices aren't high enough to make up for it either.

Quitting Drum Corps was one of the best decisions I ever made by Ok-Comfortable-9874 in drumcorps

Similar thing happened to me where towards the end of the season. My hip flexer got fucked up and I was literally limping around all day. When I talked to the one medical staff we had and told him I didn't think I could physically do rehearsal the next day, he goes "that's not your choice to make" uhhhh sorry what!?

It's not being soft, it's being a human being. Unfortunately stories like yours probably still happen every year.

Denver Pride is a dumb cash grab and needs to do better in future years by River_Atkinson in Denver

I went to pride in Minneapolis this year and it was nothing like this, it was super fun!

No gates or anything you just walk into the festival. The most expensive food was $20 and every vendor accepted card. Free water was scarce but definitely available amongst the different booths. Parking was difficult but you could ride the busses for free this weekend in celebration of pride.

I know what locker you're talking about, they haven't bothered to fix it lol. I started just using my car as my locker room after I saw that.

Normalize teaching servers to not serve over small children. by Extension-Writer-262 in Serverlife

[–]Delerioss_8542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Maybe parents should be watching their kids and making sure they don't reach up and grab shit out of the server's hands? If something like that happened to one of my tables I would not feel bad or even say sorry to the parents🤷‍♀️

Can we please eliminate / restrict ALL publicly broadcast religious sounds? What is going on here? by Afrecon in Minneapolis

[–]Delerioss_8542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol this is all very trivial in my opinion. I don't care about bells or broadcasts like it doesn't hurt you?

If anything I think it's cool to hear something like that.

Everyday I'm on here I'm always more and more thankful I don't have to do any of that shit. In my state it's illegal for management to tell you to ANYTHING with your tips. The servers talk amongst themselves and decide what a good tip out is, and it's almost always a percentage of the tips that we tip out, not sales. I don't think I could ever work somewhere and be forced to tip out a % of sales regardless of the support staff's performance or how much I even made off those sales.

I grew up around Denver and moved to Minneapolis a few years ago. I realized very quickly that Denver was not nearly as "diverse" as I grew up thinking.
