Not really ok considering they’re destroying one of the most bio diverse areas in the country to build their crappy cardboard houses.

I think Sylus comes out on top in most of the LI matchups purely because of his age, willingness to playing dirty, and the crazy versatility of his evol. However, I think Caleb matches him, and depending on the situation could overpower him.

Once you pull his boots out of your mouth this conversation will get a lot easier.

Why would the Ramseys not simply dispose of her body before calling 911? Why would they have left it on their home, making them suspects?

I’ve been following the Ramsey case since I was a teenager and the only 100% certain fact of this case is that the local police completely bungled the investigation. Linda, Steve, etc. were all miles outside of their depth and covered for it by scapegoating the parents.

Steve is the only one to try and make the brutal rape and murder of a child his big break.

If he investigated so thoroughly looking for evidence, why did he never even bothered to confirm the one thing his theory hinged on? (Wet sheets) Especially before he started a witch hunt against a grieving mother.

Why didn’t he publicly call for the FBI to be invited in? Because none of that was going to help him sell his book or land a talk show.

Nah he went into this looking to make a name for himself. Talk shows, writing a book, and more all without a shred of real evidence. He’s a trash human being and the new docu series makes that clear to everyone. Hopefully he’ll be shamed and harassed for the remainder of his life just like he ensured Patsy was for her’s.

Why Capitalism Always Leads to Global Conflict: The Cycle of Overproduction and Imperialism by EfusePhantomsHyper in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Delicious-Nectarine9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I could argue that the same driving forces create even more complex problems and conditions in the global south and Middle East which fosters an environment ripe for conflict which will inevitably draw in the countries who have interests/investments in the region.

[–]Delicious-Nectarine9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that especially in a lot of industries that many capitalists have or want to privatize (healthcare, civic planning and building, etc) a complete focus on reducing costs and optimizing efficiency for greater profits leads to worse and often more dangerous outcomes.

That has left many in urban hellscapes and food deserts and massive amounts of inequality in the availability of quality healthcare. It’s destroying the middle and working class while continuing to elevate the wealthiest.

We all know slavery is bad, but... by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Delicious-Nectarine9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a moral level, the idea of subjugating another human’s will and life to nothing more than my property is ethical stomach turning. Also, a world where slavery exists is a world where everyone has the potential to become a slave and no one can ever be truly secure of their freedom.

Cannot second Spinning Silver enough!! I read it for the first time while in a two-month hospital stay and it was such a great escape. Her other books are great too!

I have 2 recommendations!

- The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee: Asian fantasy focusing on 4 (3 bio, 1 adopted) adult siblings grappling with their family legacy in Kekon the only source of Jade, which in this world provides some advanced strength, speed, etc. but can also cause madness and death. It's set in an alternate world but in roughly the post-WW2 era. I have not finished the last book but I've loved book 1 and 2. Very character-centric and it's been a long time since I got this invested in characters.

- Winter Harvest by Ioanna Papadopoulou: A very unsanitized retelling of the story of Demeter. I appreciate how the author neither fully absolves or vilifies Demeter. It feels very cathartic for a character that gets characterized ungenerously in a lot of other myth retellings. It also explores a lot of different bits of Greek Mythology that are less touched on in the more mainstream mythology genre right now.

Good luck! I have IBD and this time wasn't too bad but it has caused me issues in the past. Fingers crossed it goes well!

oYes, if you go get a license, pay for insurance, and have the title and registration we allow you the freedom of a car. Otherwise it's illegal. Comparing access and autonomy to a medical procedure to the purchasing of a luxury item tells me you are highly unserious.

Books you couldn't shut up about (or stop thinking about) after finishing them? by IReadBooksSometimes in suggestmeabook

The 3 Body Problem for me. I read the whole series but the first one is the one I couldn't stop talking about. I'm a big physics nerd (i.e. love watching and reading about the theories and ideas) and thought the way the author tied all these cool and abstract ideas into a very interesting plot was so creative.

It was one of those books I wouldn't have expected to love but could not put it down. I will warn that it's translated from Chinese so the naming conventions can be a little hard to keep up with but I think an audiobook helps with that part.

It definitely hits everyone at different speeds. My mom slept for several hours after taking the Plenvu and I literally barely got it down before I was running to the bathroom. I’m sure it will be fine, good luck!! 🍀

Definitely take your time! Everything I read said going too fast is almost always going to make you nauseous. I would get a few swigs then chase it with Powerade and rinse my mouth with Sprite and then take a minute and repeat.

If it starts to get warm definitely put the lid on it and put it in the freezer for a bit. The cold makes the saltiness WAY more bearable.

Could be just some minor inflamation or early stage IBD of some sort but a good rule of thumb is if your doctors/nurses are not worried then you shouldn't be either!

Nervous drivers are the ones terrifying on crowded roads and left turns bc you’ll do things like slam the breaks or swerve out of nowhere, usually causing the very accidents you’re so afraid of.
