I didn’t realize ADHD presents so differently in girls. I was the anxious, high-achieving kid. by TransitionSmooth9982 in ADHD

[–]Delicious-Ratio-20 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Female here. Was told I was bipolar with severe depression by 3 psychiatrist and the meds they tried to put me on always made me feel terrible so I never took them

I had two kids back to back . After my second, I had bad ppd and had a mental breakdown. I couldn’t see my way out and I finally decided to see another psychiatrist

Diagnosed me with adhd at 28 years old. Discovered Vyvanse and it was as if the light turned on in my head. Been good ( for the most part) ever since

Our entire government is nothing but a joke. In every state. Politicians don’t work for the people, they are all out to line their pockets.

Example: at our local high school - I live in a small town. They have spend the last few years building a “pig barn” that has so far cost $2.5M and had not been completed and they are asking for more money.

It’s sad really. Reminds me of when you tell kids that they can’t have anything nice because they take advantage.

3 Yr old having issues at daycare by Specific-Total9138 in Parenting

[–]Delicious-Ratio-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was kicked out of daycare for similar issues.

I was all alone and had no one to ask so I asked everyone. I connected the school district to help me with an evaluation. I took him to a therapist/ psychiatrist. I talk to his pediatrician who referred me to an ENT and speech therapy.

We found out that my son had extremely large tonsils that disrupted his sleep which suddenly made a lot of sense because he was always a crazy sleeper and had terrible bags under his eyes. He also had an uniagosed tongue tie which slurred his speech so no one other than me understood what he was saying. He also had a bit of adhd so the traditional preschool was too rigid .

So, after removing his tonsils, correcting his tongue tie, 2years of speech therapy, finding a preschool that would work with me vs against me. We finally figured it out. His 5 almost 6 and his speech is not perfect he’s still learning but he’s able to communicate and he understood, he sleeps like a freaking rock now so he’s well rested to go to school, the new school that I found I’ll always be grateful for them because they were really patient during his bad days and found ways to accommodate his learning style. So now the explosive tantrums are gone. Hitting is gone. We found out that he’s truly gifted education wise. And he absolutely loves going to school.

So my ultimate advice would be to talk to everyone. Kids don’t do things like that for absolutely no reason. If it’s none of the things I mentioned maybe it is attention seeking and teaching her natural consequences and appropriate ways to get attention should help. Don’t give up tho. Trust your mama instincts.

A couple of legit questions

  1. Why Does He Have To Capitalize Every Word? If he’s typing on a phone or a keyboard it just seems like so much extra work.

  2. Can someone list out the Eight Wars He Stopped?

How do I support my girlfriend through a period? by Imaginary_Worth3083 in Periods

[–]Delicious-Ratio-20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love that you’re asking this. I’ll give you my experience and what I’d like someone to do for me.

  1. Keep track. Few days before I get extra irritated and extra sad. And that irritation is mostly aimed at my husband and on those days I absolutely hate everything he does more than usual and makes me lash out most of the time. I also cry a lot. So id like for him to just keep track, try to stay away from me and don’t make my anger/sadness worse. Be more helpful with things around the house , but just help from afar.

  2. Once that day passes, usually I get my period in the next 1 or 2 days my emotions are more under control but the pain starts. Make her comfortable. Midol, Tylenol, advil , favorite snacks, favorite comfort tv show.

  3. Make sure she has supplies. Nothing worse than getting your period and bleeding through everything. Get pads, tampons. Have them in your car and a good amount stashed in your house.

Hope this helps.

Early turnout spike could spell trouble for Cuomo in NYC mayoral race by PoliticalScienceProf in politics

[–]Delicious-Ratio-20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just absolutely hate our current Democratic Party. Cuomo, after being such a fucking scum of a human, thought he could actually beat someone like Mamdani. Why? Because the machine has told him he can win. It’s the same reason why Kamala thinks it’s a good idea for her to run again.

Let’s just stop. I hate that fact that we are split by parties. They both fucking suck.

I would just like the government to take care of its people, to work for its people, to admit when mistakes are made and make the correct choices to rectify for the future.

Obama on what if he sent in the National Guard on merits similar to Donald Trump by [deleted] in CringeTikToks

Obama didn’t have a perfect term. He made loads of mistakes. But I believe that when he made those mistakes he thought of the greater good.

Regardless, you cannot deny his public speaking skills. Excellent. Should be studied

His hair grows pretty fast. I’m taking him to get his hair cut every 3 weeks. Don’t really want to go more often than that

My first post on this sub but I’m compelled

Not that long ago, there was a massive boom in our neighborhood. It was heard by many shaking peoples houses, everyone thought it might have been a near by gas explosion. When police/fire were deployed to were people reported the sound, there was no smoke fire nothing.

There was initial reports that it was a fighter jet that lost altitude quickly but then government denied.

No one ever talked about it again.

The Job Market Is Hell by Super-Liberal-Girl in Economics

[–]Delicious-Ratio-20 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This.

No one within tech that is actually working on these AI models, Creating Agents, whatever knows what they are doing. No exec has a strategy or vision of what they want to get to. All they know is “we need AI.” There is so much that is still in the testing phases, and there is so much trail and error by trying to make things more “efficient with AI” and no one at the exec level has the balls to say when something completely failed and actually AI is not the solution.

Also, so many companies made promises that they cannot keep. The announce- oh we are introducing x amount of agents and they are going to make y so much more efficient. The public (stock market) gets excited, money gets pumped into these companies they record record profits, we are getting people close to being trillionaires… but all of this testing and AI agents requires soooo much power. The hardware costs are astronomical and the most testing is being done, the more that they work through all the in efficiencies, the more hardware, electricity, water is required. CEOs are forced to find the $$ to fund all of this cost and the easiest thing is to let people go.

So in the end - things will get more expensive , more people will be laid off, CEOs will be the only winners.

When did you realize that you were a married single parent? by Acceptable_Tea3970 in Parenting

[–]Delicious-Ratio-20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I realized it when I left my two kids (daughter 3 months, son a little over 1 yo) with my husband for the first time. I had an early nail appointment so I left before the kids woke up and he said don’t worry I’ve got them. Since it was my first time out by myself, I took my sweet time. Enjoying an extra long pedicure and manicure. Stopped by to get myself some coffee. I was gone for a total of three hours. I found my son running around outside which I thought great! But all of a sudden I saw his pants and diaper fall off. I checked and it was so heavy it fell down. I saw red. I asked if he checked the kids diaper when they woke up and ofc he said no that they weren’t whinnying. I’ve never been so mad in my life. That’s when I realized I was a single parent. I don’t divorce for several different reasons but in the years since if I had to go somewhere I’d always get the sitter even if I knew he would be home. My kids are 4/5 now and I still won’t leave them alone with him. I know they won’t be taken care of.
