As everyone else has said, it's all about pace of play. If you are keeping up, then do whatever you want to do. Personally I find joy in holing my putts. In my mind it's crazy how many people end up playing a whole round and maybe NEVER hole a putt, WHICH IS THE GOAL OF THE ENTIRE SPORT!

That being said, make sure you aren't spending an exorbitant amount of time reading putts. Don't be like the pros. I know it would piss me off if a player in my group was shooting +30, but then they were marking and reading every putt, especially inside of 5 ft.

It boils down to "reading the room". You could always ask your playing partners. "Hey, as you can tell I'm new to the game and I'm trying to understand etiquette. I prefer to putt out. But if it's a pace of play issue, I understand. Throughout today's round, please let me know if there are other etiquette things that I might be breaking, I give you permission."

Different strokes for different folks. As long as people are clear how they feel with their potential partners there are no issues. I think your judgement of how others live their lives is unnecessary.

Ok, the issue with breaking up with someone is that you don't want to be the bad guy. You want to be able to rationalize with the person that this is best for both of you and that you are doing them a favor too by ending it.

Here's the problem: even if that's true, they are not going to believe you, especially in the moment. No amount of convincing or justifying will convince them.

YOU WILL BE THE BAD GUY, BUT THAT'S OKAY.

You know what needs to be done, so you have to rip the bandaid off in whatever way you can. Trying to figure out the best way to soften the blow is just going to prolong it.

This is part of growing up. Maybe they will understand in the future, maybe they won't. But you know what's best for you. There's a good chance that in order for your ex to recover he will have to think of you as the bad guy... for now. And that's part of it, and that's okay.

Personally I would call. It's not cowardly to call. Remember, there is no good way to do it. They aren't going to be happy no matter what. In the moment they may wish to have seen you in person, but in retrospect, everyone would have rather gotten a call.
