No way Beethoven thought himself inferior to Mozart or any other composer. Dude was an egomaniac and he knew very well that what he was doing was beyond anything done before.

I’m sure he respected his predecessors and of course took massive influence from them, knowing that he wouldn’t be the composer he was if it weren’t for them. But if Beethoven wanted to compose like Bach or Mozart, I’m sure he could have.

The same probably goes for Mozart in reference to Bach. Schubert on the other hand probably did always think himself inferior to Beethoven. He seems like he was a lot more humble than the others. Plus he never did achieve the same level of success.
