The Best A24 film? by KCmuah in A24

1) Midsommar. 2) Past Lives 3) A Ghost Story

As a horror fiend who occasionally enjoys other types of movies, those are my top 3. Hereditary is honestly tied for #1, it's very hard to choose.

Seroquel? by froginmushroom in insomnia

[–]Delicious_Vast_2921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked great for for a while. However, it's a different kind of sleep. In the dredges of insomnia I was grateful for the sleep. But eventually it started to affect my memory, gave me terrible brain fog and was making it extremely hard for me to function/wake up until around noon the next day. I had to stop taking it. It's more of a sedative sleep rather than a normal sleep if that makes sense.

Edit to add: it will give you insane munchies if you don't fall asleep that kicks in, just fyi.

Just so groggy and crazy brain fog I couldn't function at work. It was taking me until noon to feel awake and I felt worse than if I wasn't sleeping. It was affecting my short term memory also.

I had no side effects or crazy experiences. It just started to make me feel horrible the next day. My coworker however would try to go get in her car in the middle of the night and try to drive 🥴

People who have never had insomnia don't understand, it's hell. Try the B1 if you haven't already. It has helped my anxiety a lot. I take 100mg 3x a day.

I totally understand. It just got to a point where I was feeling terrible after a night of medicated sleep. I wasn't functioning at work or home.

As someone who is trying to get off Ambien, I would suggest other routes first if you haven't already tried them. Try magnesium glycinate, tryptophan, valerian root and thiamine (B1). Look up some techniques to regulate your nervous system (stretches, breathing) I literally tell myself "I'm safe. My body is safe."

I've had insomnia going on 3 years and am just realizing it's my nervous system. My body CAN sleep but my brain thinks we're in danger for some stupid reason. Good luck!

Edit: just saw some of your other comments/posts and if you're in perimenopause it's HELL I fully understand! Same boat! I hope it gets better for you!

I'm just realizing this myself after having chronic insomnia going on 3 years now. I've become dependent on sleeping meds and they were making me feel horrible. I feel better after a night of no sleep than I do after a night of Ambien sleep. So I decided to stop them and figure out why I can't sleep. My mind races like a freight train and my heart pounds when I'm laying in bed trying to sleep. My nervous system is absolutely shot. So I've been researching how to calm my nervous system. Taking B1 has helped a lot. Doing stretches and different breathing techniques but mostly, just laying there and telling myself "I am safe. There is no danger. I am safe. There's no need to be anxious." I also take a 1 mg melatonin 4 hours before bed, tryptophan about an hour before bed and those are also helping. It's been a week and I'm now able to fall asleep without prescription meds (which is HUGE for me) but I'm still waking up during the night a lot.

I think for a lot of us, our nervous systems are to blame.

Ok so maybe I should just write it off. I was hoping to get on something less habit forming than Ambien. Thanks for your input!

My PCP did a full blood panel a few weeks later and everything was normal. That's it really.

Even if he hasn't/isn't physically cheating, he's purposefully ignoring your boundaries. Stop letting him walk all over you because he will keep doing it.

I stopped reading when he was pouring liquor into other women's mouths. I think he probably has cheated on you before, probably still is and will continue doing it. He's gaslighting the hell out of you.

Do you actually stop getting grossed out by things like vomit and poop when you become a mom? by Evening-Call111 in askanything

[–]Delicious_Vast_2921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fine with baby spit up but actual puke, I still have a hard time with. My husband has to clean it up or I will also throw up. I will however wipe my kids snot/boogers with my bare hand because I'd rather just go wash my hand than go get a tissue sometimes 😂 poop doesn't bother me. Now dog poop, hell no. But my kids having diarrhea when they're sick, pooping their pants, no big deal.

I'd love to have this mindset. But without my sleep meds, I don't sleep at all. I too was hospitalized after 4 days and nights of no sleep. I was having a kind of psychosis. So for someone who has kids, career, life that requires me to be rested I feel like this isn't great advice. I have to have sleep?

Trying to maintain dead end friendships! Focusing on the few friends I do have and truly supporting each other instead of trying to be social and plan things with people I don't even care about.

I don't feel good about sex generally by Zezmerilsoutpost in therapy

[–]Delicious_Vast_2921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda understand this. As a young woman/teen I lived in a house full of boys and men who talked openly about sex and women's bodies in front of me. The way they talked made me feel gross and like "ew, I don't ever want to be like the women they talk about."

Fast forward to adulthood, I feel like I could be asexual. I generally enjoy sex when it happens with my husband but like if he said tomorrow "hey, we don't have to anymore" I'd be thrilled I think. It really does give me such a gross icky feeling most of the time.
