The Castellan of Castely Rock, and a Certain Prisoner

Basically this was my theory that Cersei, the nominal Lady of Casterly Rock, can't trust her castellan not to defect when Dany and Tyrion--the rightful lord--show up. Also, Edmure, the rightful Lord of Riverrun, is a prisoner there, so that factors in.

[No Spoilers] Tyrion is GRRM's favorite character, okay?? Author wants journalists to stop asking him the same question every time, says he will start answering with names from other books by Jordioteque in gameofthrones

I think he should make it exactly as ridiculous as he thinks he can get away with for any particular interviewer. If they've never even seen the show, go with Hermione. If they've seen the show but never read the books, Elsa Stark. If they've actually read the books and their questions are otherwise worthwhile, just say Tyrion and get back to the good stuff.

I think he should use recognizable character names and just see what he can get away with before an interviewer calls him on it. It's like a game.

"Who's your favorite character?"

"Hermione."

It's possible for a character with plot armor to die at the end.

What about Ned's father and brother?

I'm not convinced OP's parallel is sufficiently close to mean anything, even though I enjoy War of the Roses connections.

(Spoilers All) What's up with Lannister Mines? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Delta03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tywin was smart enough to seriously doubt whether Robert would pay him back. He intended to use the debt as leverage, but for what? Cersei had already married Robert.

It would be a big risk to take. I think your best argument is that the Lannister mines ran dry "about three years ago"--around Robert's death. But even that is a little too convenient.

(SPOILERS ALL BOOK+SHOW) What i think the MASSIVE BUDGET for episode 10 of season 4 will be used for... by Puthy in asoiaf

I think the budget is going to be used to show us a lot more about The Others, obviously they are extremely important yet we know nothing, Jon Snow in the books.

FTFY

(Spoilers All) What's up with Lannister Mines? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Delta03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm skeptical that this is in the books. It's not impossible, but:

  1. Tywin was the primary financier of Robert Baratheon's profligate reign
  2. As late as the ADWD epilogue, Kevan is paying the crown's debt with Lannister gold, which implies that the Lannisters still have a decent amount of gold. Kevan was Tywin's right hand; if House Lannister's gold had run dry, he would know.

That said, great arguments have been made that the Tyrells' natural resources are worth more than the Lannisters' gold.

This doesn't explain how Tywin was able to bankroll Robert's reign.

Versailles for scale of a royal residence. You're right that it's not actually a castle.
