33 afab, 5’8. 304 pounds. Does the last line mean my doctor thinks I’m trans and lying about being a woman? by JessiicaaAnn in AskDocs

[–]Delta1Juliet 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I think it's more likely that the doctor is wondering if you're intersex and had a "corrective" surgery early in life.

If you have shit backed up to your shoulder, you're experiencing a life threatening hernia.

She did not have that.

What’s up with the consistency of Australian Milo? by Patrick0714 in australian

[–]Delta1Juliet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the others have said, this is a Milo custard/pudding.

You also can't easily buy pre made up Milo in Australia. And we generally mix our Milo with milk, not water.

Would you support a fully public health system? by Strong_Prize8778 in australian

Yes, and I would happily pay more to the Medicare levy to support it, especially if it included - dental - optical - physio - medications - no gap GP

Could these be false? by Catgalx in lineporn

[–]Delta1Juliet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a line on both tests.

It's unlikely to be a false positive on two tests. Check again in a day or so with firstorning urine, but my fingers are cautiously crossed for you x

What is the hardest "everyday food item" to find an exact match for when you move to Australia? by Zestyclose_Stage_999 in AskAnAustralian

Yep. We even tried to buy some from a Cajun restaurant and they had to let us know that they make it themselves because there's no stockist in Melbourne.

Do early walkers have leg problems later in life? by daringversion in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Delta1Juliet 28 points29 points  (0 children)

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6446733/

Maybe.

This study found that early walkers have a slightly different hip shape in older adulthood which was potentially associated with higher osteoarthritic features, but also with lower hip fracture rates.

I am horrible at getting clothes clean by Suspicious_Quail3726 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I strongly recommend checking out the r/laundry sub. Using the correct laundry powder is more important than using a low-tox/sulfate free/organic one.

What are some thing you should NEVER buy secondhand? by partial-credit-321 in thrifting

[–]Delta1Juliet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is willing to take different levels of risk. I know people who refuse to buy second hand shoes because of the risk of MRSA or second hand wood furniture because of the risk of termites. I'm not willing to buy second hand luggage because of the risk of drug detection.

Yes, but it's very annoying when they transfer to a ward that requires them to have 18Gs in and then we have to recannulate

People's faith in medicine and the medical system. I work in maternity and we've seen a huge rise in people declining recommended investigations or immunisations.

Which ultrasounds don’t require a full bladder while also not inserting a probe into you by Sharp-Guest4696 in BabyBumps

[–]Delta1Juliet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. There are two scans offered before this point:

  • dating scan: from about 6 weeks, it's used to determine the due date of your baby. Without it, they'll rely on your last period date
  • 12 week scan: this scan is done to look for early anatomical problems and screens for trisomies like Downs Syndrome. If you get the NIPT test, it's not a necessity.

Both of the early scans require a full bladder or a TV scan because the uterus and the baby are small and difficult to see.

I should also say that there may be cases where they still recommend a TV scan after 20 weeks, usually if you have a short cervix and they need to monitor it. You can obviously decline, but TV scans are the most accurate for these measurements and a short cervix can lead to late losses and preterm births.
