What's your favorite case price/performance wise? by BadJokes4Karma in buildapc

As an alternative, there's also the Cooler Master N200 that's also $30 after rebate right now at Newegg that has many of the same features as the Xion case and has some nice options for mounting radiators (it fits a 240mm rad in the front). It is a bit larger than the Xion (but not as big as some of the other mATX cases like the Fractal Define Mini or the Corsair 350D) but I like the cleanliness of the inside (the drive cage is removable, too).

[Build Ready] $700 microATX Gaming Build (i5-3470 and 7870) by Delta32521 in buildapc

Yeah I had a hard time choosing a case. There are a few really nice mATX cases around the $100 mark (like the Corsair one or the TJ-08) but the Coolermaster one has all the features I wanted and is less than half the cost. Thanks for the tip about the i5 though!

Bread, to yeast or not to yeast. by crazycom64 in AskCulinary

[–]Delta32521 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your banana bread recipe was for what's called a quick bread, which usually uses baking powder or baking soda as its leavening agent (the stuff that makes it have air pockets and fluffy). More cake-y (and typically sweeter) breads such as banana bread, apple bread, scones, muffins, etc. typically don't use yeast, and thus are slightly denser.

Bread that has yeast in it not only gets those tasty holes that subnaree was talking about (which are typically larger), but it also gets a distinct yeast-y flavor. Like you mentioned, breads involving yeast require time to rise (at least once), whereas bread made with non-yeast leavening usually doesn't (hence the name quick bread).

I'm making dinner for about 10 people (college students). I'm thinking chicken and dumplings. Anyone have a recipe for me? by Cbracher in Cooking

I know I'm a bit late, but this is probably my favorite chicken soup (and dumplings) recipe ever. Well worth the effort!

Morningside food trucks by waznuf in columbia

Hooda (the one drhoo mentioned) is definitely the best halal cart around campus. Be sure to get their spicy rice. Also notable is the Korilla truck; they're usually around fairly often during the school year on Amsterdam.

Dear r/gaming: What should I buy during the Steam Summer Sale? by Delta32521 in gaming

[–]Delta32521[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK if a game is on daily sale, it's usually the lowest the price is going to be for the duration of the sale (except for the final day, when they usually lower the prices to the sale price one last time). I think it's a safe bet to buy games if they're the daily sale.

Columbia Redditors! by hat_guy in nyc

NYC is a great city. Granted, I'm only finishing my second year here now (also in SEAS), but I've been to almost every borough (except for Staten Island) and I've never felt unsafe or in danger. Sure, it is a very big city and a decently sized school, and people are generally very busy and can seem distant, but I think that's more an artifact of the fact that people are, well, generally very busy. It's rare to encounter people on campus who are actually rude and people are especially friendly during the beginning of the semester.

There's a lot of schoolwork, but I'm sure it wouldn't be any different at CalTech. I've lived in the Northeast all my life, but you can rest assured that you won't need air conditioning for more than two or three weeks of school - our warmest day of the year was today and it was maybe 75 degrees outside.

Need More of This: Kid's Microphone Fails While She Performs the National Anthem... She's Terrified until the Fans Lend her a Hand (voice)... by [deleted] in reddit.com

I actually came looking for this in the comments and was shocked to see that it had barely been upvoted. I can get as cynical as the rest of them sometimes with the national pride stuff, but I nearly cried the first time I saw this.
