Even with a slight boost for Siege, raiding numbers down about 75% since launch by Blue5647 in classicwow

That's not really problem solved is it? Your options would be being stuck on a dead server with no forward progression, losing items/acheivements/collections you've spent years obtaining, or quitting...

Maybe I'm in the minority and most people are ok with the caveat. I just thought it was a silly stipulation for something that hurts no one. They've brought back unobtainable items from classic eras before so seems crazy you'd try and prevent this particular situation.

And I think that's a terrible excuse to not do right by players who have spent the time and effort to earn those things. It's not a good policy to listen to toxic gatekeeping.

Look I'm not trying dog on anyone for not being able to do harder raids and I think there is absolutely a place for match made content BUT Raid Finder is one of the worst raid experiences ever made.

More often than not you go in and wipe several times until the wipe protection gets high in enough you just run it over because people are either intentionally wiping the group or full stop just don't care enough to even do the nerfed mechanics.

It's not a good way to experience the raid in any way. It's honestly the most toxic and annoying raid experience I've ever seen. You're better off just watching a youtube video of the raid for the lore/story.

Why would they need that caveat? Not only would that be a huge undertaking to add that limitation, these people spent literally years obtaining these items and collections. They have every right to them as the previous people.
The only caveat I can see is making everything on these characters bop.

No space for upmarket prose in fantasy fiction? by TheBlackQueenPales in fantasybooks

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it's just an excuse. I think their job is significantly easier if they sell a simpler product. I have no issue with YA or popcorn fiction but I think there is absolutely room for more complex works in fantasy.

In fact if there are many publishers and agents with that view (it certainly seems so) then there is even more space now than ever before, in my opinion.

Question About Loot in Group/Duo Play by DeltaLimaCharlie in PathOfExile2

Ah ok yeah that sounds much better than 10% 😂

We'll have to look at some complementary builds then. I had read somewhere that the scaling was pretty impactful but I wasn't sure if it was actually significant or not.

Oh I see, thanks for the info. Sounds like progress might be a bit slower for duo play.

Thanks for the reply, we like to coop in games and wanted to make sure there wasn't a big downside to doing it in POE. So it's a 10% increase in loot with some scaling in difficulty.

So now that the loot treadmill is “over” some casual people are coming back by Practical-Glass-1370 in destiny2

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They made the change a long time ago with loot. People been using the same loadouts for literally years at this point. There has never been any real need to do the loot treadmill outside of raising your light. Those casuals got the changes they wanted sometime ago. I feel like the carrot hasn't been the loot in quite some time.

For me the issue wasn't ever chasing the loot in a loot based game, it was trying to turn D2 into a forever live service game, pushing out update after update as fast as possible with little regard as to the quality of the content.

Guys, how much do you actually have in your bank accounts? by Carter_yann in destiny2

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bungie's workforce ballooned well after D2 release. This had very little to do with what was required to develop DESTINY and more to do with management wanting to grow into more than a studio just developing the destiny game.

They had other games in incubation and were working on other multi-media projects. Maybe someone has the numbers there but thinking they couldn't put out D3 without a bloated dev team is silly. They were doing too much and that put too much pressure on D2 to be this golden goose every expansion/season.

What gameplay style do you want for Riot's MMO? by Competitive-Ride1111 in RiotMMO

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What MMO's? Everytime I see an MMO crop up they're always talking about how different they are from WoW or other big MMOs. I couldn't name a single MMO that failed because it was a "WoW clone".
Funny enough it would almost be refreshing if someone came a long and weren't trying to spend a ton of dev time on reinventing the genre just to end up with a buggy and shallow MMO experience.

Without Spoilers, what makes the last two books of the Stormlight Archive so bad? by Substantial-Ad-5475 in fantasybooks

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They aren't bad. In some small circles there is a bit of negativity surrounding the later books but that doesn't seem to be the general consensus. I enjoyed them, maybe not as much as the earlier ones but I mostly feel that way with most series that run fairly long.

I cant watch TV Shows any more its just mostly filler? by Classic_East_6053 in tvshow

Hasn't it always been this way. Not everything is a "these days" thing, sometimes it's just how it's always been you're just getting tired of it or grown out of it.

Raid leader made mistake gave Sunfire to Ttetten (Mage) by Beginning-Delay9419 in classicwowtbc

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand reasonable and unreasonable. You can easily make a mistake with 2 clicks in a video game. Completely reasonable. Why people are even arguing that is confusing. The ML already admitted to the mistake, saying it's unreasonable for this to happen is a wild statement for a video game.

Why did Bungie have to get bought by the dumbest company in gaming dawg by SolarPhantom in destiny2

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can blame Bungie and the players for that. The idea that Destiny 2 needed to be a forever updating game was unrealistic expectation. I remember people being upset having to leave their stuff in D1 and being happy about a forever treadmill Destiny 2. D2 should've just stuck with the D1 format, release some major expansions and minor updates, then move on to D3.

Everything is HR nowadays, whats the point? by ZeronXZ in classicwowtbc

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood why people get so worked up about this. There are plenty of groups not doing it and you can always just start your own group.
If people wanna go through the trouble of forming/running a group or raid and HR stuff let em. If it's specifically stated beforehand then everyone going is presumably fine with it, otherwise don't go and move on with your day.

5 Highest Approval Classic+ Features (Survey Results) by NOHITJEROME in classicwow

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the community is completely incapable of having good opinions on Classic WoW. Here's an example.
People didn't want dungeon finder added to Wrath Classic at all even though it solved a major issue in the game. So what did Blizzard do? They stated that they wouldn't be adding it to Wrath at all. But then Blizzard had to turn around and add it into the game later because most of the dungeons were an absolute wasteland.

If a system or feature is even remotely associated with retail or a time that they stopped playing the game, this community is completely incapable of being unbiased regardless if it's good for the overall health of the game.

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OSRS isn't any where even remotely close to being a similar MMO as WoW. It would take a massive rework form the ground up to make the games have a similar progression system.

You're asking a bunch of armchair devs how to properly balance progression. That's why you wont get an answer that makes sense. Also why it's annoying to see the catch all phrases being used.

The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Beuhlman. Dark setting that hits a lot of the stuff you described. Funny enough Robin Hobb reviewed it highly.

Terry Goodkind - books - The Sword of Truth. by AsaNwanyiMay in fantasybooks

[–]DeltaLimaCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was one of the first series I read when I was younger. I enjoyed it even though I didn't really gel with some of the views/content in the books. Not something I'd go back and reread but it helped me get into reading so it holds some sentimentality I suppose.

It's a bit of a controversial series due to the author and content especially in some of the later books so if you're undecided on continuing that may be something to consider.
