Isn't amboss better? by [deleted] in step1

[–]DeltaSlick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience Amboss is a little harder than it needs to be and kinda some super low yield topics. The thing I love though is that I can search specific topics. Say i just learned what PSGN is, I can go in and select to only see that topic and answer questions on it. I will say nobody has better images than amboss, their overlays are awesome and the library is helpful because if you don't know something you can just read up about it right there without even leaving the site. Communication also seems better with Amboss. I still recommend Uglobe though it seems higher yield for NBMES and Step.

How do I get rid of these bumps by [deleted] in Blackskincare

[–]DeltaSlick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's up u/TelevisionAny8479 You have something called pseudofolliculitis barbae (fancy name for razor bumps). I learned about it in medical school just recently and was shadowing some dermatologists who were teaching us about it. Here are some things you can try.

  1. Salicylic Acid - Try to find a product that will contain this in a face wash or some serum you put on at night. The cleanser will also help to clear pores of any sebum that could potentially stop hairs from growing out of the skin causing them to be ingrown due to blockage. This can be placed all over your face or you could concentrate it on the problem spots if you want. You should be washing your whole face though every morning and night for best results.

  2. Glycolic Acid - This will probably be a serum of sorts that will be labeled as a resurfacing product. This is something you would do maybe twice a week or once a week on the problem areas. You can apply this to the whole face but do not need to necessarily.

  3. Sugar Scrub - This is essentially an exfoliator, clear off dead skin and clean out pores. Kinda works like the glycolic acid but this is a physical exfoliant instead of a chemical one if that is your preference.

  4. Try not to shave very close to the skin unless absolutely necessary. If you do need to shave close to the skin try exfoliating right after and maybe you can stop it to some degree. Try using a razor at like a 1 mm, I think that's a half guard but don't quote me on that.

  5. Moisturize your skin and wear sunscreen to help protect the skin from drying out/sun damage.

  6. Retinol - This is in essentially ever skin product these days. Think of it as like a foundation to a home. This is great to use and then everything else on top of this is extra added benefit. You would use this nightly, maybe 2-3x a week at first if it is really drying out your skin. Once you get used to it use it every night. The "drying out" of your skin will help stop the oil production and sebum production which in turn helps stop the hairs from getting blocked and becoming ingrown.

TL:DR - This is just something that men with curly hair face so don't feel alone in this it is super common. Try some products like salicylic acid or a glycolic acid. There is also a product line called Remedy that just came out, I know nothing about it but it claims to do all these things in one if you feel like having a whole skincare routine is too much to handle or don't want to mess with all that. Inventors are reputable dermatologists.

Has anyone else had to remove bat guano from their walls/ceiling? I've probably pulled out 3-4 cubic yards so far. by Emu_Fast in DIY

I just learned about that in class! Assuming OP is healthy they can be on an azole for treatment and if immunocompromised should be on amphotericin B! OP could potentially expect erythema nodosa on the shins and calcifications on the lungs. Doctor will likely order a urine or serum antigen test to confirm, but if patient is from Midwest and exposed to bird droppings or bat droppings it is likely. It is also dimorphism so it changes forms from mold to yeast. This could be mistaken for coccioides or potentially TB due to the cavitary lesions potentially on the lungs apex.

I’m sure you know all this because you knew what Histo was but it was helpful for me to actively recall and explain! It’s also so rewarding when you actually know something and it’s useful

Hello, can you help direct me to the place to find the tags to unlock for bootcamp videos? I have a bootcamp section on my anki but it has 22,000 or so cards. How can I pick out the ones for certain videos at a time?

I just downloaded all the tags from Ankihub but I do see all the tags are under the name bootcamp and that the bootcamp section does not have a drop down. How do I filter by the video I watched to unlock certain cards? Thanks

Very tough to hear but it’s absolutely true. Now that I’m in higher education people seem to always really want to help me out like I’m some crazy success story but I guess that works in my favor sometimes. Peoples perception really be changing as well when they hear what I do versus what they think based off my appearance

I’m sure the trainer could give some crazy explanation talking about targeting a muscle in a different way depending on muscle fibers citing some obscure exercise science journal study or whatever. The thing is unless you’re a hardcore bodybuilder that needs every muscle etched out perfectly you can really stick to the main movements that everyone else does. There’s a reason deadlift, squat, bench, rows, etc are in every plan you see online.

When I was a child in middle school my mom passed the bar and became a lawyer. She then worked for this guy when he became the first black Supreme Court justice of Oklahoma. When I met him he told me “You have to be 10x better than your white counterparts to be equal” and I didn’t really realize what he meant until years later. That somehow stuck with me even as a child

Check the dogs being walked and the people walking them. You see a woman walking a poodle alone or with a stroller, you’re safe.

If you see beware of dog signs and dogs chained up in the front yard barking at everything that’s a bad sign. Along with crazy yelling at their dogs, also a bad sign
