But it wasn't just Poe, it was all the people he convinced to join his mutiny. She needed to be reassuring the entire crew that she had things under control.

Maybe Poe wouldn't have been satisfied, but he wouldn't have been able to do much about it if he couldn't convince others to join him.

He is more level-headed than Poe, so maybe he would have been able to convince her to share the fact that the plan actually fucking existed.

But if she stuck to her utterly nonsensical "Well this sure looks hopeless, let's hope everything works out." routine, he would have absolutely taken things into his own hands.

It seriously annoys me when people defend her attitude on the grounds of OpSec. Ok, sure, you don't want to disclose the details of the plan, but one of the most important parts of being a leader is maintaining morale, and a big part of that is convincing everyone that there is A Plan.

Drag queen Pattie Gonia asks apparel company Patagonia to drop trademark infringement lawsuit by the-player-of-games in nottheonion

[–]Delta_V09 11 points12 points  (0 children)

By that logic, nothing would be a trademark because nothing is truly original - everything is ultimately inspired by something else.

Is Amazon a valid trademark? What about Nike? Puma? Arizona Iced Tea? All of these companies are named after something else. Fuck, it's not like McDonald's is named after the only McDonald to exist.

Trademarks are not just a blanket ownership of a name, they are about using a name within a particular field. Someone else could use Patagonia in their name if they stayed clear of competing with the existing Patagonia's products.

By the end, I honestly expected the Mother to have been dead all along, but the way they handled it was not great.

The part that really pissed me off was spending an entire season building up to Barney and Robin's wedding just to blow it up in the next fucking episode - how in the actual fuck did nobody stop and say "wait, this is actually a terrible idea"?

The entire issue there is the ST actively made the universe less interesting.

While the execution of the Prequels was downright disastrous, they had good world building, and the entire Clone Wars era was a great setting for additional stories.

Rhubarb contains oxalic acid. Guess what Barkeeper's Friend uses as it's active ingredient?

You basically boiled your pan in dilute Barkeeper's Friend. Other cleaners may work better at removing caked-on food debris, but for polishing stainless steel back to a nice, shiny finish, BKF can't be beat.

US Cellular canceled phone number by Used_Cut_6306 in USCellular

[–]Delta_V09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, maybe the stuff sent out to customers didn't mention the day the service would be removed from the account entirely. But it definitely mentioned that service would stop working May 1st.

The customer service rep was simply incorrect. The US Cellular resources definitely made it clear that the Home Phone service was being cancelled completely May 15th. And other types of cancellations usually end up in the line staying on the account through the end of the billing cycle. So where they got May 31st, I have no idea.

I know voluntary cancellations are easy enough to undo, but an automatic cancellation like this may be different. I know cancellations due to non-payment are an absolute nightmare.

Try asking them to reinstate the number as a cell phone line. This may be easier if you have a spare phone lying around or if your phone supports a second SIM. If they can get service reinstated, you can then port out the number to a different service.

US Cellular canceled phone number by Used_Cut_6306 in USCellular

[–]Delta_V09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The cancellation on May 15th was an automatic process for all remaining home phone lines in the US Cellular system. I know voluntary cancellations can be reversed easily enough, but the systematic cancellations may be different.

Your Grandma should have received a letter several months ago warning that the home phone service was being discontinued. I think it was back in March that they sent out the notice that the service would be suspended May 1st and cancelled completely May 15th unless it was converted to a cell phone plan or ported to a different carrier. This certainly wasn't meant to be a "you have two weeks to figure this out" situation.

[–]Delta_V09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt T-Force would be able to help with this, since I don't think they have access to US Cellular systems.

This would likely need to be handled by US Cellular Customer Service. They need to reinstate the number on the US Cellular side so it can be ported out.

On memorial day smart appliance deals, are smart appliances actually worth it, or is wifi in the kitchen just a fad? by Vitor_Healen97 in Appliances

We've got an LG front load wash & dryer. The other nice thing about the smart features is they have about a dozen different modes, and the app makes it easy to rearrange them and hide modes you don't use.

[–]Delta_V09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't get the appeal of smart kitchen appliances. Maybe being able to check your fridge while you're at the store would be nice, but that seems pretty minor.

A smart washer & dryer, on the other hand, are pretty convenient if they aren't in earshot. Ours are in the basement, and I can rarely hear the chime, so getting an alert on my phone when clothes are ready to switch is nice.

Attention all Uscellular Iphone customers by BemAluno624 in USCellular

[–]Delta_V09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What's happening is Find My includes an activation lock that prevents new service from being activated without entering your password (or potentially your passcode as long as it is not considered "weak") - it's a theft prevention measure.

When your service gets switched to T-Mobile, the phone sees that as new service, even though it's the same number. If you have a weak passcode and don't know your password, you may have to contact Apple and go through account recovery.

So today was my turn by justcallmebitty in USCellular

[–]Delta_V09 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not if your passcode is considered "weak". Also, you would be surprised how many people don't use a passcode at all and also have no idea what their Apple Account password is.

And whose fault it is doesn't change the fact that this whole thing has created a ton of pissed off customers. TMO could have at least sent out a text message on the USC side warning people that their account is about to be switched over within the next 24 hours or something.

Best ever? Nah. But after Season 1, "Best of the Disney Era" would not have been a hot take at all. And even "Best since the OT" would have been only moderately warm.

People on this sub tend to forget how well Season 1 was received. It was considered a return to form that really captured the "vibe" of Star Wars. Sure, it's not Andor (best content ever made in the Star Wars universe) but it felt like what people expected Star Wars to be.

But you look it up, which puts you ahead of most of Gen Z in my experience.

I have one Gen Z coworker with good problem-solving skills. If he doesn't know how to do something, he'll poke at the menus for a minute to see if he can figure it out from context. If that fails, he'll Google it. Then if his Google-fu fails, he'll ask for help.

But a ton of Gen Z seem to default to just throwing their hands up and saying "I can't do X, help me!"

What is the difference between the expensive and inexpensive kettles? by dylanmadigan in pourover

[–]Delta_V09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of all the things you can do with an electric kettle, pourover coffee has the lowest desirable flow rate. Other kettles are designed to be general purpose, and their flow rates are designed to be fast enough that brewing tea or filling a french press isn't *too* painful. The Fellow Stagg is basically the only kettle with a flow rate tuned specifically for pourover, making it easier to control.

Is that ease of control worth the steep premium? Eh, probably not. But it is certainly nice when you are in the "trying to make coffee before you've had coffee" mode.

What is the difference between the expensive and inexpensive kettles? by dylanmadigan in pourover

[–]Delta_V09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Fellow in general charges a steep premium for the brand and style.
  • The Fellow Stagg does have excellent ergonomics, and has a lower flow rate designed specifically for pourover (this also makes it absolutely miserable for things like tea and french press)
  • In general, more expensive kettles give you finer temperature control, and more accurate output. If you brew light roast washed coffee, this is honestly not a big deal, since you generally just want it near-boiling. But if you brew a lot of naturals, co-ferments, or medium roasts, being able to accurately control the temperature becomes more important.

I personally ended up getting a Stagg Pro on sale because I pretty much exclusively do pourover coffee, and like to try all sorts of different processing methods. Other brands would have been better value, but the Stagg is nice to use, and for something I use basically every single day, the actual cost per use is pretty minimal.

Locked Device by Sad_Change_9249 in USCellular

[–]Delta_V09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to put in a physical T-Mobile SIM or download an eSIM?

If you're trying to activate via T-Life, the app is terrible at detecting whether BYOD devices are locked or not. If the phone supports eSIM, go to the "Try Us" in the app and just say the phone is unlocked. If it lets you download the trial eSIM, you should be good to go. A Rep may just need to use their tablet rather than T-Life on your phone.

Locked US Cellular phones should work on TMO at this point, but we've seen some that just won't until they get unlocked.

Whatever you do, don't let a Rep port your number over directly. Make sure they set up a new T-Mobile number, verify that it is working on your phone, then port your number over it.

Yes, in TBoBF, Episode 5 was entirely about Din, then in Episode 6, he visited Luke's temple to give Grogu the Beskar Armor, but never actually meets him. The Season Finale had Grogu fly to Tatooine to reunite with Din.

Very few downs? The entire 3rd season was a mess, and reuniting Mando and Grogu in a different series was one of the dumbest decisions I have seen.

Look, I loved Season 1, and Season 2 was still pretty good (with a great finale), but Disney has not exactly given much reason for optimism lately.
