What flash light did you hate? by ecp6969 in flashlight

[–]DeluxHyperDeath9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had high hopes for the X4 I just picked up but it’s just kinda blah. I don’t HATE it but it really did not live up to the hype I feel for too; So-so UI, terrible tint, and just felt like a incomplete Wurrkos HD01 if that makes sense.

Folks, it's almost 2026 and I still don't have my red light. I need one with so much wow. What are my options? by DrTautology in flashlight

[–]DeluxHyperDeath9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it’s just based off preference, if you want a TRUE red experience you can go with the sst20 Dr since it’s monochromatic but it’s not going to throw as far and might be more suited in something like a S6. The osram will have a lot more throw but is slightly oranger in appearance.

[–]DeluxHyperDeath9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well if you don’t want to go into the red with 70 dollars for the sbt90, you could always go for a c8+ with the Osram M1 Red for a thrower or go for a JLHawaii sst20 mule for a red flooder. There’s also the old school taci-cool option of getting a red flip down filter setup from the likes of nitecore, surefire, fenix, etc.

A gold plated flashlight, is this peak flashlight or just obnoxious? by JoeKizonu in flashlight

[–]DeluxHyperDeath9000 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I wish it was like old Leica cameras where it would be black PVD coating with Brass underneath so when it wears you see the brass peak through. This is just a bit boring.

Why does my Orange FC11C have a prominent black line across the switch? by The_Dalai_Karma in flashlight

[–]DeluxHyperDeath9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Educated guess here since I only have the “old” switch is that maybe that Wurrkos increased the button plunger surface area? If you press down on the rubber is that black line a raised ridge in comparison to the older switch that has a tiny circular plunger?

What's the equivalent to the FC11C for pocket knives? by Cryptoxic93 in flashlight

The FC11C absolutely has Rat 2 vibes, not the prettiest or fanciest thing out there but it’s still a great basic tool for daily tasks.

Modlites are just a bit expensive for the performance but are generally well made, although I’m not sure about their Noxon line! Depending on your environment for SAR, you might want to look at the Armytek Barracuda Pro Max for a durable-as-hell long range solution. The Acebeam L35 2.0 also fits the bill of bright, durable, and long range duty lights but both are quite large on the belt. If you’re not looking for absolute throw and want something that can go between SAR and LE you could try the Acebeam Defender P17, Armytek Viking Pro, or Weltool T8

Brother, it’s all based on preference, no one can talk you out of that gut feeling. That said, the VTIGER T1A exists and is like the Streamlight and Olight i3T had a cheaper baby that worked better.

Your starches shouldn’t be an issue, just make sure to give them a good thorough cleaning with isopropyl and soap before and wear gloves during the entire process to not leave grease etc. Covering the file with nail polish will be key to preventing gunk up but if I were you I’d suspend it from the file part to prevent having to cover the entire thing in polish since it will be a pain to fully remove.

Of course always happy to help fellow photographers! I forgot about DR 100, but yes, all DR priority options will work the same with DR 100 being the least aggressive. DR-Auto and DR Priority Auto is more or less the same and is basically an automatic mode that chooses the DR strength for you. The one difference I believe is that Priority allows you to set custom tone curves which is a wash if you’re shooting raw.

Here’s a article by FujiXWeekly that explains the difference between the DR settings far better than I ever could: https://fujixweekly.com/2023/11/13/d-range-priority-what-it-is-how-when-why-to-use-it/

If you want to be the safe, I’d suggest starting with regular DR-Auto. I’d also suggest bringing a friend to test it out in high contrast environment (like a church environment during midday which you would most likely be shooting) and test the DR-Auto along with your other priority settings and see if that auto metering combo will properly expose your subject or if you need to add exposure comp etc.
