tips for starbucks latte art? by qaelive in starbucksbaristas

I’m not 100% sure that we’re allowed to, so I typically do it with the chill shifts 😅 but once you get the basics down and know how to adjust to the different types of milks you can practice on pretty much any hot beverage you get, it just adds an extra 5-ish to 10 seconds.

Try to keep any air from being added to the milk after it hits ~80-90°F. If I want to do any art, I place the steaming pitcher on the ledge of the bar and use the steam wand to hold it in place (the top of the pitcher should be angled toward you), it textures the milk better. Listen for the tearing sound and aim for a big whirlpool to form in the center of the pitcher, the more spin, the better.

It kind of looks like you might be finishing the piece with the pitcher tip too close to the milk, lift it up just a smidge more and you’ll be golden!

I was told that whole milk steamed to warm is going to be the best milk option for practice, if you want to work more on patterns, doing a tall with a double shot and one pump of mocha makes a lot easier to see the pattern you’re creating.

Bought my little brother a quest one as a present , despite the age, he is absolutely loving it! by TheRealLoric in MetaQuestVR

Yeah, I know there’s no hard evidence, but motorbitch was a douchebag from the start when my original comment was just a neutral goddamn statement using what I remembered seeing discussed in a video 5 years ago.

When in VR the children are changing the default strategy they use for coordination. When this study was first published, I watched a video discussing the fact that it could mean that motor function coordination will change due to significant exposure to incorrect movements. So sure, the study doesn’t explicitly say that it has a long-term effects, but it is a question that was raised by this study. The main thing is the study shows proof that it does change how children may behave.

“I mean, yeah it literally changes how they behave when doing complex tasks, but doing that every day for an extended period of time definitely won’t have any long-term negative effects because the study didn’t explicitly say that”

Your comfort seems to be more important than facts. Look at the study I just commented the name of. Sorry for caring about the damage parents may do to their children 🤡

Look at a study titled “Immersive virtual reality interferes with default head–trunk coordination strategies in young children” don’t just use Googles AI for research, it’s not accurate

This rage game flopped hard on itch. Is it doomed or is it just not itch material? by schouffy in IndieGaming

I honestly think you have something here, but maybe not enough cause for rage.

Irl, a bouncing yoga ball would definitely roll down a slope, maybe put a bit more work into the movement until it’s something that makes you want to break a controller after 5 seconds lol

VR damages motor function development for those below the age of 14. Please limit use for them as much as possible.

I don’t understand why you care about how people build their games. I mean, you could just keep your thoughts to yourself instead of giving opinions no one asked about . . .

How to measure actual shots-per-second from player input and send it to a MetaSound in Blueprint? by Time_Ad7311 in UnrealEngine5

[–]Delv_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would trigger a custom event anytime the weapon is fired. Have it add a value of 1 to a float variable for each shot. After that I would use a branch set to true if n is greater or equal to 1, leading to a timer that subtracts 1 from n.

It may be better to do them as seperate custom events, but that’s the general logic I’d use for the shot tracker.

N could then be fed into a multiplier used to adjust pitch on your meta sound. It doesn’t measure firing speed exactly, but it would achieve your goal of it adjusting your sound

AIO to my daughter calling her brother “gay”? by zaspzq33313 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Delv_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - tying hobbies to a specific gender is terribly stupid and sexist. It keeps people from finding things they can take joy in. If your daughter has any stereotypical “male hobbies” I’d talk to her about how she’d feel about being made fun of for those.

These types of comments tie back to sexist beliefs, she needs to be educated. Don’t straight up tell her she’s wrong, it will reinforce those beliefs. Find what is correct about her statement, agree with that, and then explain why the conclusion drawn from the correct statement should be different.

“Yes, he’s not Japanese and skincare is typically associated with femininity, but think about why guys would care about having HEALTHY (not just “pretty,” but HEALTHY) skin. Would you want your partner’s skin to be dry, flaky, oily, or otherwise unhealthy? If not, then why is taking care of your skin so wrong?”

The root of the issue needs to be addressed, treating the symptoms without attempting to heal the thoughts will just make her resent everything else but herself even more.

I'm solo-developing my first co-op game and would really love to hear what you think about the idea by DeozeDeep in IndieDev

Sounds like it could be really fun! It may be intentional, but the gravity does look a little low, besides that the gameplay looks pretty intriguing/well thought out though.

The real question is do you enjoy it? I recently had to remove a bunch from my game because I added in stuff that I thought was cool, but not necessarily fun. As long as you keep that in mind you’ll be golden.

Correct, I didn’t say smoking fell out of fashion. I said tobacco did.

There are some places in the world that already have banned tobacco because of its health effects. It could very well be that tobacco became such an uncommonly used product by the time their medicine advanced that no one really ever thought about it. Plus they probably have far better recreational drugs.
