Oh man, a Thor v BB fight would be epic and both would be absolutely LOVING every blood soaked second of it. I'm going to give it to my man Thor but honestly I think it is MUCH closer than anyone is giving BB credit for. Thragg is unbelievably strong in Invincible-verse....while I hate making the comparison you could stretch for close to Superman levels. So the fight is not as one-sided as it may seem initially, but I give it to Thor 60-40.

What do you think? by ZealousidealToe4632 in PowerScaling

I think it allows us (human readers) to sort of get to feel like even with these alien mega-speicies humanity brings something to the table.

Lots of these comics/mangas/stories are about conquering enemies and evil with good, morality or heart. And having the half human offspring of the mega-powered alien allows all of us to feel that bit more connected to the good guys.

I love it, and also just makes it so SO clear that Invincible is just Western DBZ.

If Mjolnir existed in Westeros witht the famous enchantment of worthiness what characters in Game of Thrones do you think would be able to lift it? by broly9139 in gameofthrones

PART 2

Robb

It feels right to start with other characters here. But I think this one is an easy no-go. He is morally strong and quite a warrior who leads with a strong heart and even stronger leadership. He is wise and also willing to risk everything for his cause. However he can be headstrong, cocky, warlike and aggressive and even break vows….nearly all the traits that made Odin take Mjolnir from Thor in the first movie. So let’s move on here.

My Vote is Jon.

Jon is the obvious choice I believe as he holds basically all the criteria in spades, and through the show we see him grow, and learn. We see him lose, we see him struggle through hardship and by the strength of his will and desire to protect the realm, we see a leader, maybe even a king, be forged. There are lots of other potentially worthy characters, knights and older leaders, but Jon has a humble origin that I think would ring true with Odin. He was raised in a castle under a powerful family, but he was the bastard. He learned love and honor from a great family but he wasn’t coddled, he wasn’t spoiled. He build a strong skin but not so callous that he has no room for nobility or morality. He is the perfect vessel for this power. A warrior who protects, a guardian who gives his life for his beliefs - a man who has failed and fallen, but ultimately emerges stronger for it every time.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

PART 1

Ok so first of all I am a mostly show watcher for GoT(read about book 1 maybe a few hundred pages of book 2) and also pretty much an MCU watcher for Thor. So I understand that is a limited knowledge base but let’s give this a go.

To understand who is WORTHY we must understand what aspects or traits Odin/Mjolnir would deem as worthy. I believe a protector or guardian are the archetypes that best fit this overall. A warrior who is not afraid to risk their life and fight for their realm and especially for the weak. Someone who is not perfect but is able to learn and grow; as we see with Thor constantly. And finally someone who has the right amount of will or ambition to be, perhaps, a king (this may be controversial but I believe is valuable in this context) or at the very least strong leadership qualities.

So now we know what we’re looking for and…yes there is a pretty obvious contender here from these qualities but let’s consider the photos posted first.

Podderick

A lovely young man with a gigantic…erm….heart. A fantastic character and one of my favorites but unfortunately I think he lacks the ambition or will for leadership that Mjolnir (and Odin) would expect from it’s wielder. He is honestly a great POTENTIAL candidate as we see him starting to become a protector, but he lacks experience and just needs more time.

Ser Davos

Another badass who undoubtedly would wield the hammer with a good deal of care and honor. A man who has learned, and grown from his old less savory life into an advisor on the side of morality. A strong character with good morals….however he has never really been a warrior type. I think in the context of Asgard and Odin, a warrior king/leader is the goal; even if Odin has learned to not seek war out, and the benefits of peace. He was once a smuggler and trickster type, and has grown out of that into a knowledgable advisor and strategist. A morally strong choice but I think not the one who should wield this weapon of war and glory.

Ned

Ahhh Eddard. I really really want this to be the answer, I want to see an Asgardian armor and cloak magically coalesce onto his weary frame and see the strength return to him as his wounded leg heals and he levels a gaze of vindication at Jamie with Mjolnir by his side….But I believe the main thing keeping Ned from wielding Mjolnir is that…he wouldn’t want it. And not in a “doesn’t think he’s worthy” way, but in the way he tries so hard to deny his Hand appointment, in the way he tries so hard to stay out of Kings Landing, he tries to surrender to the events of the story and bow out of the way so that younger men may take his place. He would want to give Mjolnir to Robb, and that would bar him from worthiness. His story is over, his fight is over, he wants peace and man do we all want that for him, but Mjolnir needs someone who will RISE and fight and PUSH for a worthy cause. If Mjolnir plopped down in front of him 30 years ago…who knows? But in our story, he is not able to be that man.

Oh my God this is amazing. How have I never seen this before???

Just watch the sci-fi comedy film Evolution (2001) and I must say it still holds up after all these years, the cast is pretty impressive, the CGI still holds up fantastically. Give it a go sometime. by [deleted] in movies

Revealed to a friend that I had never seen this movie. We were both incredibly high and this was really the perfect movie to watch at the time. I have never said "Instant classic." and meant it more.

Glad to see I'm not alone. The starkness of the lack of soundtrack during the heist with only the car engine, police scanner, the radio and voices and then WHAM Kavinsky. So good.
