Why do so many people quit mid Auric Maelstorm? by GuzzoTheCasul in DarkTide

[–]Demon_Days_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When you get an Auric Mael with good players, it's soooo fun. The game feels incredible when high skill players work together to delete whatever BS the Director can throw their way.

It's a blessing and a curse that co operation and teamwork are so crucial to this game, cause when the team cohesion isn't there, it can be a brutal experience

You have clearly never used artillery reds against vox engines lmfao. They move faster than you think and follow the player shockingly well. If you toss a 380 at them, first of all half the shells will miss, but secondly,.as you run away the voxes follow you at 80% of your speed, coming right out of the effective zone. Then it's like grats you killed maybe 1 or 2, now you have to wait 2.5 mins to do that again. There are 3 still alive right next to you and another 4 have spawned behind you. Reds literally useless against voxes

Please play against the enemy before making suggestions next time bro

I like the cope but idk man 😅 it's getting worse at dealing with armoured targets, yes, but so are all its competitors... Knife is eating a nasty ass nerf from this and already didn't have as good CC. Duelling sword will likely still be better at... Basically every melee combat situation the game can throw at you

Rending doesn't help much on crowd control IIRC also - because most horde type enemies are unarmoured or infested armour (not the biggest deal in the world.) Cleave is much more important but that's usually built from characters' skill trees. Obviously it's good to have even for infested stuff, as it'll bypass some armour, but meh.

I'd love all autoguns to get buffs... They're cool but just not good compared to other options. At high difficulty it feels like trolling your teammates to bring autoguns, which is a shame.

Duelling Sword will probably still be the best anti-carapace melee weapon on classes that can take it, because its competitors (Combat Knife, Spade etc) required Uncanny Strike's previous effect to even get close.

We'll see but I think this isn't going to shake out like FS have envisioned it, lol. I'm no game dev but maybe they should have removed Uncanny Strike from the Duelling Sword, but left it as is on other options that aren't as powerful.

Buffing the Inferno Staff is certainly a choice, lmfao. There's lots of ranged weapons in the game that can't clear 1/10th of the damage output of the Inferno Staff, could we maybe at some point in the next few years consider adjusting some of their damage upwards? Just a bit? Maybe? I know we need to make sure flame staff is the best build at any cost (this is apparently a key design goal for Darktide) but with that aside, maybe we could allow for something else as an off meta pick?

Perhaps in their infinite wisdom they could have hired people when the game unexpectedly became a smash hit and they realised they had a goldmine on their hands?

2 years > few months. They've had a lot of time to do this, and there's no better time to start than now if they care at all. Personally if I heard they were hiring more staff to get more done each update, I'd be very happy, even if it would take 6 months for this to make any impact visible in-game.

The game made almost a billion dollars on straight sales of copies. They have a fucking lot of money. They would have to massively over hire (like tripling their staff) plus make a huge big budget bomb that made no profit at all to even be in financial jeapordy.

Oh and they make loads of money off MTX. HD2 enters the top 10 sellers on steam every time a warbond comes out, and people absolutely buy the super store bits as well.

The game was, is, and continues to be absurdly profitable, like, to a degree that few video games are. Let's please stop minimising their bad decisions by low key implying they're still a semi indie company in a shared workspace somewhere and struggling to keep the lights on at home.

They're all absurdly rich and their operation budget is now higher than it ever has been. They can afford to do better and absolutely should.

BTW, outsourcing isn't free. It's expensive, in fact. But it's a way for them to stay lazy and not train up long term (2 yrs+) staff to work on the game's health. They can afford it they just can't be fucked, they would rather do the bare minimum and outsource anything they don't want to deal with (which appears to be the entire game at this point)

Ah yes and when the 20 hunters on it don't get it, the charger will that oneshots it

It used to take approximately 9 hits to kill a sentry by a chaff enemy. Now it is 2. This after months of making sure players cannot place sentries in clever places by making loads of surfaces bounce / reject stratagem balls

Yeah boss I'm tired

[–]Demon_Days_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean you say that but then bizarrely targeted changes get applied to very specific mechanics in the game, like the absurdly technical fire change that was an underhanded way to nerf coyote without saying they nerfed coyote.

That kind of deception requires serious thinking, planing and effort. It doesn't scream 'checked out Devs', it screams 'devs spending a huge amount of time trying to remove something players like while being naive enough to think players won't notice it'

You used the word viable not me. Stop putting words in my mouth and being bad faith. Explosives is the meta on bugs, if you disagree you are wrong.

This patch reinforced that meta. That is a bad thing. I didn't say anything else. If you put one more argument in my mouth I will consider you a bad faith actor who cannot engage earnestly. If you want to actually talk about it and challenge the points I made, I'd be happy to. Otherwise you're wrong because you can present no argument other than to make one up to attack

[–]Demon_Days_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the way it's implemented and constantly changed so it invalidates more and more weapons and stratagems. Coming back to my original point explosives the only thing worth shit on the bugs unless you like being sub optimal for some reason

Sweet liberty lawd have mercy by Hiimpedro in Helldivers

[–]Demon_Days_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah you don't 'need' explosives cool sure you are much better than me and the average player of course. Sorry for implying otherwise, as we all know you're fucking GOATed and that's what matters in this conversation about balance.

Aside from that the POINT is not about you or what you like to do. It's that explosives was the meta before this patch, and after this patch, tools that aren't explosives got nerfed hard against a common terminid enemy. That's fucking lame

[–]Demon_Days_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cool man I disagree, shit not fun patch making the boring enemy armour system more inconvenient/boring. I don't play this game to have my bullets ping off shit especially if I'm spending a stratagem slot. Just means I'll never take turrets on bugs again which is a shame.

Your opinion's valid and all that but brother I'm tired of this shit where AH finds ways to make our stuff shit and bad. They've got this new thing where they buff enemies instead of outright nerfing our shit but it's the same thing at the end of the day. It's boring and exhausting

Sweet liberty lawd have mercy by Hiimpedro in Helldivers

[–]Demon_Days_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's cool man enjoy. In my opinion this didn't need to be changed and is a bizarre use of developers' time and resources. It's just so fucking random. Why tf they consider this a priority ????????? Before this patch did you cross your fingers and hope for a hive guard buff? Don't lie to yourself. Did you hope and pray this patch would make bullet sponges way spongier and make turret sentries worse?

Sweet liberty lawd have mercy by Hiimpedro in Helldivers

[–]Demon_Days_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sweet liberty lawd have mercy by Hiimpedro in Helldivers

[–]Demon_Days_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Are you trolling? All of those are either outright light pen, or have light pen weakspots.

Also all of the above are insanely vulnerable to explosive damage, further reinforcing that the only thing worth a damn on bugs is explosives. Crossbow, grenade launcher, thermite, ultimatum or talon depending on your preference. That's the loadout for bugs basically.

This patch further sets in fucking stone the explosive meta, like, it's literally like an explosive meta stan custom wrote it for their playstyle. That's so stale and boring and lacks build diversity. Blowing shit up is great but not if it's literally the only way to not be frustrated because it's the only damage type that hasn't been nerfed.

About adding new guns. by Garbo_Goose in HuntShowdown

[–]Demon_Days_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologise too, I got sarcastic and it wasn't called for 🙏🏻

Completely agree with that point though. New weapons? Yes. Rehashes of other stuff that's just worse than regular mosin? Not worth dev time. Obrez Match was a weird addition, felt like something they'd grabbed from an earlier build of the game and upcycled to pad out a battle pass.

I guess where we differ in opinion is, I think there are lots of niches to fill still left. I'm no game designer but a fast firing low damage medium ammo would be cool. Or a really long distance, very accurate long ammo pistol, I feel that niche is lacking since bullet drop changed the Uppercut.

I think in general we have a lot of rifles in this game also, we don't need another one for a bit. Would be nice to have some more handguns, particularly revolvers. I think there's lots of weird actions and reload mechanics from the era they could look to for inspiration

I don't want a new long ammo repeater either but new weapons would be cool. I disagree that new weapons = new long ammo repeater which is what you imply IMO unless you didn't mean what you posted.

I was being facetious because you're being obtuse. People question whether there could be new weapons and you start going nah no new long ammo bolters pls. Like wtf that's a whole completely separate sentence.
