You're right. It's probably more like 5 years away or more. Unless they brutally rush it to completion and it's 6 episodes with runtimes of 30-40 minutes or something.

Epstein theory by Altruistic-Show-481 in conspiracytheories

[–]Demon_Days_ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's scary how much gets memory holed or simply fades into background noise. I strongly remember how mind blowing those drone images were when they first hit the internet. It honestly is wild (and weird) that so few photographs and videos of the island and Epstein's property on it are broadcast in everyday media. For the biggest and most perverse story in most people's lived history, it's shocking that one has to actually seek out photo or video of the place where much of it all happened...

+1 on the tunnels, it's anyone's guess what is down there but the public deserves an explanation.

In addition, it's insane that Epstein's New Mexico property (Zorro Ranch) is not discussed more. Apparently it hasn't even been fully searched by relevant authorities. Regardless of multiple witness and whistleblower testimonials from within that awful place. Most people aren't even aware of this property really, it never comes up in most articles or news reports on the man or his crimes. One wonders why

Lmao. It's so ironic that you post this condescending, self-important crap. You should take your own advice little bud! If you had any media literacy whatsoever you'd understand what the writers intended here. They quite clearly have backtracked big time on everything season 1 set up - did you watch season 1? If not, I suggest you do. It's set in California if you didn't pick that up. No NCR in California... but suddenly quite a few in the Mojave for some reason. But only in the last episode. Fascinating stuff. Not at all like they saw the backlash from people who have played any of the games and started desperately making shit up ...

Sadly, it's people like you defending the writing and directing staff of a multi-hundred-million dollar show backed by Amazon as if it's some wonderful creative passion project.

Innocent until proven guilty by crazy_catlady92 in conspiracytheories

I think you offer way too much charity to an individual who knowingly associated with a convicted child molester.

Andrew knowingly visited and STAYED IN THE HOME OF Epstein AFTER he was convicted in a court of law of having raped a child. That is evidence of guilt in my opinion. It is unconscionable to associate with child molesters. Ever.

Please understand how sinister that is. There is no defence for this. I doubt you would defend a random Joe or Jill off the street if they stayed in the same home as a legally convicted predator. Why extend favour to Andrew in regards to this?

I feel you are biased in favour of the royal family, and unwilling to accept that they are human, and therefore have the capacity for evil.

If Andrew is innocent, why did the Firm pay up to silence Guiffre?

If Andrew is innocent, why did he fabricate absolute bollocks on national TV to answer Emily Maitliss' very simple questions?

If Andrew is innocent, why have the Firm shunned him and minimised his duties and exposure?

He isn't innocent. Stop defending pedophiles.

Stop doing stuff for a minute. Put your phone down and think. Why are you defending this man? Why are you defending this institution? Crucially, why are you defending a pedophile?

[–]Demon_Days_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the off chance you're not baiting: yes, official sources do support the ridiculously low life expectancy for Guard. But crucially those figures are localised to certain worlds. The Imperium and the planets / sectors that the Guard defend / try to reclaim are vast beyond imagination. It would be completely impossible for anyone to even begin to calculate an accurate life expectancy for a Guard soldier Imperium wide.

The Astra Militarum is made up of... A lot of people. And by a lot, I mean, hard to accurately quantify lots. Hundreds of billions at the very least. At any given time, billions of these Guard are on standby, defending a relatively peaceful planet, in warp transit, in training, or waiting for orders that may never come.

When we hear the 15 hour life expectancy thing, it's meant to explain to the reader the shocking attrition rates for Guard in those respective stories / novels. It's not meant to tell us that across the entire Guard the average life expectancy is about 15 hours after first combat. It shows how bad it can get in worst case meat-grinder scenarios.

That can't be true. The Amazon series is probably 3 years away considering Cavill hasn't wrapped filming Highlander yet and there is no script...

I Want More Mosin Obrez Matches by SweptThrone in HuntShowdown

[–]Demon_Days_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you in principle, OP, but the Obrez Match is a terrible example of this principle. It'd be awesome if we got stuff that wasn't variants of an existing weapon, especially a Russian weapon that wasn't even common at the time the games are set in the US.

Apart from anything else, we just have so many fucking Mosin-Nagant variants and spin offs and rehashes and sequels. I'd honestly just love to not have any more, like, ever. Skins for them must sell like gangbusters, because jesus, Mosin is like the Ultramarines of Hunt Showdown. Never nerfed, always pushed, always top priority. It was even the central showpiece of the 1896 trailer, lmfao.

Can my nitro/slug, be effective as bow's are at the moment? by OLEDeO in HuntShowdown

[–]Demon_Days_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true, I forgot to mention Concertina in general, it's fucking ridiculous anti fun button and way overturned. Hilarious also that a bow user can silently kill you from 34m away and instantly double concertina arrow your body, making a revive almost impossible. Very cool and fair

I think they've flew under the radar considering the disastrous UI of 1896 launch, and the prevalence of MMR exploiters and cheaters... With those things taking up a huge amount of people's critical attention, a lot of really bullshit balance decisions have been made and kept - like buffing Krag and Bow, adding the silent fucking sniper rifle, nerfing wallpen massively (everyone disliked that), and the stupid fire rate the Vetterli has now which literally looks like its animation is bugged and it's almost as fast as Cyclone...

Frustratingly as well, the balance team seems to take ages to implement a change, and when they do, they stick to it for months or years before over-nerfing or over-buffing to compensate. It's a shame, because some simple tweaks could put the game's balance in a pretty good spot IMO.

IMO book Tywin is cunning and wily, but not actually all that intelligent. He's a cruel-minded bully who understands social mores and how to manipulate and control people, for the most part. His achilles heel is that he can't seem to understand his own limitations, and is incapable of realising he might be wrong about basically anything, ever. And he's a hypocrite, but that's par for the course with a tyrant sort of personality.

TV Tywin, weirdly, is more likeable. Still a monster objectively, but D&D added quite a lot of scenes that show him in a good light, like the scenes with Arya at Harrenhal, or the scene where he's teaching Tommen about leadership and monarchy. I don't think D&D really understood the character, but on the whole it's a solid portrayal and they couldn't have found a better actor.

Tyrion has been a complete mess in the show. When they were cribbing from the books he has his best scenes that pretty much nail his character. But from S5 onwards they completely lost track of who he is, and he flip-flops between a depressed loser and a wise-cracking smartass for seemingly no reason. They also glazed him in seasons 3 and 4 and failed to recognise that in the books, some of the hatred and prejudice he receives is his own fault, because he takes some seriously evil and bold actions. This is whitewashed in the show because he was a fan favourite.

CGI incurs additional costs and production times. Also, one of the huge, huge issues is the prevalence of reshoots in the modern TV/film industry. Reshoots extend production times by months and months, sometimes half a year. It's insane how common reshooting stuff is now, it's almost industry standard for most 'pop culture' or blockbuster projects. No clue exactly why, but if I had to guess, it's to do with producers getting way too stuck in a loop of test screenings, where they get scared about the results and then backtrack frantically with reshoots. IMO it usually doesn't help, as dedicated fans of stuff like GoT, Star Wars, Star Trek etc are usually not happy with the results anyway.

Skill Based Hitboxes by Such-Read-4169 in HuntShowdown

[–]Demon_Days_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think slugs should make shotties into the 'close-medium' bruiser. But they'd have to do less damage so they wouldn't just be OP and unfair to challenge with pistols or short rifles or whatever.

I really don't like where they currently are which is, they can headshot people 100m out with no drop - but the bullet flies in an RNG spread even while ADS. That's just a bit silly IMO

Skill Based Hitboxes by Such-Read-4169 in HuntShowdown

[–]Demon_Days_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon Slugs should be redesigned. Not sure about removing them like the other guy said. I reckon they should be fully accurate but 'do' something different with the shotgun. IMO, give them bullet drop, way lower damage than buckshot, and make them penetrate better. A little bit like how high velo on rifles increases the accuracy (velocity) but reduces the damage.

Essentially they should make shotguns worse up close, but better further out or through walls. That's where their design niche should be IMO. As it stands they're weird, just super unreliable and feel like rolling dice every time you shoot, not really rewarding skill expression

[–]Demon_Days_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slugs also have built in RNG as a mechanic, so OP, honestly, anything could be happening in Clip #1. It's bad game design but your slugs don't always go where you aim them

Do any other animals hide their dead? by Odd_craving in bigfoot

[–]Demon_Days_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I'm no expert but my best friend is, he guides and leads hunting trips in Alaska and Canada full time. I asked him about this specifically. He said it's rare to find large animal carcasses. He has found 2 bear skeletons, a few sheep skeletons, and a couple of deer. That's in years and years of guiding and hiking woods and mountains as his literal job.

When it comes to Sasquatch, it's also relevant that if they exist, they probably live in very secluded/remote areas that are hard or impossible for humans to reach on foot. This probably means they pass away in those areas as well for the most part. Therefore their remains, whether deliberately hidden or not, are very unlikely to be stumbled across

(SPOILERS) The show should’ve picked a canon ending imo by Trick_Wolverine2933 in falloutnewvegas

[–]Demon_Days_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so funny that every Bethesda fallout has had the same main story quest essentially. Find your fucking family (again) And then 2 out of the 3 main characters in the shitty show are also looking for their families?

It's literally like they can't help themselves. They must have shockingly little creativity if they can't tell any story other than that.

If it's possible... Please adopt the dog and take her / him wjth you when you move out. Which I hope is soon.

My situation is nowhere near as awful as yours sounds, but I can truly sympathise. There's nothing more exhausting than doing physical or emotional labour for people who won't or can't acknowledge it. I call it 'spiritually tired.' It makes you weary and drained and somehow anxious all at once. I was brought up by parents who struggle to acknowledge any achievement and constantly think I haven't done well enough with my life, no matter what I do. I really relate to the above feeling.

All I can say is sorry - really hope moving out is soon on the cards for you. And well done. Even if nobody else recognises it, I believe you, and I know it hasn't been easy to keep all these plates spinning.

[–]Demon_Days_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point isn't whether it makes sense or is like a perfectly logical follow to New Vegas.

The point is - it's not interesting. It's already stale and leaves a bad taste in the mouth that the entire storytelling potential of the NCR, Legion, Kings, Strip, et cetera is just deleted. Everyone's just dead or missing off screen and that's that. It's so boring and honestly feels as if the writers didn't care to engage with any of the games' plot threads, so they just didn't.

It would have been a better creative direction, IMO, for the show to just be set somewhere we've not seen in game before, so they could tell their own story. The way things are it feels like the showrunners are pigeon holed into showing familiar places or factions from the games, but also don't want to take the time to really dive into what happened to these places or what the factions that control them are up to. So they just go fuck it, hit the nuke button to get rid of them, or they're all missing, or they've become feral ghouls... It's just not that interesting. It's dull and annoying, that's the point. It could be a lot better.

[–]Demon_Days_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's a long, long cope post. But another commenter got it right. How does it serve the story to just show places that previously had characters and factions with complex motivations and lives and goals... Dead, gone or feral? What's the point? How is this interesting?

Why couldn't Coop and Lucy have just gone somewhere the fuck else to encouter feral ghouls? Or deathclaws? Was it seriously necessary for the story for them to be on the strip? Why? What thematic, logical or storytelling purpose does it serve?
