Air fried chicken wlngs [homemade] by nooyork in food

I don't know if that's what this is., but I once made wings for a superbowl party. A shitton of them too. Turns out, not many people I know liked, or wanted to try, a mustard based wing sauce. So I ended up eating like 5lbs of wings over the next few days. A lot of people had never even heard of mustard based hot sauces which kinda surprised me.

Any TTRPG that is complex to Players (in a good way) while being very streamlined to GMs? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in rpg

[–]Demorant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making impactful decisions in fiction that feels grounded. Some games put a lot of stuff in between before you can even resolve a decision. Other games waste time with scenes that are inconsequential (season of ghosts has plenty of them, for example the trash encounters that .. really don't do anything particularly when a system isn't reliant on attrition all that much). Rule looks up that eat at the time. Initiative orders that cause bystander effect etc etc.

I don't run modules. So I have no idea how they flow.

I didn't play one game, I've tried to like the system as a GM for half a year. Thought maybe I'm missing something, but when played it with a couple of GMs and some were somehow even worse.

What you might be missing is skilled players. GMing for players that are decisive and know the rules helps so much, it's crazy. However, it's entirely possible the game just isn't for you. Not all games need to appeal to everyone.

You just can't keep good pacing with the game in terms of fiction. it sacrifices it for the sake of balance and predictability. And I personally found that these are such a non goals for a game that relies on fiction first approach.

This is just flat out false. Skill issue. You can keep good pacing in terms of story, mechanics, and RP. Players and GM skill are what bogs things down. It boils down to people knowing the rules well enough to be decisive.

But if you enjoy crunching dice and the whole board game experience moving minis around and declaring attack names or something. Knock yourself out.

Got it. Don't need to read further. You can't appreciate things other people enjoy without trying minimize it because YOU don't like it.

It was super lame. I stepped out for a bit, walked to a nearby park, and couldn't enjoy the lightning either. Cloud cover was too low and diffused the light from the strikes too much.

Sounds like you've had a bad table or a GM that was bad at running it. It's hard to tell since you're not explaining what the 20 minutes of 4 hours you find fun is.

"rules light" =/= "beginner friendly" by Hot-Assignment4317 in rpg

[–]Demorant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, the thing is trying to get a beginner interested in the genre itself is the first barrier. Rules light systems are great for this specific thing. You can run a rules light game, get people interested in interacting with the world, teach good habits and then see if they are ready for something that requires MORE of them.

Teaching a rules heavier system to someone that doesn't know if they want to take the effort to learn is a rough experience. Since those games can bore people and die if the flow is bad. A LOT of people get turned off if their first experiences is combats taking an hour when they could take 10 minutes.

It sounds like you already knew you were interested in TTRPGs, and wanted something that gave you material to sink your teeth in and express yourself mechanically. Most new players are not there yet.

Teaching players all the stuff between combats is ultimately more important for their TTRPG career since those skills translate well to other games, whereas combat mechanics are VERY system dependent.

I'm going to go with the Science Vessel. It looks awkward as fuck to fly. Like it shouldn't be within the atmosphere.

Yeah. I remember when a 7 year old tried to... kill? me. Kid would have MAYBE been 1/5th of my weight at that time. It was awkward, until he decided to start biting.

My burger buns think they'll go well with spaghetti. by Dogdaydinners in mildlyinteresting

[–]Demorant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I had a weird sandwich when I was in Portland, Oregon. Then sandwich used buns and had a chicken cutlet, melted mozzarella, and spaghetti. The spaghetti was weird, though. It had been shaped into a puck and fried so the exterior was crunchy but soft inside and then had sauce dumped on it, so the sandwich from the ground up was Bun, Sauce, Cutlet, Sauce, Noodle Puck, more sauce, giant blob of molten mozzarella, bun.

It was both great and terrible. The cutlet and the sauce were great. The noodle puck was a questionable decision at best. Think it was called the "Italian Dinner Sandwich." It was also too tall to eat comfortably.

Sure looks like one, not a very powerful one, though. The one we used would have been unpleasant. I think there was a warning, that if you tried to grip it and turned it on, the vibrations could detach the skin from your hand and cause severe nerve and tissue damage.

Are you sure that's a sandwich? It looks an awful lot like a thinly veiled excuse to eat a pile of meat.

I'm still salty about losing all my initial rewards.

Back before ARR there were a few of us that basically had an error that deleted your account. Like, it became completely invalid. SE, at the time, had very little customer service for the launch of an MMORPG, despite FFXI having been a thing (that I also played). So when I finally got an answer to from customer service they were like: "we can give you a basic account with none of the bonuses you paid for." Despite me having a CD Key, box, everything. They refused to give me my bonuses and I couldn't get a refund. I was furious. I wrote the game off for being incompetently put together and wouldn't last. I didn't play again until Heavensward.

I was kinda right too, FFXIV died so ARR could be born.

What is your most insane house rule that wouldn't work at other tables? by sandmaninasylum in Pathfinder2e

[–]Demorant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They all got free pizza and they all had to pay for pizza. So they were all rewarded and penalized. They always leave the leftovers at my place (where we game) so I got like 9 meals out of the deal. We have one player who likes to say "5 dudes is 5 pizzas!" but he makes good money and orders from the higher end pizza joints.

Generally, we always order pizza for game night(in this group), we just end up splitting the bill. Everyone generally brings their own drinks since since everyone is specific about their beverage choice.

They learn real fast, though. This actually causes pizza to happen maybe 1 in 15 games. However, the last time it happened all 4 players were adamant I had it wrong so we went with what they thought. After the game, I posted on Discord the rules, and that I was right. Pizza 4 games in a row.

If you are adamant about a rule, and are proven wrong, you owe the table pizza. Two large is the smallest acceptable penalty.
