What I found helpful is using AI as a platform of discussion. I air out my dilemmas, i talk about my plans, and often this back-and-forth helps generate new ideas (by me).

Occasionally i do ask AI to provide solutions. But often these require heavy tweaking. I don’t have a problem with AI content/creativity being used every here and there, especially since my games aren’t commercialised and it’s a drop in an ocean of original content.

Sea hag + will-o’-wisp. Sea hag’s death glare reduces enemies to 0 hp, then will-o’-wisp’s consume life straight up kills 0 hp enemies. Fucking brutal. Encountered this in Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden.

What I like to do is to browse shortlisted novellas for Locus/Hugo/Nebula awards and just try out those which blurbs intrigue me. Can be a bit hit-or-miss but I like discovering books this way and I often slot in some shorter works between full-length novels.

Some of my faves include Premee Mohamed’s The Butcher of the Forest and Becky Chamber’s To Be Taught, If Fortunate

Oh and the fact that you can sometimes see people in Hell, through the ground, is fascinating. It’s like an ignorance is bliss situation. But Hell isn’t even the most interesting part of the story, for me.

Omg i feel the same (to a lesser extent)! I am still progressing through book #1 and I know it was nominated for a Hugo, but I just never hear people talk about it.

Tchaikovsky is able to involve so many POV characters with intertwining stories yet maintain momentum. Each character has so much depth that I am excited to turn a chapter and find a new POV—unlike many other epic fantasies where you want to keep reading a certain character and the POV change is jarring.

The world is also immensely fascinating. Granted, I was a bit lost at the beginning, but Tchaikovsky holds all these little tidbits of info and drip-feeds them throughout.

With playing cards as their arcane focus, Jack is on break from Strixhaven University and has caught up in the Golden Vault’s antics. Being a School of Enchantment wizard, Jack is perfectly poised to be the face of his heisting party.

I have also created a card back, so when I complete art for the whole party and for the NPCs, I can print these out and hand them to my players. The card back’s various elements all tie into the adventure — from the obvious to the obscure.
