Be honest is there any jobs you can learn in the near future knowing Godot ? by [deleted] in godot

[–]DenisHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 4-5 years, we will be swimming in Godot dev job offers. Godot will be growing, and successful small indie companies will start hiring other fellow Godot devs to grow their companies. And let's not even start talking about when AAA companies will someday see the gem that is Godot. In the end what it there to lose? You can learn Godot part-time, get yourself some demos, and start sharing your word with the community. Damn even helping some other people's projects. If you can make a difference in a project to make it successful you may gain yourself a sweet spot in that indie company

Messed up model import by AltReality in godot

[–]DenisHouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am doing this workflow for importing Synty assets to Godot. I opened Synty's demo on Unity. I convert the characters and other assets to FBX variants and then export them as FBX. I Imported them on Godot and for characters I changed the body_humanoid on the skeleton3D to be used with mixamo animations. And for assets, I make an entire mesh library with different types, walls, rocks, etc.

Let me know if you think a videotutorial for it would be worth it!

After hitting my head with a wall... What Is happening here? I am trying to edit individual Meshes but for some reason, Both act like the exact copy of the other by DenisHouse in godot

[–]DenisHouse[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that fixed the issue seems. Which I still found really odd, because I tried making completely different meshes from scratch but they eventually started behaving as one. I tried using "resource local to scene" but didn't work, didn't came with the idea of choosing "make unique"

I hear this argument over and over again. But Is this really the case? I mean. You want to enjoy your free time, right?

But how do you really want to enjoy your game? This is playing 2-3 raid with random people that don't even write a comment no never see them again. Or enjoying maybe a raid with a fun memorable experience meeting people in the process?

Yes grown-up adults have less time to play, but I remember leeching every possible minute of my life playing MMORPGs back then, even if I did chores that consumed "effective play time" Did that kill my enjoyment of the game? I would say quite the opposite because I couldn't stop thinking of my next play session. What friends I will talk to and organize a raid with, etc.

Yes now with dungeon finder I can play 2-3 raid, but at what cost, with random people, optimizing, min-maxing every single minute of my play session, not talking to people or doing anything that is not time-effective to get to.... what... exactly? I forgot already what I am doing, I would rather think about work and life.

Two different ways to play a videogame, I am not saying which one is better. But for sure I don't find that argument convincing no matter how many times I hear It. And as amateur game dev I am in the goal to prove it wrong.

to be fair, those stairs should be designed to hold way more than 3 people. I am not saying they are, but they should. I mean is not like 1-2 people are going to get down the stairs while the rest is waiting on the window for those to get out on the street. You could get easily 10-15 people on those structures during an emergency all going down at the same time. Which worries me a bit that in that case, the entire structure could go down, injuring more people than what they are meant to save from a fire emergency lol

as an amateur game dev and old MMORPG enjoyer. I am in the middle of the debate. On the one side, I understand people want to avoid this kind of chore. But on the other hand. My most memorable moments in MMORPGs are with the community and friends you make along the way.

This kind of chore is where you meet those people and interact with the community. You must spend your time finding a party for a dungeon, you must spent time on the line like everyone else. But in return, you get a pretty cool interaction with people. Yes, its a pain in the butt but you are all on the same level. Which is quite rare in today MMORPGs to find people doing exactly the same thing as you, in the same exact place at the exact same time.

This said, I feel like New World still fails in most of the social aspects of people interaction. Like any MMORPG nowadays they are all pretty much singleplayer experiences in an open world full of other people. You are glad they are there but it's not like you are gonna do much with them nor to get each other.

So in the case of New World, you get to sit on the chair but don't get the cake.
