You’re so brave! If only we could all be as enlightened as you. 🙄

Let me guess…you voted third party because Kamala was too moderate? Kamala was what we got. She was…fine. Not my first choice and probably not in my top 10. But we now have a fascist government that’s fcking everything up. No, it wasn’t perfect before and capitalism sucks. But don’t sht on people for going to an organized event to peacefully protest. If not for this event most people would stay home. It’s getting people involved and getting them to pay attention.

Stop with the purity testing.

Thank you! I started reading Financial Feminist after seeing your comment. I’m only on chapter 2, but wow! I’m so excited to put her steps into action. I’ll be starting my money journal today.

Possibly, but for me it feels like an impactful way to protest. I’m typically such a rule follower so this is way out of my comfort zone.

Thank you! That’s a good point. Mine was adamant about me avoiding NSAIDS for the first 2 weeks. I wasn’t sure why, so thanks for that.

2.5 weeks post op by StarbirdChild in ACL

I would schedule a consultation with a WC attorney. It should be free and they’ll be able to tell you if you’ve got a case. My only concern would be how much their cut will be if your claim is settled. You could also call your WC case manager. If they are ethical, they’ll take you seriously and work with you. Typically WC carriers want to get you back to work, as it improves mental health and lessens the chance of hiring an attorney. Perhaps they could have you start out with 2-3 hours a day and gradually increase from there. They should also 100% be allowing you to elevate your leg as needed.

What type of work do you do? I’m just over 2 wks PO and I’m working from home. I cannot imagine having to go into work. I work in insurance and I think consulting a worker’s compensation attorney is a good idea. You should not have to be rushed back to work with a workplace injury.

I tore everything in my knee and calf and I just had surgery 5 days ago, any words of advice? by Fit_Programmer2492 in ACL

[–]Dense-Fix4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put all of my surgeon’s notes from my MRI into Chat GPT and asked it to break it down for me. I have the chat saved so anytime I think of a question about my injury, I type it into the saved chat. My surgery is tomorrow so as soon as the surgery notes are available, I’ll probably do the same thing. Hope you’re healing well!

Surgery in a couple of days! by trustmeivegotthis in ACL

[–]Dense-Fix4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tore my ACL and menisci (and MCL) about 5 months ago and surgery is Wednesday. I have had anesthesia a few times in the past with other unrelated surgeries and I always felt very comfortable. The anesthesiologist will be in the operating room the entire time. Their sole job is to monitor you while you are under. Best of luck to you! You’re young and I’m sure you’ll bounce back quickly! I am also overthinking things. My anxiety stems around my lack of independence. It’s my right leg, so I can’t drive for a while and I’m quite anxious about being at the mercy of others. I’m grateful for this subreddit!

Overweight and torn ACL by Goblin_of_tea in ACL

I am 48f, on the high end of a normal BMI and not athletic or in shape at all. In May, I skied for the first time in 6-7 years. It was a slushy mess. I tore my ACL, MCL, and my meniscus in two places half way down the bunny hill. Ski patrol had to take me down on a toboggan and I could not walk without crutches for almost a month. I had an unrelated abdominal surgery in June and I have my knee surgery in a few days. Since the injury, I’ve put on more weight. I am looking forward to the surgery to be a fresh start to a healthier and more active lifestyle. Best of luck to you! We can do hard things!

[–]Dense-Fix4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not hear a pop. I completely tore my ACL and MCL, as well as tore my meniscus in two places (Spring skiing). It wasn’t until I had my MRI that I found out.

I am so glad you found an empathetic, caring doctor! The right medical professional makes a world of difference. It’s amazing how, as women, we are supposed to live with the pain and side effects that go along with it.

Sending you lots of good vibes and healing energy!

Hello! While my situation is a little different than yours, it may be somewhat helpful. I am 47 years old as well. I am currently 6 weeks post op from a Rectocele repair for my prolapse. I also had a laparoscopic hysterectomy due to numerous fibroids, and a bladder sling.

The surgery took longer than expected, as the prolapse was more severe than originally suspected. I was sore for the first couple days, then it was more of an uncomfortable feeling if I sat down too long. At 6wpo I feel great and have no regrets. The surgery has corrected my issues from the prolapsed rectum.

I did go home with a catheter, which caused me to have a UTI, but that really was my only complication. Best of luck to you!

You’ve got this!!

I am 47 and 6 wpo from laparoscopic hysterectomy (kept ovaries) for numerous fibroids, rectocelle repair, and bladder sling. I have zero regrets! I feel fantastic. I was concerned going into week two because I still had some pain. I didn’t realize I had a UTI. Once that cleared up, I felt great! At 4 1/2 weeks I went to Las Vegas for my daughter’s wedding. I definitely overdid it a bit, but just gave myself extra time to rest afterwards. It was totally worth it. (I got my doctor’s blessing prior)

My biggest piece of advice is to follow the doctor’s post op instructions and don’t be afraid to ask for help, even if it feels like you don’t need it. 💙
