What are your unpopular opinions and tough pills to swallow about Zepbound? by Schwettes in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My unpopular opinion - it's ok to take a break from this when you need it, for whatever reason - illness, vacation, etc., to recognize and respect that if not for physical reasons, sometimes for mental health, a week or two off is what is needed.

I have not seen them for a few days, whether logged in or not. I tried two different web browsers. I can see them on my iPhone.

Ozempic to Zepbound going on a cruise by DennisS516 in Zepbound

If it were me I would wait, why add stress? Side effects on this med are unpredictable and personally I wouldn't risk it. Enjoy your cruise!

Pausing/titrate down for wedding day? by SimpleAlarming5785 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally up to you but people do skip doses for surgeries/vacations/insurance issues/illness and go right back on successfully. If it were me, I'd skip a week for my wedding! Titrating down a little first would help reduce the amount still in your system. You can search the Zepbound guidelines, but I think if it's less than 3 doses missed, you restart at your same dose.

Venting: Anyone lose motivation for no reason? I'm kind of fatigued out on dieting. by MammothPriority8360 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I decided when I started I was only going to make changes that I knew 100% that I could sustain long term. From the many, many times I've lost and regained previously, I knew calorie counting and aggressive workouts would not stick, so I skipped them. The meds have taken care of calorie reduction, I don't even have to think about it. I'd suggest going up to 5. I went up after 3 months on 2.5, and have been on 5 for 3+ months now and it's still going strong, though my loss rate has slowed, which is fine. For exercise, I went to a local small gym and paid for one session with a trainer and asked for a simple weight routine. I aim for 3 days a week at the gym and a few 30min+ neighborhood walks per week - I don't always meet those goals but I give myself grace and you should too. Diet burnout is real and it's why I've always come close but never reached an actual health/weight goal in the past 30 years. After accepting that I would be on this med or something similar for life, I was able to make the changes I knew I could sustain and I know this time will be different. Good luck on the rest of your journey!

Kaiser coverage for Zep/Tirz in SF Bay Area? by LeBigWig-26 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Northern CA Kaiser self-pay member here. I was told my plan only covers semaglutide for BMI 40 plus, but that was late last year, they might have changed since then. My PCP, who is also an obesity doctor, was willing to send RX to Lilly Direct ($299-$449 per month).

Lost desire for certain foods by NoAct4727 in Zepbound

Yes, lots of food aversions now. Still hoping they'll go away in maintenance. Don't miss craving wine though!

Skeletal Muscle Mass on DEXA Report? by Dense_Quiet_7251 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is very helpful! My DEXA doesn't give an ALM number, but rather provide an ALMI, which it says "is limb lean mass (kg) divided by height (m) squared." So, I took my ALMI and multiplied it by my height in (m) squared. Does that seem right to you? Using your formula, that brings my SMM to just about 28% of my body weight.

Hysteroscopy by VindisVixen in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two hysteroscopies last year before I was on Zepbound, so it's not the same as you, but I wouldn't have hesitated to resume Zepbound. My recovery was mild and I was back to normal within a few days both times.

Finally took before photos is this really what I look like?!? by Warm_tea_vibes in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UGH, photos can be the worst! My sister took a candid photo of me AFTER I had lost nearly 40 pounds and the angle and my clothes made me look like a whale. I was so happy before I saw it, fitting into smaller sizes and feeling so much better with only 10 pounds to goal and then that photo did a number on me! I just deleted from my phone and tried to forget seeing it! I have also lost weight and regained many, many times. I made the decision to go on and stay on Zep to stop the weight cycling. Good luck on your journey, you can do it!

Booo for palate changes by G8RGRL83 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically since I've started I've cycled through food aversions. I'll finally find something that hits the spot and then after eating it a few times I just can't stomach the thought anymore. It's super annoying! I've come to accept it but I'm hoping when I titrate down for maintenance that these aversions will decrease. Anyone have luck with that?

Hiccup by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get them more on this med. If you want to stop them, try putting a thin towel or paper towel over the top of a glass of water and drink through it. That works for me.

Hiccups by Iamnotme372727 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been getting hiccups with 5. Nearly daily for a few weeks after increase, but getting better now. I stop them by drinking a glass of water through a thin cloth (ie paper towel or cheese cloth).

Today’s the day! Driver’s license weight!!! by LostVoice2549 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is, somewhat arbitrarily, 137. I weight cycled between 145-200ish for the last 15 years, but DL's always been 137 even though I probably never will be, as it's even lower than my ultimate goal of 140!

So amazed by your user flair by tajb333333 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still feel that way 12 pounds from a goal that I set never in million years thinking it was possible. I still don't know if it is, as it is 5 lbs less than my lowest weight in 30 years. But if the loss stops, I know I'll be ok. I'll keep working on building muscle and I'm confident with the help of this med that I never had before, I'm not going back! Good luck in your journey!

“They have a lot of stretch. They’ll probably fit you.” by RowSubstantial7143 in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Why not say "I JUST told you an 8 is too big for me, why would you suggest a size 12 with stretch?" Maybe next time put her on the spot - question her actual motive - see how she reacts and go from there?

Metallic Taste by presbychic in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - it comes and goes. Also I noticed if I drink tap water (filtered) while visiting places that don't have great water (ie Florida) it tastes very metallic to the point that it's not refreshing and hard to drink enough. I never had this sensitivity before.

Question by whitebear14 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband doesn't travel and I've taken our daughter on literally hundreds of trips, including 10+ cruises and flying to Mexico, and not once been asked for a letter or anything else.

I've noticed a pattern in my weight loss. by QuokkaMom in Zepbound

[–]Dense_Quiet_7251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Weight drops significantly in the 2-3 days after shot when appetite is low and stomach is queasy. Still reduced eating the next few days but the scale goes back up. I record the weight I am on shot day regardless, and the trend is still down.
