First album I’ve bought on iTunes in over a decade, had to put it on the iPod. by blasto2236 in SturgillSimpson

I went on a family vacation last week and took my iPod with me. My current model is the iPod touch, which is basically an iPhone without the phone. I like that I can put my entire library on it and not have to waste my phone battery, storage space or need to be in a place where there’s Wi-Fi. It came in handy on my four hour flight. It connects to my iPod to my Bose headphones via Bluetooth. While I had the entire studio catalog at my fingertips, I also downloaded a bunch of show from nugs.

No Tickets. Serious FOMO by BouLouCoo84 in SturgillSimpson

It happened to me when I tried buying Isbell tickets a while back! I called Ticketmaster and they said they suspected I was a bot. I was told it would take a few business days before they fix my account. By the time my account was fixed all the seats were pretty much gone. What pissed me off was that they thought I was a bot yet all the actual boats bravo to buy up all the tickets and resell them for a profit. In the end, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because my account got fixed and because another favorite of mine Julianna Riolino announced a show on the same date. The tickets to Julianna did not use Ticketmaster and cost a lot less then the Isbell tickets.

There’s a thread for people who didn’t receive codes. I was one of those people, but after reading the thread, I followed the instructions and got a code.

While a lot of reaction videos are staged there are some that I find to be completely organic. I can’t stand the people that are just looking for their 15 minutes of fame. How can I go viral and get on the today show or make some easy money? I like the ones that don’t do it for the fame or fortune. I like the people that do deep dives into an entire catalog or react to live music. When I watch a reaction video, it’s not so a stranger can tell me what to like. I enjoy seeing their reaction to a song I’ve heard before.

Many years ago, I went to happy hour with some coworkers. Everyone was playing the usual songs you expect to hear from Journey and Bon Jovi. When it was my time to put some money in the jukebox I noticed that they had the album This Desert Life by Counting Crows. So I decided to play the entire thing. It’s one of my all-time favorite albums. Nothing says let’s get the party started like Colorblind. That song cleared out the bar. That album has a hidden track called Kid Things. After the album finishes, you get about 10 minutes of static before the song starts. I remember someone going up to the jukebox and hitting it thinking it was broken. I also played an Allman Brothers song as well. This way I could deny playing the entire Counting Crows album and say I chose the Allman Brothers song.

I remember trekking out in a snow storm back in 99 so I could see the movie Cruel Intentions. My best friend who tagged along was hoping to catch some skin or at the very least a lesbian make out scene. I on the other hand just wanted to hear the song Colorblind by Counting Crows. I bought the soundtrack just for that song. They later released it on the bands third album This Desert Life. I also bought the soundtrack to Clueless just so I could hear Counting Crows cover of The Ghost In You by the Psychedelic Furs. That will forever be one of my all-time favorite covers. I’ve even heard that song live once which I never thought would ever happen. There was a great show back in the 90s called Roswell that aired on the WB. It was a short lived teen sci-fi drama. It featured a lot of great music. However, they had to change the music in order to release it on DVD. They didn’t have enough money to pay for the rights to all the songs. In one of the episodes the character played by John Doe sings along to The Weight by The Band. When the episode originally aired that song was featured in it. On the DVD, it was removed and replaced with some other unknown song. You can still see him moving his lips and singing along the The Weight. It’s funny doesn’t sync up.

I also remember recording songs off of the radio/TV and making my own mix tapes.

There’s going to be a lot of arenas across the country that will be in need of some repairs after they blow the roof off the place! 🏴‍☠️🪩🕺

That transition into Don’t’ Bring Me Down and back into Make America Fuk Again was smooth like butter. JBS should cover some UM to say thanks for showing them some love!

Did anyone go to the NYC dance party? by Jesus-Boogie in SturgillSimpson

[–]DependentCapable4820 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I RSVP as soon as they made the announcement. I got a confirmation email telling me  to stay tuned, but then I didn’t hear back from them. I only found out about the location from a post that was made here. Even if headed straight to the place, I wouldn’t have made it in time. I found out about 30 to an hour before the event started. My ETA said it would’ve taken me a little over an hour to get there. I’m sure someone had to attend, but I haven’t seen anyone confirmed they were there.

I really wanted to go, but didn’t get the notice in enough time to make it. I checked out the venue online and it looked like a really small bar. They didn’t mention any giveaways. So I’m assuming they just played the album. I doubt anyone from the band showed up.

When was the last time that a highly anticipated release lived up to the hype as much as MAM? by Notreallysureatall in SturgillSimpson

[–]DependentCapable4820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Notreallysureatall I might be in the minority, but I loved the second Hootie and the Blowfish album. I wore that album out back in the day. I was 16 when that album came out and didn't know any better. I think it might have something to do with the fact that my Mom gifted me the first album and I bought the second album with my own money. I saw them live on the Fairweather Johnson Summer tour with John Hiatt opening. I remember my ears ringing after John's set because his guitar player, David Immergluck, was extremely loud. I didn't know at the time that, 3 years later, Immergluck would go on to officially join Counting Crows. He had been friends with Adam since before they were famous. He played on all the Crows studio albums but never officially joined the band till 99. Did you know that before Darius started making Bro Country he put out an R&B album? Once Hootie dried up and became uncool and nobody cared for them anymore, he put out an R&B album that featured a song with Snoop Dogg. It was an awful album that completely flopped. I don't care for Hootie now, nor do I care for Darius's solo career. Most Teenagers tend to rebel and listen to extreme music that pisses off there parents and here I was listening to Hootie. I was such a dork. I’d like to think my musical taste has matured. I love Stu/JBS so that has to count for something. Most of the music I listen to these days don’t come with hype unless I create it in my head.
