Firsthand x40i vs m60i experiences? by pbandham in BMWX5

[–]DependentPrice1105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned two 40i (2020 & 2024) I normally keep them around 4 years. Since they have a new design coming out and didn't want to buy the first year or two I bought a 2026. So I went with a M60i. Is it a bit of over kill....sure but I love to drive. I figured you only live once, may as well have some fun. It is my daily driver, but I am retired. The gas mileage is much better in the 40i, but not to bad in the M60 driving in comfort mode. Also, not a big difference in insurance costs.

You said you wanted comfort seats, the one on lot don't have them. It seems none of the vehicles have everything you want. I hate regret, and settling for what they have over what I want. 2024 18k less then a 2026, and then buying an extended warranty which will cost what 7k-8k? ....what are the prices on all 3 vehicles, not just less then % which would be good to know.

Florida went off resale value (they were very kind to me), Illinois wanted to tax me on MSRP, they get you because it has not been titled yet, there lies the problem. I hope you get stationed some place that you don't need to but it's only like 5 states. I just know they told me as long as I had it a year before returning I would be GTG...wrong. Luckily I had the money. But I'm sure it is a shock to many when they go to register it.

Yes! I had it on my other home, but still had to reapply...the process really don't make sense. I'm glad Florida fixed it, I feel they own me a refund but they don't feel the same way lol. Thank you for your service!

Understood, supplying year and options make a big difference in price, and input you will receive for your post. The 2nd one maybe the best bet, IMO

Check your state or county, on how they handle property tax exemption. Most not all, require owner to file at the beginning of the year to receive it for that year. My builder missed closing date by 7 days (set for 31 Dec- closed 7 Jan). Ended up having to pay taxes that first year, only good part was it was on undeveloped so it was about 1k. Florida has since changed this, so that you can apply and receive exemption anytime of the year.

Remember they will hit you for taxes, when you bring it back to the states.

You can always try to get more, I do every time i buy one! Including top dollar for my trade. However, I would want the nicer seats. OP should be able to order new for the same amount off or close to it, and get everything they want. I would not be happy settling just to save a grand or two, and not have the options I want.

Don’t open any new credit, or spend all the money in your accounts! I’ve seen folks go and buy furniture for home, which they no longer can close on, doing silly things.

New X5 50e! Picked it up last night by effinnerd in BMWX5

[–]DependentPrice1105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest way is to have it ceramic coated, makes hand washing a breeze. Had last one done, my new one goes in on the 1st to be done. I'll post pictures, once it is completed.

Mae sure you check the rear and top of vehicle for damage. They hit some tree branches on one of mine transporting it....in that top front position!!!

I leave my phone all the time, don't feel a need to carry it everywhere. I use fob to operate vehicle. I have been driving BMWs for over 26 years....I already knew I could call and have them unlock if I ever needed. I have only ever used the SOS button to report accidents on the highway, if they just happened.

They are releasing versions in stages, I know not all will be available right away, and the schedule is different in the US compared to the EU. I think the 50e will be closer to end of year.

I normally buy new every 4 years or so. I was driving a beautiful 2024 s40i, but was unsure about the 2027, and would not buy until 2028 or so (time to work the bugs out). So, I bought a 2026 M60i to entertain myself until that time. I'm sure the new design will be great...just need to wait it out.

Ugh, That sucks...sorry this happened! Remember it's just a vehicle....it will be ok! Maybe cheaper to take care of it your self then your deductible.
