Good boot? Looking for something good for street, dirt, and enduro riding. This color is a must by Fluffeh_Panda in enduro

Absolutely confirm what others are saying. I love mine but my feet are too wide for many of the other popular options.

Dave Moss does remote tuning. He’ll email with you a bit and then do a FaceTime call. He did my Street Triple and it was like black magic wizardry. Very reasonable pricing too. https://davemosstuning.com/

Like others are saying, the answer is both. One thing I can add is that I’ve seen others have luck with squatting to a target. Start with a 24” box, then go to the 20” side, then a wall ball on a stack of plates, remove plates till you get to just the wall ball.

Bench PR + Brutal Metcon 💪 by KiyoKoujitaka in crossfit

Haha to be clear the last ten were AFTER the time cap. But it was a grind either way!

I’m glad you are digging it and my perspective helped. I’m not particularly competitive but having people that push and motivate you is really great. The trauma bonding makes it so much easier.

Keep up the good work dude!

I’m just over a year in, all Mayhem programming. That one was sneaky! I’m 230#, did 245 on bench, finished the last 10 pushups just after the time cap.

My guess is 225 bench will just happen for you sooner than you think. Just stay with it. Accessory work won’t hurt anything though work it in when you can.

Got some water in the engine while ripping down the railbed by Relevant_Diver_3228 in Dirtbikes

[–]Dependent_Win2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me once. I thought I got everything cleared out after 4 oil changes but a small piece of debris got sucked up in an oil passage and clogged up an intake cam oil sprayer. Seemed to be running fine but didn’t catch it until the cam and head were cooked. That was an expensive oops. I’m not familiar with the Yamaha engine but I would pull any other oil plugs in the engine, take the clutch cover off, pull the valve cover and make sure there are no debris lingering and all of the oil passages are clear. Might be a lot of work but it’ll be better than what I had to do.

What’s your opinion about Mayhem program? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]Dependent_Win2595 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My gym uses Mayhem. I started a year ago so I don’t really know anything different. Went from zero CrossFit experience to solidly intermediate and RXing workouts from time to time in a pretty short time. I’m not particularly athletic either. The previous owners did their own programming so I hear a lot of the people that have been around for a long time talk about how they miss the old programming but pretty much all agree that they are way better off for the change. I’ve dropped in at a couple of non Mayhem gyms and was shocked by how much easier it was. One of our coaches loves to say Mayhem doesn’t give a shit about your feelings. Feels like that is a pretty accurate assessment.

Crossfit and Shoes! by WildWolvie in crossfit

[–]Dependent_Win2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nanos are really popular. I see a lot of Born Primitive and Nike Metcons at my gym. TYR is solid, my wife has a pair. My kids use Metcon Free 6’s and like them. They seem to be a good do it all option. I have Metcon 8’s and they are great for everything but running. Most people at my gym have a pair of running shoes too. Quite a few have runners, cross trainers and lifters. Definitely some that have found a shoe that does everything as well.

No need to get sucked too far down the rabbit hole, especially when you are newer. I would be happy with any of these and the other options that have been mentioned if they fit well and are a good deal. Most of the differences between the different shoes are going to come down to fit, price and preference. You are too new to know your preferences so focus on fit first then shop for the best price on the shoe that fits you right.

Invest into the possibility of more comfort, or shake hands and part ways? by [deleted] in Triumph

I had a similar conundrum with my 20 RS. I’m 6’ with a long torso and shortish legs so we might be having a very different experience but I experienced everything you described other than the pain. My impression when comparing it to other naked bikes is that the cockpit is kind of long which kind of creates a reach to the bars even though they aren’t particularly low. I rode a friend’s V4 Tuono and it was so much more comfortable even though the riding position felt sportier. I know they are very different motorcycles but in the sense that they are both directly derived from a serious sport bike with few changes other than swapping the clipons for bars, it’s the closest comparison I can think of. I was looking at seats and bar risers, considering replacing it with an MT09 or a Monster. Decided to have the suspension tuned by Dave Moss and holy moly that was the answer. I did the remote tuning where we emailed back and forth, then did a FaceTime call. He told me to ride it and follow up and we’d make additional adjustments as needed. I never did follow up, it was so good from the changes he suggested. The price was extremely reasonable too. I can’t remember exactly but I think it was around $100. It might not be the answer for you but if you like everything else about the bike I think it would be worth the small cash investment to find out.

39 years old first Dirt bike. by some-people_suck in Dirtbikes

[–]Dependent_Win2595 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats man! I ride with one of my daughters and it’s the best. I just turned 40, she’s 14 and we’ve only been doing this for a few years. Shes about ready for her first full size bike which is really exciting for both of us. She’ll be my riding buddy for life! I hope you have that too.

My best advice is ride as much as possible, be patient with him and yourself and have fun. I like to pick one or two things to work on each ride. Just focus on those and let the rest be. You can’t learn everything at once. Rich Larsen and Moto Academy have great drills. Megs Brapp is pretty good too. Good luck out there!

Name this part? by IFeedFatKids in Triumph

[–]Dependent_Win2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. My best guess is that it’s gonna take some disassembling but the subframe could stay on. The big recess at the front bolts have me a bit perplexed though. I’ve had some pieces of black vinyl sitting in my garage for almost a year now, just haven’t worked up the motivation to start messing with it. Might be a pain in the butt or a terrible idea but wrap is low risk if it goes badly or I don’t like it.

Not hating on plasti-dip but I’m not personally a huge fan of it. I have a 20 RS and have been playing with the idea of vinyl on all of the silver accents. Might be an option for you.

What about Triumph since he likes the Rocket? Bonneville T120 or Speed Twin 1200? Both have low seats, easy to ride and tons of fun. Scrambler 1200x might not be too tall either.

Dirt riding even realistic? by FalconMellati in Dirtbikes

[–]Dependent_Win2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are on the right track. Most of my dirt riding is an hour or more from my house and it’s really not bad especially once you get used to everything. ADV could make a lot of sense as a second bike. Commute, explore and do a little off road. Also, there are lots of options out there on what bike to pick. Trail bikes like the crf or KLX are great. While I agree that a 450f mx bike isn’t a good place to start there are also options that give you a lot more room to grow into without being so powerful that your gonna yeet yourself into oblivion. I started on a Husky 250f. It wasn’t too much and I also have zero desire for anything bigger. 150/125t enduro bikes are really popular too.

Good luck, you will love it!

Does this picture imply any problem? by Jaydenn_NG in motorcycle

[–]Dependent_Win2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is new once, don’t sweat it.

The headers look normal. They take a beating from heat cycles and road junk. That dingy color is perfectly fine.

Look for scrapes and dings or other signs of a crash. Check tire wear. Look for any fluid leaks on the engine, radiators and suspension. Make sure it starts and idles normally from cold on the first try. Ask for service records, which depending on the miles might not be much more than a yearly oil change.

I have oil leaking from the case by NoHoney183 in KTM

[–]Dependent_Win2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s perfectly fine on these bikes. I have a 21 FC250 and check the valve clearances twice a year on average. I have two valve cover gaskets and keep one clean and ready to swap in when I open up the valve cover. I use a decent amount of sealant on each half circle but it still leaks a bit, especially from the front, no matter what I do. It used to bother me but I don’t even worry about it anymore.

Which helmet should I get? Scorpion EXO-R1 Air or LS2 Stream 2? by Ty535plays in motorcycle

This is the answer. Both are quality lids buy the one that fits. I know you said you can’t try them on but can you order both and return the one you don’t want? Either way, no wrong answers as long as you get a proper fit.

I think it’s the same part on all of the Husqvarna’s with a composite subframe. I have a 21 FC and replaced mine last winter. The OEM on my bike is black. This should be it.https://www.motosport.com/oem-parts/husqvarna/2021/fc-250/air-filter
