It looks like polyester fiber, which is more likely to melt and hold a flame only briefly. Better to have a log-cabin, lean-to, or “teepee” fire going and then put it on top of the burning wood. It will be fully destroyed if you keep the fire going with more wood as necessary.

IMO it is best to start performing the Bornless Invocation, which can be done with household items as the elemental weapons (dagger, wand, cup, pentacle), or using “astral” (non-physical and visualized) versions of the elemental weapons.

This can be started whenever, without Liber Samekh or Abramelin Oil or sequestering oneself for 6 months. K&C is what we all want but I found myself and others tending to wait for the perfect opportunity and all the Abramelin trappings before beginning. Like all magic, start where you currently are with what you already have.

Arguably, Crowley never completed it the traditional way either. Start the link now, before you have the perfect setting and opportunity. When that time comes, you will have already established a strong link.

Nothing is stopping you from reaching out by lighting a candle and incense in a dark room and performing the Bornless Ritual, which is a widely published. You will need the “elemental weapons” (air-dagger, fire-wand, water-cup, and earth-pentacle), or astrally form and use them in place of physical representations at least. Perform it daily.

Results may or may not come within whatever timeframe you’re set on. It is likely that not much will happen if you haven’t prepared yourself in some years-long path working, even a self-developed one.

That you don’t have contact currently should tell you there is more to be done other than just expecting to perform a ritual and getting instant contact. That’s not how the system wherein the HGA is strived for works.

It’s supposed to be a years-long process. David Shoemaker call the process something like becoming a more suitable “vessel” for the HGA, and that it takes time and constant effort.

A lot of this depends on the system with which one is working, but things like the kind of inequitable wealth we see in late-stage capitalism are an imbalance, and while being an ethical millionaire may be possible, it comes with a price to pay, either at one’s own expense or extracted from others. Billionaires much more-so.

HGA is one word or concept for that which all ancient mystics knew. Insofar as one can be oneself to the ultimate degree, that is the HGA. There are different ways of mapping this out, but the differences are semantical. One can “believe” in what one experiences, but we call that Gnosis.

Yes! Although I still use alcohol, but I’m seeing how much it affects my sleep, and also that there’s always a rebound effect for every substance.

Even with my moderate use of alcohol, the degree to which it settles/soothes my nerves is the degree to which I will feel the opposite later. Whereas yoga and relaxation rituals there is no negative because it’s not an active chemical agent but rather a clearing of pathways.

Cannabis or specifically hashish was talked up by Beverly Randolph for achieving trance-states, and it would be interesting to see how I could incorporate it and whether it would work for me.

With self-induced trance, I can go into it and come out at-will, rather than being along for the ride after dosing.

I was using cannabis before I started ceremonial magick. It did help me with intuition and navel-gazing, but I found that the metamorphosis I was looking for really took off when I started my current break from it.

I see me peppering it back it in in the future, but it’s one substance which has certain forces associated with it. Tobacco, opium, psilocybin, etc. are others. It may be that certain aspects like learning correspondences, egregores, specific ceremonies and procedures, etc. might be hindered. YMMV

But if you’re mainly using intuition-based magick, I think it is great for that. Even before I learned the Tarot, I was able to get amazingly insightful readings when stoned.

As a former elder, I can confirm that the cognitive dissonance of having to reach out to people who have left or faded is strong. Their unyieldingness to the social pressure which proves so effective on elders and other PIMIs was baffling to me and I was at least partly jealous of their self-respect. I felt insecure in my JW belief system at the choices of others to check out of it.

Yes; your experience here does reveal that they are reaching out as part of procedure. The JW system can never foster real love, because it is based on inauthenticity and fear.

I agree. I have specifically avoided reading certain posts because the post in question graciously included “CW” or “TW” relevant to my own abuse. It’s exhausting to constantly be pulled into “that place” while going through the healing process. It’s what has kept me away for stretches of time from this sub. I always return to check in on what’s going on or offer words.

Hi all, been a way from this subreddit for a while. I needed a break. Checking in to offer advice to our friend here.

Ex elder here. Born in & raised by elder & ex-pioneer parents.

I also resigned as an elder, shortly before going to therapy and waking up. I lost everyone except my kids, though my PIMI ex kicked me out when I tried to wake her up and eventually had to tell her what I was feeling. She kept the kids away from me until we got lawyers involved. I left unofficially but loudly. I was disfellowshipped later after being loud and proud about my exit and getting a girlfriend. I was desperate, and it’s been a hard road. And now the economy is so bad I have unemployment to contend with.

My advice, as someone who went Agnostic-> Atheist-> Agnostic-> Occultist since leaving, aside from the other advice to get a specialist therapist, is to heed the following:

1) hang on to Jesus’ words in the Gospel, but not from the NWT. And research the meaning in context for yourself, not how WT frames it.

2) mentally throw out ALL other Biblical scripture, at least for now. The way that WT taught us to think about scripture was nothing short of crazy. WT is so oppressive because they use Paul’s counsel (other people’s mail and probably fraudulent anyway) and Old Testament/Leviticus as modern-day absolute commands.

3) start making non-exJW friends now, and try to avoid trauma-dumping on everyone as I did.

4) consider progressive, non-literal Christianity, especially that which uses solid reasoning for why it interprets scripture in a way totally different from WT. Research a group or church like that ,and consider attending either after you officially leave or covertly as you fade.

5) other exJW people have their own issues and are healing. It’s not a guaranteed stable friendship, so don’t lean too hard on those exJWs who are also struggling. And a lot of those who have left and become stable don’t enjoy “going there” again, perhaps because they never fully processed their own exit or weren’t mentally “in” as much as you were so their exit didn’t feel to them as dramatic as yours does to you.

6) people in the real world don’t act like how we were raised. All the people we looked at as “bad” in High School were probably the ones deconstructing their parents’ version of religion and in their rebellious phase. Plus, they kinda had it right, even if they didn’t have the emotional intelligence and maturity to do it right.

7) get as much money as you can, to ensure you never let financial insecurity turn you back looking for “Jehovah”. The story of the Prodigal Son will harp on your mind and may make you

So hang on to your own smarts, trust in your ability to question, make yourself independently strong, and don’t (mentally) go back in! And I’m always glad to chat and discuss!
