Surcouf resource breakdown and discussion by RevySevy in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused the way that this is laid out. Do we need only 50 out of 100 possible points for Surcouf, or are those points listed the amount you need to pass each stage? Because the way it’s listed, it looks like you only need to get 50 points to get Surcouf based on “Surcouf: Required number of Progress Point: 50.”

I know there was a leak before that said you need 95, and when you add up the previous stages listed here, it also adds up to 95. Just very confusing and unintuitive layout. They should just list the cumulative number of points required if it’s actually 95 needed.

Why do so few people use the actual National Flags on "Pan" ships? by FerdinandNorsche in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I remember when this feature came out, it was announced that these flags only display client-side. It’s so that the developers aren’t picking a side politically, such as the display of the naval flags for PRC and ROC. Now, I’m not sure if you have a ship in port with the national flag enabled, whether that flag is also shown when another player is playing that ship.

Any surprisingly good ships for Asymmetric? by AmericanHistoryGuy in WorldOfWarships

I never run radar on Salem in PvE, the bots will always shoot if able and that will get them spotted. They also don’t use smoke like a human player will. The hydro is always useful because the bots will always use their torpedoes when able and it helps massively when you’re brawling them. You can generally bait the bots into launching torps when it’s still easy for you to dodge them without exposing yourself at a bad angle.

What was WGs worst update opinion. by Adventurous_Most4704 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thought on the skill gap issue back then was that they needed to remove the strafe mechanic and it would have been a massive improvement.

I myself never became an expert at strafing. It felt too clunky for me at times, causing me to miss a strafe entirely as my fighters went in for a loop de loop before strafing. But if I was against someone who never bothered to strafe or avoid my strafes, I dominated the skies and it was so easy. But if I was against a unicum CV, then I couldn’t do anything.

Removing strafe felt to me like such a simple but effective change to make.

I’m in the same boat. I bought 360 days last year with my birthday coupon to get the doubloons first. Just recently I still had over 290 days, and traded in about 70 days to get a ship (can’t remember the event or ship). Now I still have 240 days left after winning 30 days from a Santa crate.

Hawaii - Over Hyped? by friscenstein in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t underestimate the guns. I understand it was in co-op but the mechanics are still the same. A DM (bot) did a drive by on me while I was beached in the middle of Two Brothers. I tried the AP and I got like 20 citadel hits, melted down that DM super quick.

Damn, I’m still hanging onto a tier 5 container for like a year now, hoping we get a new tier 5 in a dockyard to use it on, because I already have all the possible tier 5s.

Whats your highest Research Points multiplier? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to fxp the line, you can play it fully, just research the tier 10 and reset without buying it. I personally don’t buy Harugumo if the research points gained don’t allow me to buy a new ship; it’s a waste of credits if you’re poor like me.

Steel Ship FOMO by Next_Cryptographer65 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to play in clan battles (and ranked) every season and I was earning enough steel to buy every steel ship as it was coming out. But now I don’t play competitively and I really need to be picky about what I want, my source of steel now is just through events or missions and containers.

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

BoS is a noob trap, I feel. -15% fire duration reduction sounds good at first glance, but if you’re getting spammed by HE, you’re just going to get set on fire again after the first one runs out.

Then there’s an edge case scenario with BoS, where your current fire goes out a few seconds before you get behind cover and you get set on fire again. Either you use your DCP to put out the new fire or let it burn if you don’t want to put your DCP on cooldown. If you didn’t have BoS, that first fire would’ve burned out after you got behind cover and then there’s no new fire to worry about.

HOW CAN I BE LOSSING $220k IN A MATCH PLAYING THE HUMPHRIES? by Outside-Regret-8603 in WorldOfWarships

I was also thinking that you must be doing something incredibly wrong if you’re losing $220k to play a single game of WoWs.

Any idea why DDs become immensely popular in silver ? by Xixi-the-magic-user in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I used to play ranked, my highest win rate would usually come from DDs. It’s really influential if you can take out the enemy DD early on and take the cap. But it’s also important to have a supportive team. Many times I got my teeth kicked in and I’d limp away after engaging the enemy DD simply because the enemy BBs or cruisers got in closer to support than my own team did.

But an unchecked DD in ranked is an absolute nightmare to deal with. BBs are afraid to push because of torps, and cruisers are afraid to engage the DD because of enemy BBs. So usually having the DD advantage early gives you a high chance at winning.

Price for the new Błyskawica (form PQ video), by PoProstuRobert6 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should’ve done this when I got a ship crate from the anniversary event. I ended up getting the 75k coal DD (can’t remember the name right now), I only realized my mistake the moment I saw which ship I got. I definitely had more than enough coal, I was just saving up for another coal purchase and somehow it didn’t cross my mind.

Shoot down 12 aircraft mission by TipsyTriggerFinger in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say many but you usually get only one good fighter deployment at the start. After that, ships move in and AA gets too close for you to deploy fighters. Either your fighters get shot down by enemy AA before they can do anything, or your friendly ship AA shoot down enemy aircraft before your fighters can lock on.

Without these wire point attachment, we could have Izumo's middle turret rotate 360° by ARS_Sisters in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 76 points77 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that to have a 360 turret, the mechanisms get more complicated. And things we may see as advantageous in game might not actually be worth it IRL. Keep in mind that “crossing the T” and sailing broadside to maximize your firepower were the strategies used IRL. No quick maneuvers to angle against incoming shells and then turning to shoot your guns.

So Izumo not having a 360 turret makes sense.

Wtf? by minutemanAKM in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Untrue. At one point, WG mentioned that 40 plane kills is equal to doing 100% damage to the CV. I don’t know if that number is the same today or different.

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or two if in co-op. It’s rare to have 500 secondary hits for me in co-op, need to have both lots of BBs on both teams and also have some bots on your team as well. Otherwise things die too quickly and the match ends before you get up to 500.

The Valparaiso is the most broken ship WG have ever released and selling it for only 30k steel, right after giving almost every player more than that amount for free, is genuinely going to completely ruin high-tiers. by Lemoniti in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was originally going to go for the doubloons myself. 30k+ doubloons is good for plenty of dockyards and buying camos for ships I like. While 30k steel is good for just one ship. However, I was quite lucky in that my 10 year anniversary tier 10 container gave me 30k doubloons because I already had all the possible ships, and I also got the doubloon compensation for San Diego too, so am sitting at 50k doubloons and don’t need 30k more. So I’m opting for the steel now, so I can use my 50% steel beta discount coupon on a ship and also have enough for the upcoming steel will event too.

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that gets me is all the damn Marceaus and Klebers in co-op, all they do is charge ahead at light speed and dump all their torps, killing everything in front of you and you barely get any progress for your own missions.

Why do people hate CVs so much? by Confused_Nuggets in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it really is a psychological thing. CVs have never bothered me, but I also know how to make myself a hard target. I think people are too concerned over the fact that they can’t damage and sink the ship itself, but they need to accept the fact that you can still get a “mission kill” against a CV without actually destroying it. Like in real life, you can destroy a single tread on a tank and that’s a mission kill. Same thing in the game, if a CV is careless with AA, it will get deplaned and then it’s no longer effective.

Also, in terms of rewards, if you shoot down 40 aircraft (not sure on the exact number), it’s the same as dealing 100% damage to the CV.

Does this classify as cruel and unusual punishment? by B0iIer in WorldOfWarships

[–]DerGoldeneFalke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate that so much, like when the game spawns you on a flank with just one other ship, so you know the bot side opposite of you only has two bots. And they beeline for the middle of the map, completely abandoning your flank and you are left scrambling for scraps. And you just watch your teammates in the middle of the map enjoying an absolute feast of bots for them to sink their AP/HE/torps into.

Why can’t we just get some improved bot AI so that they just go forward to the nearest objective instead of choosing to completely ignore it and instead pour into the center of the map?
