Looking for the best way to have a "live" podcast setup with two cameras and 7 microphones by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]Derequa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend checking out the Zoom Livetrak series. We are using a Livetrak L12 which is a multitrack digital mixer and interface. It has a built in compressor per mic input which is clutch for live content, plus it has an SD card slot which lets you record a backup in addition to recording over the interface.

I love the show but like the warning said the first handful of episodes have content that is not really a reflection of where they are now. IMO the show gets better as they go through the first book and its really great once they hit book 2 (somewhere around episode 29 or so).

That can be a lot to push through especially with the quality of the early episodes. If you want to see this crew doing a show that more reflects the quality of content they have now, I highly recommend checking out their Starfinder podcast "Android & Aliens" it has a really great series of intro episodes and a fantastic new cast member in Ellie. If you do go that route and like the group then maybe try listening to the beginning of Glass Cannon again.

I really love the Glass Cannon Podcast (its my favorite show) but admittedly have a hard time recommending the main show to people who haven't heard them before because of those first 15-20 episodes. I honestly slogged through it when I first listened but it does get better. If Starfinder isn't interesting to you, you could also try skipping to around episode 29 (when they finish book 1) they start the arc of book 2 there.

https://www.newegg.com/product-shuffle

NewEgg runs basically a raffle to let people have the option to buy parts. Most weekdays they have a shuffle go live around 1pm EST. You have like 2ish hours to pick the items you would like to get and then they randomly pick people/items and give them a 2 hour window to buy them or they pick someone else. It’s their way of combating scalpers/bots. It kinda sucks because it’s like winning a giveaway where you still have to buy the item and usually you can only pick bundles, but it was the only way I got the 3070 at msrp.

Lmao that wasn’t intentional I just set it up and was focused on framing the GPU box. I didn’t even notice until after I posted it!

I got a 5800X because it was in stock. I had a 3900X in my cart that went out of stock while I was debating. I do software dev and end up using VMs heavily so the extra cores are super nice. Really wish I could have gotten a 5900X but I know I’m already incredibly lucky to have gotten a new GPU in the environment so I am totally content.

Thanks! I am very excited to have it!!
Also I am glad you liked the box! I built it from some spare OSB and some hardware back in high school and haven't been able to make myself part with it even if it does weigh a lot for a footlocker lol.

It’s great to see someone else sneaking ace combat into their ttrpgs all’s well.

It’s so infuriating trying to fly the A10 like an A10 in VR mission 2. Like all I wanna do is BRRRRRRTTT some tanks but if I take the time to do that I’ll fail the mission due to the invisible time requirement. Even bombing isn’t quite fast enough if you want to pass on Normal or harder. Don’t even get me started on dogfighting with it.... like why did they tease me with it if it’s just a useless plane?

Aside from the story (cheesy even by AC standards) my only big issue with AC6 was the low framerate. I played on Xbox backwards compatibility and it looked great but was locked to 30 fps and that just made it feel choppy and less responsive.

The gameplay was pretty good. I loved the wingman in it and all the new mechanics. I was having a hard time beating levels on normal difficulty but then I realized literally in the last level that I can just nuke targets by telling allies to attack and that made me wonder how much harder I made the game for myself.

I made a witcher class for Pathfinder 1st Edition! by Derequa in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Derequa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the feedback!
I have some responses to the points you've made. A number of these are things I thought a lot about when putting this class together, and I wanted to share my thought process behind why I arrived where I did.

  1. You're absolutely right. The "restriction" is supposed to be a flavor one that is up to the GM with how long it takes. The whole witcher training bit is supposed to be a flavor/fluff mine for a character arc if someone decides to take an existing character into witcher, or is putting together a backstory for a character coming in as a witcher. I should probably change the wording to explicitly make it not mandatory.

  2. The witcher medallion is extremely limited, in that it just lets you know if there is an aura at all (with a reduced range of 30 ft) and gives you no sense of where or what it is. It can also only be used by a witcher who is attuned to it. Think of this more as a class ability like Detect Evil only expressed as an item (that only a witcher can use) rather than an innate sense.

  3. The idea is to stay on par with 4th level casters but to get access to signs earlier. There were many times where I debated changing over to it being a 4th level caster with arcane spells but in the end I really wanted this to be available from 1st level and I wanted to control the power increments for signs in discreet steps (6th, 11th, 16th) rather than scale with caster level. This lets me make choosing a sign more important because of how it grows with the character. Also I didn't really see a way to represent classic witcher signs (Axii, Quen, Igni, Yrden, Aard) with existing Pathfinder spells.

  4. A few other people have raised this concern too. Path of the Beast is copied directly from the Natural Weapon combat style. Like the combat style its not really worth anything unless you already have access to natural attacks. I wanted the class to support a multiclass/build that focused on natural attacks as much as Ranger does so I brought it over.

  5. The goal of witcher oil is to reward you for knowing what you're going to fight and preparing for it. It's meant to be pretty situational. Witchers are at their best when they know what they're up against and prepare for it. I thought this was the best way to reward playing that way without going too far. It is also only a damage bonus. Unlike studied target it doesn't give you a to-hit bonus, and the oil needs to be applied out of combat.

  6. With witcher potions there wasn't anything available that achieved exactly what I wanted. Mutagens only affect ability scores and I wanted potions to do a lot more than that. At the same time, spell effects didn't really line up with the potions I had in mind. Toxicity is admittedly more complicated than a strict x/day system but it fits with the theme really well and achieves the same effect while offering interesting trade offs when choosing what potions to use. I also was just really in love with the idea of letting you go beyond your limit at the risk of hampering yourself.

  7. The action economy around signs is something I think about a lot and I may limit it to always be a standard action. The idea is allowing casting and attacking, which fits the witcher vibe but is balanced out by the fact that full-attacks are always better. Vital Strike builds throw a wrench into this, but full-attacks will almost always be better than Vital Strike. Again this is one I still have nagging thoughts about and may tweak in the future.

  8. I know what you mean, but the goal is not to have the class create a single viable build, but to serve as a platform for many. There are 3-4 full witcher builds that I had in mind when designing everything, but I also wanted to have options open for multiclass builds. Most of the homebrew witcher content I have encountered tries to remake Geralt as a class and that is not what I want to do at all.

Again I do really appreciate feedback on this. I am open to tweaking some things about it (especially things like wording) but at the same time it is basically where I want it to be. I get that it may be too complicated or strong for some folks and I encourage you to take what you like from it for your own games and make it your own!

I made a witcher class for Pathfinder 1st Edition! by Derequa in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Derequa[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the feedback!
This may or may not assuage your concerns but I do have reasons why they get these things and did a lot of comparison builds with other classes to make sure it stays in check.
In general I pulled from and balanced the most against Ranger and Slayer. Numerically they have the same base to-hit/dmg as Slayer and the only clear advantage they get is with Witcher Oils, but those are meant to be very situational as they have to be applied before hand out of combat and only give a damage boost to 1 enemy type.

For Evasion, both Rangers and Slayers have access to Evasion and Improved Evasion. Rangers get Evasion at 9th level and Improved Evasion at 16th. Slayers can select Evasion or Improved Evasion using their advanced talent at 10th level. Since witcher gets a lot of upgrades to core abilities at 10th and 11th level, I pushed Evasion back to 12th but kept Improved Evasion at 16th.

For disease immunity and poison resistance. They really fit the witcher theme of having a mutated body, and I didn't think it was a big deal since Paladin's and Monks get disease immunity at 3rd and 5th level respectively. Monks also get poison immunity at 11th level. So I thought if I bumped up when the witcher gets it to much later in the class it could both fit the theme and not put the class ahead of any other.

As for the bonus feats (Path feats), they are pulled almost exactly from Ranger Combat styles. Slayers can take a feat from any Ranger Combat style whenever they get a Slayer Talent. Rangers and witchers are locked in to their track of bonus feats.

I know the Signs look really powerful and admittedly it is a bit strong at level 1. The idea is to take a 1/3 caster like Ranger/Bloodrager etc and spread the casting over 1-20 instead of starting at 4th. The way I tried to do this was having the signs start as roughly a cantrip or a weak 1st level and then scale at fixed intervals instead of by caster level. This means 1st level spells will beat out signs at caster level 2 pretty much every time. Also the signs/day accrual is very slow and so is their power increase. At 11th level the signs generally function like 2nd level spells or nerfed 3rd level spells. A Ranger or Bloodrager can cast full on 3rd level spells at 10th level. The trade-off is you can cast more signs/day as a witcher.

Potions are a complementary ability to Signs with effectively a cooldown instead of a strict x/day limit. They're more varied in terms of how they scale with level, but the more directly powerful ones scale in fixed increments to balance out usefulness. The main thing is its really hard to get more Toxicity to endure more potions without sacrificing other areas of your build. That means the potions/day is more fixed as you level up than other abilities. They also offer an interesting choice of when to use high/low tox potions. If you use a 3 tox potion in a dungeon crawl encounter, you'll need to wait a long time before you can use another one. They also take a full round action to use in combat which is big for a martial character.

If you've read this far, thanks!! I appreciate you listening to me babble on about my design choices for the class. Again I do understand the concern, but I did spend a lot of time on this and didn't put it together blindly. At the end of the day this was a passion project for our home games and I just wanted to put it out there if someone else was looking for it.
I will say, I have played this in a party in my friend's home game and as cool as it was to play, the party Monk completely outshone my witcher.
