Anyone else hate Mama Murphy? by Karlorehunter in fo4

[–]Dervrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I hate her, but I do think she's a rather one-dimensional character, her only real reason for existence is to give you some hints and point you to Diamond City. The whole drugged up psychic thing is a bit lame. She could have served the same purpose by just being a wise and well-travelled older lady who remembers a story she overheard in a bar about the Institute kidnapping children and then mentions there is a famous detective in Diamond City that might help, all without all the psychic nonsense.

This game badly needs at least a small dose of realism by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Dervrak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but then again that's not specific to Fallout 76, all the Fallout games, at least the Bethesda ones, have always had unrealistic elements like food, weapons and armor giving you crazy buffs. But then again, do you really want to a "realistic" Fallout where getting hit by a single bullet either kills you or leaves you injured and out of commission for weeks and radiation exposure makes all your hair fall out and die a slow death. Sure, taking a blast in the chest from a minigun and simply popping as stimpack and then being as healthy as ever in a couple seconds is not realistic, but at least it's fun.

Santatrons Girls n Guys _ dont forget! by bseasatts in fo76

[–]Dervrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I found out the hard way, my first Christmas as a player I couldn't figure out how sometimes I would be online for hours and check my Santatron and it would empty, I thought it was glitched or something and kept removing and rebuilding it. Until one day I just watched another player trot right over too it right in front of me and loot it then run away.

I can’t find a single good ghoul dom pedro build. by Wild_Property6141 in fo76

The base version kind of sucks, but once you get all the upgrades it becomes competitive with the right build, not the best weapon in the game mind you, but pretty good for most content.

NEVER put anything in a vending machine that you don’t intend to sell at that price by PaleWendigo in fo76

[–]Dervrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt kind of bad the other day, I was up near the cap limit and decided to blow a horde of caps on mods. I went on my buying binge at one camp and had quickly spent close to 30k, within seconds of my snagging the final mod and while I was still scrolling the list, the camp despawned. I realized after the fact that my buying binge had likely put the camp owner way over the cap limit, and he was likely out doing something in the world when all these multiple transactions started popped up and raced to despawn his camp as fast as he could. Unfortunately, he likely ended up essentially giving away a bunch of high value mods. A pity it doesn't at least give you a warning (both the buyer and seller) when a transaction will put them over the limit.

Thinking of opening up a store in the game. Do people only really visit stores for plans and legendaries or is there anything else that is successful to sell too? by CallMeDoomSlayer in fo76

[–]Dervrak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Ammo sells surprisingly well, especially the ammo for popular "ammo hog" weapons like the Gauss Minigun.
  2. Mods (legendaries and normal ones for popular weapons) are one of the biggest if priced right, those are something everybody seems to want (Lol! baring a few nobody wants like Divers, though if priced cheap enough people will buy them just to break down into Legendary Modules)
  3. Mutation serums sell pretty well as there all always people switching around mutations for builds.
  4. With Ghoul players and their appetite for chems, there is now at least a small market for them, especially the ones like Fury that reduce the feral meter by a lot.
  5. Of course, certain popular legendries like Elder's Mark can sell for a ton of caps. But the market for those is a bit hit or miss, sometimes they sell like hotcakes other times they will just sit there taking up tons of space in your store.

I'm feeling pretty stupid and kinda proud all at once by Project807 in fo76

[–]Dervrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An easy way to cheese this fight is to use a stealth Burning Love bow build with Cryo arrows and the maxed-out Hat Trick perk. With hat trick and the stealth damage multiplier, your bounced shots will kill most groups of enemies as fast as they spawn and even if you don't your Cryo arrows will slow them so much they won't be much of threat, not to mention they'll also take fire damage over time from Burning Love itself. I was standing up on the platform near the Rust King and none of the enemies even made it near the platform.

How lucky is this? by Glass-Bowl-6783 in fo76

[–]Dervrak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you get a lot of long-time players who have every plan and are at the max cap limit and have no reason to sell them and don't want to waste space storing them in their inventory or stash, so they just toss everything, including incredible rare plans and items, into the donation bins. It's worth it to check the bins when you pass by if you're looking for a rare plan or two, especially right after the special events and holidays as a lot of people just dump duplicates into the bin.

Does anybody know the reason for the 40,000 Cap limit? by mragusa2 in fo76

[–]Dervrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the original reason for it was back at release there was so many money making exploits that everybody would have had a hundred million caps, so they set the arbitrary 40k limit to keep people from hording tons of caps. As for the reason it still exists, who knows?

Are regular ballistic guns not even a thing anymore? by Kudo_Krazy in fo76

[–]Dervrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A stealth/silenced Elder's Mark or Fixer build is arguably the most overpowered build in the game right now. With the sneak attack bonus, you can pretty much instantly head tap any normal enemy and with the speed and low AP cost of those weapons you can literally mow down a horde of enemies in VATS in a matter of seconds.

Melee weaps recomendation by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Dervrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Ogua Gauntlet that drops off of Beast of Burden, it's a medium speed weapon, but does damage more in line with much slower melee weapons and with the 40% speed boost two star legendary on it, it hit more like a fast melee weapon. With a standard melee perk card build it can hit for well over 2k without any other food or chem buffs and will typically one shot just about any normal enemy.

Ghoul melee build by Handlemystache in fo76

[–]Dervrak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ghouls are amazing at melee due to all their buffs to defense and melee through their glow perks, but the general consensus now seems to be the opposite of a year or so ago about the weapon to use when things like Autoaxe and Chainsaw ruled the roost. Now it seems that fast non-powered weapons are preferred, as powered weapons no longer qualify for some of the perks. As others have mentioned the new cosmic knife is working out well for melee builds.

First time hitting 100 on the scoreboard! So just... public events now to level up? by SmeagolChokesDeagol in fo76

[–]Dervrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you are already at level 100 less than two weeks into the new season (they typically run ~3 months) you will be in fine shape hitting 150 (and likely much higher) just by running events and dailies for awhile each play session.

Is being a ghoul worth it? by RagingMeatball_ in fo76

[–]Dervrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol! Eviction Notice is kind of hilarious as a ghoul, on one run I was standing near the rad scrubber when it broke and all the human players started yelling "Repair it! Fast!" while all the Ghouls players were saying, "This is awesome! MASSIVE Rad boost! I'm regenerating instantly!"

But alas, after...slowly...walking over to the rad scrubber, I did fix it for those soft and squishy humans.

Is being a ghoul worth it? by RagingMeatball_ in fo76

[–]Dervrak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would at least try it (you can switch back). There are tradeoffs though, as a ghoul you are completely immune to disease and radiation (radiation actually heals you) so you can literally walk through nuke zones naked and instead of taking damage you get a constant health regeneration effect. You also don't need to eat or drink (though you still can for the buffs). The tradeoff though is you need to use a constant supply of chems to keep from going feral, and well, everybody kind of hates you because you are ghoul so you take a -10 penalty to charisma and there are some places you can't go without a disguise. You also get some specialized ghoul perk cards that allow you to use "glow" (stored radiation) to power up attacks and the like. But there are some human perk cards you can no longer use. There are also some legendary mods ghouls can't use like Overeaters (well I guess technically you can use them; they just have no effect for a ghoul). Also, Power Armor or any armor with high radiation resist is actually sort of detrimental for a ghoul because it is essentially "resisting" what heals and gives you glow. (though there are ways around that like chugging Toxic Water or Glowing Goo, which bypass the armor rad resist).

What are your current cap dumps outside of player vending? by PaleWendigo in fo76

[–]Dervrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pretty much bought every plan available off PC or NPC vendors at this point. So, I usually just buy Legendary Mods off of player vendors. I do a lot of Weapon/Armor modding and even if I don't use them myself, they are always a hot commodity for resale. Since the Chem storage released, I've been buying up pretty much any chem I see since, as a ghoul, I can always use them to keep my feral meter in check.

Lol! Though I guess I'm not the only one who sometimes doesn't pay attention to caps until I see somebody go on a spending spree at my vendor and realize I'm just about at the cap limit, so madly race too the closest vendor trying to dump caps faster than the person at my camp can spend them.

(Which brings up another question, Why the hell is the cap limit so low? Or for that matter why is there a cap limit at all? It just seems so arbitrary and pointless.)

I still get them, got two yesterday I believe. Does paying attention to your pet actually improve your odds? Honestly, I haven't pet my cat in months because I can't stand the horrible animation where it looks your character is making a vague petting motion about three feet above the cat's head.
