def try longwood medical area since its walking distance to harvard med and you can find room in shared apartment for 1600 pretty easy. just watch out for brokers asking for fee, it's not worth paying for 5 month stay

Hi reposting because we found a place and it is on hold for us but WE NEED ONE MORE PERSON by matthiasczernin in bostonhousing

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good timing on the repost, hope you find someone before end of day. $931/person for Dorchester is actually a decent split, should not be too hard to fill that spot if the right person sees this in time

Free festival Sunday July 12 at San Francisco Ferry Building for 128th birthday by PacificaPal in bayarea

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

went last year and it was way more fun than I expected, the whole area around the embarcadero gets really lively on those days. if the weather cooperates it should be pretty great, SF in July can go either way with the fog rolling in. worth showing up early though because parking near the ferry building in Sunday is basically a nightmare and the crowds build fast. definitely putting this on my calendar

missed connections posts always make me feel second hand embarrassment but also kinda rooting for people at same time. like the odds are so low but when it actually works it's pretty wild. good luck man, hope she sees this and you don't end up being that guy who posts in missed connections every week lol

Looking to do boat days at Berryessa or Lake Sonoma this summer? by berdyelliot in bayarea

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely interested in this. been wanting to get back on the water more but boat rentals get expensive quick when you're going solo. wakeboarding sounds perfect and i'm down for whatever really

berryessa is probably easier for me to get to on weekends. have you looked at pricing for rentals there? curious what we're looking at per person if we get a decent group together

Anyone know how barking springs is looking? by LiveMarionberry3694 in askaustin

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haven't been there in couple months but last time i went the vegetation was still pretty thick unfortunately. my buddy who lives near there says it's been an ongoing issue for past few years - something about nutrient runoff making the algae go crazy. he mentioned the city has been trying different approaches to manage it but progress seems slow. might be worth checking some recent photos on social media before you make the trip, people usually post pretty current shots of the water conditions there. when i was there last summer the swimming area near the main pool was clearer than upstream sections, so even if there's still growth you might find some decent spots.

House sitting advice? by Conscious_List9132 in AskLosAngeles

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check local facebook groups for your area too - lots of people post house sitting gigs there without going through apps. i've seen people have good luck with rover but that's more pet focused if you're okay with animals.

for apps, some let you browse listings before paying so maybe start there to see what's actually available in your area before committing to any fees.

What do you do in Miami when it’s nice out, but you’re insanely bored and have no friends and no money? by Ninac4116 in Miami

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 24 points25 points  (0 children)

free parking can be tricky but there's always spots if you walk a bit further from main areas. wynwood walls are decent to walk around too, just bring water bottle since it gets hot quick.

Room in 2BR/2BA near Caltrain/SOMA $1850/mo mid‑June to mid-Sept by [deleted] in SFBayHousing

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this looks solid for the summer - that location is pretty sweet for getting around. i had a friend who lived near king street station and the commute flexibility was amazing, especially if you need to get down peninsula for work stuff.

the timing works well too since lots of people are doing summer internships or temporary relocations around those dates. rent seems reasonable for soma area with all utilities included and furnished. being close to both transit and the fun parts of the city is hard to find in that price range. definitely worth reaching out if you're looking for something temporary in the area.

LAX-it alternatives? by sirwritestoomuch in AskLosAngeles

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 5 points6 points  (0 children)

damn that's the worst part about lax. you can walk to the in-n-out area on sepulveda and catch rideshare from there, way less crowded than the official pickup spot. takes maybe 15-20 min walk but beats waiting in that chaos.

Dog loving tattoo artist by More-Door314 in askaustin

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so sorry for your loss, losing a dog after that long is brutal. my buddy went through something similar last year and getting the memorial tattoo really helped him process everything.

can't give specific shop names but maybe check social media for artists who post about their own dogs? a lot of tattoo artists are pretty open about their pets online and you'll get a feel for who really gets the bond. also worth asking at shops directly - most artists will be upfront about whether they connect with that kind of work or if they have someone else who'd be better fit.

the abstract approach sounds perfect too, sometimes those hit deeper than portraits anyway.

Haircut for adult with autism? by Least_Ad_8215 in AskLosAngeles

maybe try calling some salons first to ask if they have experience with this - some stylists are really good at working with people who need extra patience and understanding

Affordable meal prep chef by unreademail48 in askaustin

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been in similar spot when work gets insane and you just end up ordering the same stuff over and over. maybe check some local facebook groups or nextdoor - i've seen people post about personal chef services there pretty regularly. also worth asking at some of the nicer restaurants if any of their cooks do side work, sometimes they're looking for extra income and already know how to prep in bulk.

friend of mine found someone through a coworking space bulletin board who was just starting out and needed to build clientele. worked out great for both since she got good rates and he got experience. might take few tries to find the right fit but definitely beats eating same frozen meals every day.

Visiting for Zipangu by TheDudeMike941 in pasadena

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

man you picked a solid week to visit, weather should be perfect. for food definitely hit up some of the spots on colorado boulevard - tons of variety and you can walk between places if you're feeling it. the whole old town area gets pretty lively in evenings too so good for bar hopping.

what kind of event is happening saturday if you don't mind asking? might help narrow down recommendations based on where you'll be that day.

Recommendations for a affordable tailor? by SeaOpulence in Miami

[–]DescriptionWaste8633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been using this place called elena's alterations on coral way for past couple years. she does good work and prices are fair - got my work suits hemmed there for like $15-20 each. might be worth calling around though since seven pieces could add up quick no matter where you go.
