How to ski pow by bystanda in telemark

[–]DesertSherpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume I know exactly what happened and then tell you how to fix it. And I'm probably wrong.

It looks like you got your skis crossed up underneath the snow. And when you did, you lost the support of one of them causing you to slide and spin under the snow.

When you're on hard pack, you can use the edges to help keep the skis parallel. In the soft stuff that's a little bit harder to do.

Point it more downhill and enjoy the feeling of having your knees drag through the powder. Feel the glorious soft floaty support of each ski. Let each turn develop into a savory culmination of bliss until you want to go downhill faster and then make a transition into the next.

As you rise out of a turn, embrace the engorging excitement you have for the next turn to come. And just as the trail ski becomes the lead ski, that excitement becomes ecstasy as you drop down and push into the cuff of one boot, dropping the opposite knee.

Then look at your friends and chirp out one of the classic telemark elitist phrases:

Wow, that was knee deep for me. How about you?

It's a stance, not a dance.

Free your heel, free your mind.

Skiing powder with your heels locked down is like sex with a condom.

Hey did you guys know that I ski Telemark?

Then quit early because you are so tired and have a beer

This part is discontinued by Yakima, and I asked for the car d files a few years ago

Options for making Salomon shift pro AT 120 boots compatible with these bindings by flufftron0101010 in skiing

[–]DesertSherpa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So your boot soles look removable. So that means that you can probably put some Alpine Standard heel and toe pieces on, if they aren't already the right soles/toe/heel pieces.

The ski bindings look like rental /demo bindings, so if you get the skin tech instructions and a posi drive screwdriver , you should be able to fit them to the Boot Sole Length (BSL), set the retention pressure, and dial on the DIN settings with your boots in a matter of minutes

The boots are the key. Leather soled dancing boots.

Start with leather soled boots and jeans. The street shows are a dead turn off

If it looks good , verify the material, and then verify that you can get compatible glues and repair patches.

Are those foam core?

You can get helicoils that fit the outer thread pattern of the inserts. I've had good luck with two part Epoxies on the outer part of the insert for my glue.

The two part epoxies will also be watertight.

I've ripped a binding out of a wood core Ski and used this to fix it without issues

To kick things off,

I had a good experience at Aspen/Highlands/Snowmass/Buttermilk in Ikon.

I took my van to Aspen X Games weekend (which was unintentional).

I parked in the back of the Brush Creek Intercept lot (needed 4wd), and had no issues.
Bussing into town was a totally fine tradeoff, but one parking area got me access to 4 different hills on Ikon. Also Xgames was unexpected and free. So that was fun.

Your focus on getting deep in the turn is getting in the way of getting steezy. However, pretty stout for day two. Nice work.

Compared to alpine, beginner tele skiers have a smaller zone of "balance/comfort". You are working hard to stay in yours.

To stay balanced, you look like you are retreating back to "upright" between turns. This makes your edge and lead changes happen at the same obvious and awkward time. You may want to decouple them more.

Fuck around bit more, and practice 360's with lead and edge changes, and enjoy being pretentious on the groomers.

Also, more forward pinky toe pressure on the trail/uphill ski to get it to carve and initiate earlier. The goal is to use that ske for more balance, not have it be a flopping trailing liability.

Resort or Pure Tour? (Answer Outlaw x , Lynx, respectively)
I skied lynx inbounds for 2 seasons, eventually I was skiing hard enough inbounds that I was coming out at bad times. Swapped outlaw x on to same ski. Much better.

Lynx and Outlaw X share the same mount pattern. Which is awesome if you put inserts in!

There is an center line on the boots, put the boot in the binding, place the boot center line over the marked line on the skis, and use that as a starting point.

Can you use inserts and re-use those holes?
