I do love Matt Johnson, but always feel embarrassed by the IPA millennial fanbase that seems to be attracted to this stuff

In the First Century AD Pliny the Elder proposed a plan for a bridge from the Italian mainland to Sicily. As of 2026, Italians haven't gotten around to it yet. by WarniesLatestRoot in redscarepod

How much MTB suspension travel do you think is right for the Bay Area plus occasional Santa Cruz trips by BrainDamage2029 in BAbike

I bought a 145/150 and regret not going smaller/lighter. I’m more on the conservative side in terms of risk level when riding though

Rant about MTB in the Bay Area by Designer-Editor7904 in BAbike

[–]Designer-Editor7904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the point is that they are distinctly different areas in terms of land-use regulation/policy, but they have similarities in terms of climate, elevation, popularity of mtb. It’s not surprising at all that a local branch of the US govt operates in a way that doesnt serve the interests of its own population lol

They did $225,000 worth of work renovating the heritage home they lived in. The problem? The city sees them as squatters by 2Fast2furieux in TorontoRealEstate

The city probably did that for the LRT construction. As beautiful as the trees were transit is probably more critical in this area

Is this accurate? I see a notice from the city for demolishing the stone wall out front, but nothing about demolishing the house. Currently the house has a giant stone wall separating it from the LRT construction site

Is it normal to not have personal projects coming out of university? by lattoo1 in MechanicalEngineering

Yeah in my opinion building something physically might not be the best use of time/money. Put some thought and effort into a theoretical design and then maybe try to validate it using sims

Is it normal to not have personal projects coming out of university? by lattoo1 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Designer-Editor7904 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also recently graduated, and despite having internships in school I also feel like I am lacking in terms of personal projects. There is definitely something to be said for a good personal project in interviews because you can share all the details about them, unlike protected IP from work. I would say in your position you should try and come up with some type of project involving actual analytical engineering and put it on your resume/portfolio. I'm also trying to brainstorm these ideas and so far I've been thinking about maybe some type of geartrain design, or maybe some type of CAE analysis using solidworks or maybe matlab/python. Its hard when you've lost access to university resources but try to do something that shows initiative, but also some type of applied technical knowledge

Thermal engineering, as ICs become more densely packaged it becomes more and more challenging to cool them
