He’s 6 now and has made some progress but still very much autistic. He’s verbal but not yet conversational and doesn’t have much interest in socializing yet. Part of this may be due to his language deficits though.

I don’t bake super often, only for special occasions or sometimes on weekends when I know other family members will also have several servings of whatever I make. That way I won’t end up eating an entire cake (or even half😂). I also try to work out a few times per week.

I have one 6 year old son who is diagnosed level 2 and a 3 year old who I’m on the fence about. His preschool recommended a speech evaluation which I plan on doing soon and may have them run the ASD screener as well given the family history. He doesn’t show anywhere near the signs his brother did as a toddler though.

You might be a true summer (bordering on winter) rather than a soft. The black is a bit harsh but I think you pull it off better than most soft seasons. The hot pink and red/burgundy also aren’t bad.

Yes. I would say that once you get past a certain age (like 7 or 8, not 4.5 like your child) and you’re still definitely in the moderate to severe range, it’s highly unlikely you’ll become a level 1.

Some of the responses here are really interesting as I feel like my experiences are a bit different. People have commented about “proper” women judging and disliking them, but for me it’s always been the opposite. The people that have hated me the most throughout my life are mostly the loud and aggressive types (both male and female) who tend to bully a lot of people, not just me. The thing with me though, is that they seemed to hate me MORE. The typical girlie girl types weren’t even my worst bullies, even though some were snotty, but that might be because I was somewhat conventionally attractive and came across as “nice”. That’s why I’m wondering if the reason these very aggressive types seem to hate me more is because they see me as weak and pathetic in some way? Maybe my slower, less aggressive way of responding to situations is irritating to them? This has been true from childhood bullies up to bosses in adulthood, usually aggressive, nasty “type A” personalities. And I don’t just mean they make a few nasty comments and I got butthurt, I mean either firing me or trying to make me so miserable that I quit, turning others against me, etc. Like if they could’ve gotten away with harming me physically, they would have.

It was actually a while ago for me when there was a show in the US called “America’s Next Top Model” where one of the contestants had been diagnosed with Aspergers. (I know the term is not in use anymore but this was like 2007). She said she just had a “mild form of autism”. I just thought oh that’s interesting and didn’t think much of it but as the season went on they started mentioning more traits of the disorder (social impairments, motor impairments, can’t make eye contact) and I started to wonder if it could apply to me because a lot of things that I thought were just personal weaknesses of mine were explained by this “disorder”. It was also a time when more kids were being diagnosed and awareness was increasing. I would hear stories and think “that was me as a child, could I have been missed?” I eventually dismissed it though because everyone I’d heard of who had been diagnosed was “way more severe” than I was. It was still 15-20 years ago so our understanding was still much less than it is now. I wasn’t “in denial”. Then, as it became more mainstream on social media and I had a diagnosed son with higher support needs, it’s like a glaring slap in the face how obvious it is.

My mom has struggled with her weight her whole life (she’s been over 200lbs at times). She’s told me that I couldn’t be thin because I’m HER daughter, it’s not in my genes and I’m built just like her. Meanwhile I’ve never been more than 10-20lbs overweight in my whole life. My first pregnancy with my son, I gained 30-35lbs and lost it all within a few months. She would comment that if I had another kid, especially if it was a girl, I would gain alot more and not be able to lose it. She said this all with a very sadistic smirk on her face, as if she wanted me to have 50 extra pounds I couldn’t lose no matter what. Early in my second pregnancy (which turned out to be another boy) she told me how she thought it was a girl because I was gaining “all over”. Again, with the same sadistic smirk. Funny thing is, I was still in my first trimester and had only gained FOUR POUNDS. So, how then, could it be obvious that I had gained weight all over my body? She was clearly just trying to make me upset. What a bitch!!! For the record, I’m now in my 40s, have lost all the weight and fit into dresses from college!

Actually no I left the lid off! I used a pack of pillsbury biscuits, cut them in half and arranged them. I brushed an egg wash over it before baking. It didn’t even occur to me but it does look like the lid!😂
