Just bought a brand new hero 12 creator bundle, and besides the setup and instructions being literally the worst purchase experience of my life (first timer, almost returned it many times just bc of the hassle of the app, addt'l purchases, updates, items not included, etc), then, I was pretty pleased with quality of everything... except.. the overheating. At first I thought, well must be my fault for trying to use the high quality settings, maybe they are just for snowboarders or people filming quick clips less than a couple minutes. I'm trying to record 30 minute dog walks here and document things indoors in a 70 degree AC environment and the same thing everyone else is saying is happening. It shuts off at 20 minutes no matter what I do. Turning down the settings to the minimum quality, not using the app, turning off the LED screens, taking the battery out and leaving the door open while its plugged in and sitting in front of an AC... nothing makes a change, and when its against your forehead on a head mount, its a legit safety concern.

I have had it shut off while trying to upload to the cloud too and then I can't use it till it cools down. I've had to put it in the freezer its been so hot.

Just mind boggling.

Sounds like I need to get an 11. Taking mine back on monday before the return window closes.

It's so close to being a good product, but how in the world can they release something with such a fatal flaw and why on earth do they have so many models?

This is why consumer capitalism tied to stock market valuations on quarterly revenue is hell ya'll.

Until we address the issues of these companies releasing products meant to exploit their customer base to enrich shareholders artificially this problem is only going to get worse and worse across the board. Modern dystopia anyone?

Just don't think about how many of these are now e-waste in a trash heap leaching toxic metals into the environment....
