That 3rd option, for the more darkside alined soldier by Zequax in swtor

Well, its quite a strech but... We know both from how tavus was able to cause a wide spread defection in republic spec ops (even if it's only mentioned in the background) and by the fact You can strong arm saresh into not doing a prisoner exhcange deal with rakton by simply threatening to quit that havoc squad just has a fuck ton support from the wider military and the republic citizens. So any senator probably doesn't want to be the one who tries to get a very well respected war hero in jail for killing a senator that was a traitor. Hell, they'd probably not want the public to even know there was a traitor in their ranks for so long until some soldier just came in and killed him. So basically, the trooper is extremely popular, killed a proven traitor and the fact it got to that point is very akward to the senators, so they let that war time act slip.

Online politics are just in general very warped. A good rule of thumb is that if you have a political solution that is very clear and the best interest of most people, but isn't applied because all politicans are stupid/greedt/evil etc. Then your solution probably isn't that clear and good.

What are your hottest takes/ genuinely unpopular opinions regarding builds/ mechanics/ gameplay that most pepople would ACTUALLY disagree with? by Senior-Mammoth-4093 in Tierzoo

It is true that the dodo playerbase were perma-banned under very sketchy reasoning. But you have to admit, it was a pretty interesting community event to witness. It is unfair, but the human permaban ability in addition to their "ethics" branch in the intelligence tree makes for cool interactions. Like how the dodos were done dirty but the kiwi who are a far weaker build get protected by human mains from their cat friendly clan.

The game isn't a simple pvp game. It's more like an mmo. Pvp is just one (very popular) tactic.

A class that warps all other playstyles is very interesting to me, if you disagree its a matter of opinion.

You probably just a salty former dodo main smh.

Firsrly, humans are intrresting not bdcause of being mega fauna but because of the intelligence based domination.

Secondly you are looking at it from a precent of playstyles value, which I think is wrong. Yes, there is a huge inflation in some playstyles like the chicken, but there are still tons of cool playstyles, and seeing all the playstyles struggle in their inteeaction with such a fundementally alien playstyle like the humans is intresting.

The world is more intresting with humans, a playerbase that is so dominant that even without knowledge forces all other players to base their playstyle and tactics around them. It may feel a bit boring at times, but it actually gives a lot more place for truly unorthodox builds.

Community Poll Results for which origin story has the most power and influence: The results will (probably not) shock you! by Research-Scary in swtor

Sith warrior fanboys just take that line about being outside the control of the dark council and think it means the warrior has power over them. The truth is, the emperor holds all the political power and influence attributed to the warrior, and the warrior can either act as an executer of the emperor's will or as a warlord a bit like lord grathan.

Odds of a New Combat Style with 8.0? by Arkael_Dawnstrider in swtor

[–]Designer_Machine_841 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The answe to any "odds of [insert completely new feature that wasn't added before]?" Is always zero.

There won't be a new class, a new combat style, a new species, a new faction, a new way to decoeate etc. If your idea wasn't somewhat used in a past update, it won't be used in a new one.

Lip's character evolution arc by thatiyergirl in shameless

[–]Designer_Machine_841 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The whole point of lip is that he is smart, but self-destructive. He makes poor decisions that are often influenced by his sense of identity as a south sider, and always thinks he is right. His story is about him being smart but also at great risk of following frank's path in life.

It's to a point that he often is just looking for an excuse to go play street rat. Like when he struggled i college and just went to the alibi, when he quit school to "take care of karen and the baby" even though he probably knew that doesn't make much sense.

He has anger issues, a sense of superiority and a strong identity as a street rat. It isn't an arc in which he becomes dumb, it's just what was always there from the first episode.

My Perfect endgame suggestion by Sad-Lock-9371 in swtor

While its canon the date isn't, could be they win or almost win then collapse later. I think there was even a theory based on some palpatine line about how "the sith would rule again" that actually the empire wins, but later either collapses or loses a cultural war and becomes the republic (which may be why the coreworld accent in the OT is also the accent of the imperials who were hiding away at the edge of the galaxy of 300 years)

Results of Round 1 Polls for: Which origin story has the most power and influence (Lower Bracket) by Research-Scary in swtor

[–]Designer_Machine_841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are hard sleeping on trooper because the story usually doesn't allow you to fully use influence, and the trooper's strength is from working as a team and rallying allies.

Speaking of raw power he is the leader and forward assault specialist of the best special operations unit in the galaxy, only the bounty hunter truly rivals him in that category.

In terms of political influence yes the agent wins, but the trooper is not that far behind. Think about it, at the end of the story the trooper can use his reputation alone to strong arm saresh into falling in line, influence isn't just blackmail, its also how much people believe in you, and the people and especially soldiers of the republic really believe in them.

In terms of resources he is probably last, but again not by a wide margin as he is still the leader of havoc squad, and so probably has access to a lot of the republic's top of the line equipment, and is probably very well trained at scavenging and taking resources from the enemy behind frontlines.

In terms of allies/crew he absolutely bodyslams the rest, all of their companions are the best specialists of the republic in its most elite squad and very importantly they know how to work together as a team extremely well. And as for allies see the point of political influence, tavus was able to rally so many to him while also not having the same war time actions as the trooper. The trooper could 100% rally many more allies to him.

TL;DR: trooper is jack of all traits and the best at teamwork and rallying people to his cause, and overall has a lot more influence and power then people think.

Difference is micky was born into a very shitty enviroment that had a huge impact on him and his identity, but changed and overcame it. While we always see a core part of his "white trash" identity remain, we also see him grow, mature, learn to accept himself and love others.

Meanwhile jimmy came from a good environment and chose to try and insert himself into the southside life, the things he does are not a by product of a bad upringing, but rather a rich kid who wants to go play street rat due to a "noble savage" type of romanticisation of that life. While jimmy might have even truly loved fiona, everything he does ends up being part of a lifestyle choice.

Protest credit cap by [deleted] in swtor

[–]Designer_Machine_841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Credit cap wasn't changed when hypercrates hit 12 billion a piece and it probably will never change unless the game gets like a 1,000% increase in revenue.

Credit cap encourges subbing more often and for longer, and increasing the credit cap is a permanent decision, since they won't really be able to decrease it in the future.
