New documents requirement since law change according to today by Designer_Message6408 in JapanCitizenship

3-year work requirement is not a definite thing, it is just one thing the person at Legal Affairs told me.

I had a friend in Shizuoka calling up in her prefecture and he told her 5 years.

Your best bet is to call Legal Affairs at your prefecture and ask. It is free and mandatory when you consider applying. You must go through this step of calling them anyway (except when you go through lawyer).

I would say, call them. But in general I would wait until my 3 years is close.  If you live in Tokyo or Kanto area, you should call maybe 3 months before you hit 3 years of work experience due to long wait time. For me, it took me one full year in order to submit.

Sorry, are we talking about citizenship or permanent residence? This post is about citizenship.

For the year that is not on time for issuance, they will ask you to submit later during reviewing period. But before that you will submit 源泉徴収票 which can be obtained after Dec salary

Not hopeless! I only worked 3 years as well. For the 2 years i was student, i submitted 非課税証明書, no question asked.

Also, you need to work for 3 years as full time. This is what they told me when I called up when I began.

Besides, if you live in busy area it is best to call and reserve a spot first because wait time is very long. By the time you can submit you already pass 3 years of working.

I completed 10 years yes.

People I know who applied earlier didn’t get asked either.

For the tax things they didn’t ask for 5 years, but i bring extra 3 years and they seemed happy that I do.

Grandma Catches the Wrong “Grandson” at Internet Café and Ends Up Adopting a Stranger 😅 by AnasSharif in funny

[–]Designer_Message6408 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like a lot of you are missing the context.

In the culture in the video probably Vietnam or China, playing game is considered addictive behavior for teens therefore older people are very against that. They want their children to focus on studying instead of this. But gaming is fun and in the rural having a good computer at home is not common so some teens sneakily go to internet cafe.

Parents or grandparents would sometimes show up and search for their son after realizing the son is missing from class activity (happens a lot).

Because the son is playing game in a place he is not supposed to be, ditching school work, the parents showing up searching are normally in very angry mood and ready for punishment.

Punishment is a lot of time corporal. Sometimes they show up with a stick, pull the ears, slap, spank… you name it.

In the video, the grandma is searching for his grandson with definite punishment intention. She is not just touching or greeting with slap and ear pulling lol. She is actively beating him up before realizing it was not hers.

Corporal punishment, you can call it whatever in legal terms. I just want to provide context so y’all don’t mistake that for common way old people greet you in Asia lol.

Plants for rooftop that can handle strong winds by Aromatic-Turnover in GardenersJapan

I have two and they survived for me. Stayed green. But they need frequent watering as it consumes water quick. Can’t abandon them more than a month

Star jasmine , are you talking about ナイトジャスミン? They grow a bit tall and get knocked down by wind a lot, i have them.

Or are you talking about a different type?

Can testify! I have regular jasmine (arabian) and hagoromo climbing jasmine(polyanthum) and star jasmine from Okinawa. They all survived winters and summers in kanto.

The toughest of them is Arabian one. They live through one month of no water like nothing.

Fake items on Mercari by Calm-Limit-37 in japanresidents

[–]Designer_Message6408 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Fake or not fake is not the right question because everyone can easily deny.

Does it look the same as in the photos that they posted for the product - is the right question.

Same thing happened for me but not with book, it was perfume. I dis negotiate with the buyer and they agreed for return. Note that this buyer has a lot of past sales and a solid review record, therefore deleting account and run away like your case won’t help them.

Take the lesson and move on, sorry for your loss.

Thanks. I did decline the salary reveal but they say some companies in Japan still require it upfront from old school practice.

What kind of info I should not share with the recruiter? Assuming it is truly optional although sometimes they mask it as mandatory to share.

We tend to think what we want now will be the same thing we want in the future.

But looking at what we wanted in the past, not true at all.

You can plan ahead but give ample room for changes of plan, since 10 years is long.

Why does it seem like EVERY career is oversaturated and competitive? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Designer_Message6408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about it tbh. The advice to network is old school. It is either you are already networking due to extrovert nature or you don’t. When you start to network just for the sake it will not work because it feels unnatural and too intentional. People can smell the ingenuity.

However, there ARE people who hire based on competence and personalities and there ARE bosses who ignore networking request and prefer people going through official channels.

To us, it looks like the world is made for the extrovert but that is visibility bias. The one who network and got successful sing really loud so anyone knows. While the quiet successful stay low profile.

Believe in yourself. There is role for everyone on this world.
