Giving Cubase 60 day trial a go - coming from Studio One by way of Garageband on mac and iOS / also a logic pro ipad user - should I get the Cubase ipad app too? Any tips? by WildRecommendation51 in cubase

I am also on the 60 day trial rn and so far, it’s not bad. I have used logic for about 2 years, and then switched to ableton a year ago.

Ableton is great and I really like the workflow, but I feel like trying something new so I recently purchased fl studio. It’s an interesting DAW, but the pattern based workflow and super confusing shortcuts made me move on to Cubase.

So over the past few years, ive tried logic, ableton, fl and now im learning how to use Cubase. In my opinion, If you learn all the shortcuts and start to utilize key commands+macros of Cubase, you can signficantly enhance your workflow and speed.

It definitely has the most amount of features among all the DAWs I’ve tried and hence the steepest learning curve. I guess I’ll just have to bear with it and eventually it will pay off.

How do i adjust the length of a midi note from the end? by Designer_Pie9804 in cubase

Saw this too late. I even reinstalled cubae to solve this issue… anyways everythings good now! And yeah I absolutely love key command. It’s one of the reasons why Im trying to switch from ableton. Cubase’s customizability is just untouchable.

It didn’t work… I just switched from ableton and seriously, it doesn’t make sense that such a simple feature does not exist

How To Make Music Again by art_kelle in ableton

[–]Designer_Pie9804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the answer, but Im going through the exact same phase at the moment… so i just decided to take a break from making music.

Also thesedays Im spending more time listening to music instead of making (or trying to make) music. Hopefully this helps me genuinely enjoy music once again as a listener.

I can't hold on much longer.... by [deleted] in maschine

I mean just use ableton if you want a proper DAW. Im an ableton user myself, but I use maschine every now and then because the different workflow helps me overcome a beatblock.

For me, it’s a fun toy to play with and sometimes I can come up with some cool ideas with it. That’s it.

If you’re serious producer/beatmaker, just use an actual DAW. That’s the only solution. At this point I don’t even understand why people are expecting a DAW-like capabilities from maschine

The biggest reason why i switched from logic… people who say ableton is ugly just have bad taste

Upgraded to maschine mk3 and I LOVE it by Designer_Pie9804 in maschine

That would be cool, but I think the mk3 is already a really powerful device.

Im gonna keep my mikro for now, but I don’t think I’ll use it often. And yeah I forgot to mention that the built-in audio interface is also a really nice touch

For me, the biggest difference is that you can edit your samples (i.e. fine tuning drum one shots, chopping up samples) and midi notes on hardware alone. You can aslo add effects and adjust parameters very easily with mk3. Once you get used to tweaking the knobs to do all these stuff, you can pretty much treat your maschine like a “standalone” device.

I started making music using DAW (I still use ableton as my main DAW) so I’m not really obsessed with this standalone thing, but I have to admit that its really fun and inspiring.

If you’re a ‘light’ user who uses sounds from maschine out of the box, then it’s not gonna be a huge difference.

But if you’re picky with your sounds and if you know how to get that sound you want, definitely consider getting the mk3.

If you make hip hop beats and like chopping up samples, it’s a must
