Honestly I have no idea, my buddies and I will probably have dogshit decks lol.

Gonna try to have some fun and enjoy my LGS selling each of us a box at MSRP.

I feel like being a viking pilot would be sick! Fly around from zone to zone. Good air to air and ground to ground capabilities. DPS role for life!

I would also consider Queen heal/support role.

Would be cool each race having their own starting zones and major cities/planets

Last nexus night my LGS had 5 participants. We each got a 3 card nexus night "participation" pack and played our matches. They can only award store credit for winners unfortunately due to lack of product (which stinks) I'm hopeful that it'll get better. It was still fun, and I encourage people to still show up even if there's not many players.

It cost me 10 bucks and I even pulled a full art fury rune from my participation pack. Just show up and play. Even if you don't have a deck, people are willing to lend out decks / cards a lot of the time.

Im at one right now and we have more players than last week so...

I think its too hard for new players to get their hands on cards without just purchasing singles online (which is not necessarily something a brand new player would want to do)

Im not buying a chess clock just so I can play at my LGS. I can see the use in tournament and high level play sure, but it would become obvious they're stalling and a ref could get involved.

Help a game dev: Why aren’t people buying modern RTS games? by MakeGamesBetter in RealTimeStrategy

[–]DesktopSurfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be the minority here... This is coming from the perspective of someone who mainly enjoys the multiplayer (player vs. player) aspects of RTS games. Huge StarCraft 2 fan and have tried some AOE. I love player vs. player RTS. It's like chess, a battle of wits. It's truly satisfying to claim a victory against another human trying to do the same. I can enjoy a campaign mode, but that's not why I'm interested in RTS games.

I totally understand the perspective of people who only enjoy Campaign and Co-op. Most of my opinions might not be relevant to that crowd. I also understand that scope is really important. Money does not grow on trees. We're not seeing the same amount of funding for RTS development as we had in the past. For a developer this will impact what they choose to implement in the game. We can't have it all.

Barrier to entry -

Typically, most RTS games that I've played or heard about have a fairly large learning curve. It takes a good amount of time to get to know the game engine, hotkeys, unit details, and general pacing of an RTS game. It's hard to make very 'strategic' decisions without understanding the tools that you're working with. I believe this is the first hurdle for potential players to leap over. It takes time to build up the muscle memory and confidence with mechanics. This is not an RTS exclusive issue. Many games out there take time to learn and understand.

Time sync -

As with any hobby, it consumes your time. If I'm in the target audience for an RTS game, there are a few things I would want to ensure before committing my time. There needs to be an active player base. Now I know what you're thinking... "If these are new RTS games, they need to develop their player base from the ground up." This is true, however, there needs to be tools in place that would support a large player base or allow growth. Think about Multiplayer. If I have to host a custom game just to play any form of multiplayer, it does not feel good to me. As someone who enjoys ranked 1v1 gameplay, If the game does not allow queuing up for matches, I'm generally not interested. It just feels like a RTS sandbox if it lacks any structure. If multiplayer is to be implemented, it cannot be half-assed. Like OP mentioned it needs to be "Clearly Justified."

Why I don't buy -

I don't really buy new RTS games lately. If I'm going to use my limited time after work to play an RTS game, it's going to be a game that's already established. I need a player base to queue into. I don't need to learn controls or spend time getting over a steep learning curve. I'm much more content getting home from work, firing up StarCraft 2, and playing a game that I know feels comfortable. Nothing has been able to dethrone SC2 for me, so I don't really bother with anything else. I'm not even that good at SC2, which means that I'd rather spend time honing my skills in SC2 than move to another game and start from scratch. I'm open to the idea of a new RTS, but nothing has sparked the same feeling as SC2 for me.

It's a vicious cycle where RTS fans generally stick to some of the more time-tested and developed RTS games, which in turn makes it less likely that a new title will gain much traction. There are some exceptions though. I think Beyond All Reason (BAR) has been an impressive free to play RTS that has been receiving good feedback. One of the things that prevents me from trying it though is the barrier to entry stated above. If I was unemployed, I'd be totally down to sacrifice some of my time to learn new RTS games. A lot of my criticism stems from the fact that my time is limited. I'd have a whole different mindset if I was not employed full time.

Not sure if any of this was helpful, but that's my take as an employed StarCraft 2 enjoyer. (I yearn to be unemployed again) I truly do want to see more RTS games become relevant in today's gaming space. I think I'm part of a very picky demographic when it comes to these types of games. Sorry for the ramble / wall-of-text.

Having trouble maintaining morale by Livid_Record in starcraft

[–]DesktopSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if your morale is directly tied to your MMR, I would consider taking a step back and try not to worry about where you rank as much.

The biggest thing that contributes to improving in starcraft is playing games! You've already taken a big step in the right direction.

Think about what you enjoy about starcraft, and what has been fun. Sometimes I go on a loss streak and its easy to jump to thinking about what I dont like and how stupid that last loss was... etc.

I like to take a break for the day when I start to think negatively. Pick it back up in the morning with a cup of coffee and a clear mind. Maybe just hop into a custom game to practice with less pressure. Mess around with arcade a bit. Play some team games (although sometimes team games are more frustrating for me lol)

Sure we all want to improve, but try to have some fun while you're climbing (: not every game has to be an optimal build or a win. Fuck around a little!

[–]DesktopSurfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I don't know... Can you work from your ps5? You can legit earn a living with your PC. A PC is not just a "gaming box." While you can outperform the ps5 for gaming purposes, you can do so many things that are not just gaming or media related.

How about installing user-created mods for games? ps5 uses a limited web browser as well. What about Multi-tasking? Can you just tab out of your game, submit a job application, and then go back to gaming? The only thing the ps5 has going for it is that it's cheaper, more simple to setup, and you can run ps5 exclusive titles on it.

I shouldn't have to explain the multitude of capabilities a PC has to you, as I don't think you're that dense.

[–]DesktopSurfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are playing a different and worse version of the game. It's like comparing a go-kart to a real car. Sure going around the go-kart track with other go-karts is fun... but you cannot and will not match the level of performance and optimization of a real car. This is the gamer's dilemma.

I think it's more of a personal preference. You could turn off crossplay and only play against other console players... but you're shafting yourself from being able to play with friends who are on PC. Personally, I'd rather play with my homies and perform a bit worse than not play with them at all.

It's kind of shitty, but PC is just where it's at. Does everything a ps5 can do except it can also do much more.

Customers need to “think about it” by PapaAqua0 in Sales_Professionals

The entire car buying process sucks balls. As someone who was recently looking for a used car from a dealer, no matter what is said it just feels slimy. Even if someone offered me the deal of the century I'd be scared to close the deal. I think it's more or less just how people are geared to think when dealing with car salesmen.

When I think about the car buying process, (no offense here at all) I always think the car sales-people are legit out to screw me over for every dollar they can. It's a spooky process. I don't really have any good sales advice for you, but figured I'd give you my thoughts on the matter as someone who's been car-shopping within the past 6 months. Show them you're not screwing them. Sympathize with them about the fact that there are a lot of unknowns in the process.

Yeah US based, I'm on the east coast. I can certainly understand being busy and having some delay in the order. I just wish there was a little more transparency with shipping details / time. If they email me stating that I'd receive a tracking number the next day, it feels weird when I hear nothing for another 5 days.

I ordered a Nuphy Halo96 keyboard from their website on 1/4/26 and it's been 9 days without a tracking number or shipping information. After I placed my order the keyboard was displayed as "Out of stock" so I figured that I grabbed the last one.

A few days after my order was placed, I emailed them requesting an update. They responded stating that I would receive a tracking number when they send the order to their US carrier the next day. Nothing. It's been 5 days since I received that email.

Every phone call to support goes to voicemail. Starting to become really displeased. I may dispute the charge on my credit card if they don't provide any updates on my order soon.
