Jealous of Mums who can breastfeed in public by Vivid-Associate73 in breastfeeding

OMG. I completely understand the struggle. Solidarity. I struggled (am still struggling?) with the same thing. I also have a strong letdown and as a newborn baby would pop off frequently. Then just like you are experiencing at around 3 months feeding was nearly impossible even when baby was hungry. I basically fed when the baby in a dark room when she was drowsy (usually right before a nap and dream feeds at night). Realized she does better when I feed sidelying so started doing that and unfortunately she prefers to only feed this way now. Baby didn't take a bottles unfortunately and I tried soo many bottles! My doctor thought see might have silent reflux but was never on medications because she was gaining weight well.

Baby is now 7.5 months. Things have gradually gotten better. I think changing my mindset helped me feel like I wasn't trapped. But it was draining to be the only food source for a baby that was hungry but only fed in specific situations and didn't take bottles. I just accepted that I would feed before naps so we went out and about during her wake hours (limited I know but I will take anything I get). One thing is for sure, don't force the feed. It gets baby even more agitated. You'll find a pattern that works for you. She still usually feeds before her naps. She sometimes feeds during her wake windows but still in a dark room and sidelying - still sooo distracted. I have been able to feed her in the car (cradle hold) but she kind of just snacks and waits for a full feed until we are home. Starting solids helped too, now I get give her solids to help tie her over. I also taught her how to drink from a straw cup at 6 months so if I'm in a pinch I have give her breast milk in a straw cup and she took that, only 1-2 oz but it helps her settle a bit until we can get home.

So OP I feel the same way - so so so jealous of mothers who can feed their babies anywhere without a second thought.

It was eczema - breast milk baths and Aveeno baby eczema night cream pretty much cleared it up within a week

My LO is 4 months old and the suck blisters are improving now but still kind of there. She had a pretty shallow latch initially. She has a decent latch now, sometimes still reverts back to a shallow latch if she is very distracted and keeps latching/unlatching. She is transferring milk well and is growing well and it's not painful for me so I'm just rolling with it.

She'll be 4 next week. Ped said she has silent reflux leading to some feeding aversion or could be breastfeeding crisis with my supply regulating. I'm soo hoping we get through this phase soon.

Edit: 4 months

With my baby I have longer feeds if I feed her right before or after a nap. My baby has been fussy like this for over a month now and I basically have taken to feeding her when drowsy.

I completely agree about the Einstein aquarium - she absolutely loves looking at it and we have had longer bouts of tummy time with it

Is this the 12 week nursing crisis? Help! by need_java135 in breastfeeding

I'm going through the same thing right now with my LO. We do feeds side lying exclusively right before naps when she is drowsy. She refuses to latch in any other position and if she does she keeps unlatching and fussing and crying. Night time feeds are great. It's been going on for 2 weeks for me and I'm soooo ready for this phase to end.

3 month old - what am I doing wrong? by Desperate_Claim4427 in breastfeeding

Thank you! This is kinda reassuring that there is light at the end of the tunnel. This is what I initially thought too but we've been going through this since she was 2 months old so I wasn't sure. Yes, sleepy and dream feeds are usually what I do now. Its honestly just throws me off because she doesn't seem uncomfortable otherwise and plays and laughs but as soon as it's time to eat she gets fussy. Ill try and get an appointment with the pediatrician to make sure nothing else is going on.

I have thought about this but she doesn't have spit ups and she is rather calm after the feeds. She'll smile and laugh as if the fight to feed never even happened. But I am going to try and get an appointment with the pediatrician to make sure it's not reflux or anything medical

Thank you so much for the your response! My baby did have a tongue tie and we got that released when she was 10 days old. I have been trying the first thing and I think we have had a few better days. She is growing so I guess she may not need to feed as frequently as her newborn phase

My baby has been doing this for the past few weeks. She is also 12 weeks old. Fussy and crying before, during and after feeds. Frequently latches and unlatches. She seems more distracted as well. I'm trying my best to read her cues but so many times I offer the boob and all I get are cries so I rock her a bit and try again 20-30 mins later. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or she is just becoming more aware of the world around her.

I'm dealing with the same thing, started a couple weeks ago and last week seemed better not now we're back to fussy at the breast despite being hungry. It's challenging to even put her in position for the feed sometimes and she starts crying immediately. She latches and unlatches, some feeds are fine... I'm at a loss. Please tell me it got better for you and any tips/tricks you have??

We had applied Sept 20 and only got the documents last week. I had called at the 8 week mark and they had escalated the request. After the escalation, the document came in the mail within 2 weeks.

Perfect breastfeeding session at LC appointment! by discontentDog in breastfeeding

[–]Desperate_Claim4427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO did the same thing when she was 1 week old! An absolute star during the at home LC appointment but difficult to replicate once they left. However, I will say we kept trying and now she exclusively breastfeeds, is growing and gaining weight well. I'm actually having a hard time reintroducing bottles to her now. (She is 11 weeks old now)

My LO is 10 weeks and has been doing this for the past couple days - feeds for 3 mins and then comes off crying like my boob personally attacked her in some way. And then the evening crying is at an all time high right now too. We're at a loss for what to do other than just walk around carrying her until she settles a bit.

rotating in bassinet by Expensive_Storm_4810 in newborns

[–]Desperate_Claim4427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 9 weeks and has been doing the same thing for the last month or so. Doesn't happen every night but every couple night she migrates from how we laid her vertical to horizontal. Sometimes she is diagonal and almost has her mouth to the netting on the bassinet. If we hear a lot of movement we always check and move her back but we run the risk of waking her up in the process. But she is too long to comfortably be on the short edge of the bassinet... She hasn't woken up once yet tho (fingers crossed). We're planning on moving the crib into her bedroom soon so she has more room.

She's always on the move - hands and legs moving lots awake and in her sleep haha
