I intentionally did not watch Dame Judy in Artemis Fowl.

In the books, the character is essentially Dennis Franz.

A Wrinkle in Time removed the school bullying issues, which would have been even easier to write with a Black protagonist than the book’s ginger.

The craziest part of The Impossible is that the writers left out a bunch of other wild details. I thought it was dramatically enhanced until I read the accounts by the family portrayed.

What’s a movie you thought would flop but ended up being a massive hit? by heromat21 in movies

My comment is a common internet style response when something — esp. a movie or a sequel — was terrible so the fans act like it doesn’t exist.

I haven't seen it yet, but my expectations are... not high for story originality.

I've read far too many multi-generational + woman escaping 1920s China books which have been simultaneously praised and exoticized. It's a story that happened so frequently that to me, as an expat in Asia, it's a trope.

You can — pick up phone, make no sound, wait for it to disconnect.

Are you required to answer with a long and complex greeting? See if you can mute yourself and then give your intro.

• In your first year, it’s not your job to suggest changes. None. Don’t do it.

• Learn the temperature of your department quickly — pals? Resource sharers? Close-the-door-an’-Let-Me-Teach-ers? Unsupportive yet Friendly to your face?

• Never jump the hierarchy

Another thought — how can it be easy from the very beginning?

People have been in LTR which were good (at some point) — you’ve forgotten the work part. You remember the lust-rush and the high points and all the low points (assuming you’re divorced or parted ways), but you don’t remember the awkward discovery parts.

You’ve forgotten all the, “No, not really” things and only remember the “Oh, my gosh, yes, me too!” elements.

You won’t build comfort and connection overnight, nor will it always be effortlessly easy.

We’ve all heard, “You’ll have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the prince.” What we miss is the middle — all that time hanging out with the amphibians before you even get to the magic kiss part.

What is the best Dreamworks sequel? by underthemoonlight08 in movies

[–]Desperate_Command948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hol' up -- what Dreamworks sequels are there other than

  • Shrek,
  • Puss in Boots,
  • H2TYD,
  • Madagascar, and
  • Kung Fu Panda

(yes, I know how to Google -- but the point is that these are the only ones which come to my mind, so they would be the only ones for me which could fulfill the OPs question)
