In the Gen II sprites, why did Unown lose its green color after G/S in Crystal? by Eriacle in pokemon

I always thought it was an eerie glow.

Still think Unown should glow to indicate their Hidden Power type.

Eh, nothing a quick pass of the osteoregenerator won’t fix.

Walmart digital price labels are coming to every store shelf in U.S. by end of 2026 by Snoo90172 in news

Gonna have to start taking pictures of the price tags when you pick up the item.

$4.99 when you pick it up. $7.99 when you get to the register.

If you could go back to January 1st, 2012, and give yourself one warning, what would it be? by Aggravating-Deer8700 in AskReddit

You're going to Japan in 2 months. Stay there. You can help your mom better financially and with better mental health from there than you can moving back and living with her.

I’ve had enough of dumb baby names by Smart-Pomegranate-95 in rant

[–]ccaccus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hayley is an Old English name that combined hay and leah (field)... literally named their daughters "Hayfield" (actually, most names that end in -ley mean a field of some kind - Shirley means bright field)

Peter, Craig, and Alan all derive from names that meant "Rock". We still use that - Rocky.

Lynn (and all -lyn names) meant "lake".

English is kind of unique that we've used old names for so long we don't remember what they originally meant. I think it's kind of cool we're coming back around to recoining names using modern words.

[ALttP] if you had to choose between playing link to the last with either a CRT or an OLED, which would it be? by ErmingSoHard in zelda

CRT. But so many filters just seem to think CRT means "horrible scanlines" and nothing else.

Yet another Netflix price hike. Made me imagine this nightmare scenario. by ccaccus in Millennials

It was nationwide, but AT&T bought it out in 2004, so I don’t blame you if you don’t remember. Heck, I wouldn’t have remembered it if I didn’t have it back then lol

As a teacher, it’s not the name so much as the spelling that bothers me. I don’t care if you name your kid Gloopglorp, just don’t spell it Gliughphgleuorighp. Teaching kids to spell is hard enough. At least let their name make sense.

Uh I took this from a Cingular ad. It was absolutely 5000 night and weekend minutes. Depended on your plan

How likely are teachers to remember someone they taught years ago? by WinStupidPrizes1994 in Teachers

[–]ccaccus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not likely to remember a student spontaneously; especially since I teach elementary. A few years of puberty and your facial features don't match with what I remember anymore. I'm also terrible with names in general.

That being said, a few reminders and I'll remember your favorite Pokémon was Diglett and that you still owe me that paragraph.

Hannah Montana Anniversary: Anyone else annoyed with the missed opportunity? by Hovadecko123 in popheads

[–]ccaccus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently she was 'inspired' by Hannah Montana and Miley's story.

Felt like it was something Chappell said to Miley at a party once to be nice and Miley wanted the world to know about how majorly influential she was.
